"A gift? Miss Chi, are you referring to..." Q on the phone hesitated for quite a while before he finally realized, "Ai Jiang?"
Chi Mu responded with a proud "Mmhmm".
"That’s easy, I can bring this gift to you at any ti. So, Miss Chi, when do you specifically want to see her? Today, or tomorrow?"
Chi Mu wanted to say "either works," but after the corner of her eye caught the scars on her face, she changed her mind: "Next week. I’ll contact you in advance."
"Okay, I will be waiting for your call, Miss Chi."
Without saying anything, Chi Mu took the phone away from her ear and hung up.
...
When Xia Wan’an woke up, it was almost noon.
Bright sunlight poured into the room through the window, making the mont seem extraordinarily peaceful.
Xia Wan’an was dazed for a while before rembering what had happened the night before. Perhaps it was because she’d slept too long, she felt as though she was between dream and reality.
After getting up and washing herself, Xia Wan’an walked out of the bedroom.
She thought she was the only one at ho and that Han Jingnian had left for work early in the morning as usual. So when she heard the sound of the study room door opening while she was pouring water for herself in the dining room, she was startled.
Water cup in hand, Xia Wan’an peeked out of the dining room to see Han Jingnian in his casual ho clothes.
Huh?
He, who always prioritizes his company and work, actually... didn’t go to work?
While Xia Wan’an was perplexed, Han Jingnian stopped in front of her: "Awake?"
Xia Wan’an ca to her senses and nodded with the cup in her hand.
"Hungry? I’ll get you so porridge." Han Jingnian said as he crossed the dining room and went into the kitchen.
It wasn’t until Han Jingnian brought the porridge and set it on the table, that Xia Wan’an put down her cup and took a seat at the dining table.
In addition to the porridge, Han Jingnian had also prepared eggs, fried dough sticks, buns, and so appetizing side dishes.
Xia Wan’an only realized when Han Jingnian handed her a spoon that he had served two bowls of porridge. After saying, "thank you," she took the spoon and started stirring her porridge, then asked again, "You haven’t had breakfast?"
Han Jingnian "hmm"-ed and placed a peeled egg in front of Xia Wan’an’s plate.
Xia Wan’an said, "thank you," once more, then lowered her eyes to the round egg on her plate.
This was an egg peeled by Han Jingnian himself. No wonder it looked so appealing...
Lost in the perfection of the egg, Xia Wan’an suddenly realized sothing and glanced up at Han Jingnian.
Did his "hmm" just now imply that he skipped his al to wait for her to wake up so they could eat together?
And he didn’t go to work... Was he intentionally staying ho to keep her company?
As Han Jingnian was about to bite into another peeled egg, he noticed the girl staring blankly at him. He couldn’t help but ask softly, "Not to your taste?"
It took Xia Wan’an a while to catch up and she said nothing.
"Well, what do you want to eat? I’ll reorder for you..." Han Jingnian reached for his phone as he spoke.
Xia Wan’an quickly shook her head: "No, no, I love the porridge you make."
"Oh." Han Jingnian replied calmly. He took a bite of the egg and after swallowing it, added, "Then drink more."
His tone was extrely calm, but his lips curved into a smile as he bit into the egg.
