Accompanied by a suppressed groan, Han Jingnian’s grip on Xia Wan’an’s chin noticeably slackened. Seizing the opportunity, Xia Wan’an pushed Han Jingnian away and escaped from his side.
Xia Chen’an, Zhang Te and Xie Lin, who had witnessed the whole scene, burst into laughter simultaneously.
However, their laughter had just started when Han Jingnian, nursing his nose, shot a chilly gaze at each of them.
Their smiles quickly froze.
The adroit Zhang Te was quick to break the silence: "Mr. Han, madam, are you both alright?"
Next was Xia Chen’an, who stooped down to pull Xia Wan’an up from the ground: "Darling... An’an, did you get hurt anywhere?"
Finally, the usually reticent Xie Lin spoke: "Mr. Han’s injury needs imdiate attention to prevent infection. Besides, we are not even sure if it’s safe around here, so we should probably leave as soon as possible."
As Xie Lin’s words died down, both Zhang Te and Xie Lin bent down to support Han Jingnian.
But before either of them could touch Han Jingnian, he sidestepped them.
Watching Han Jingnian, laboriously standing up to support himself with one hand, Xie Lin and Zhang Te’s hearts dropped. An ominous premonition filled their hearts.
Seeing Han Jingnian struggling to walk, Xia Wan’an, despite her earlier intentions to keep her distance, couldn’t bear it and reached out to support him.
Since Han Jingnian was walking slowly, he and Xia Wan’an fell behind.
As the group exited the building, a man with dark skin who had been groaning on the ground with an arm injury, looked up with a nacing glare.
He took out a dagger from his waist with his unhurt right hand, then sprang up from the ground when they weren’t looking, and thrust the dagger forcefully toward Han Jingnian’s heart.
Xia Wan’an faintly sensed sothing was amiss behind her. She casually turned her head, only to see a terrifying man, with a knife raised, lunging at Han Jingnian.
She instinctively shouted, "Watch out!" As the knife ca closer and closer, she didn’t have ti to think. She just put herself in front of Han Jingnian.
"Mr. Han!"
"Madam!"
"Darling!"
With the intermingled shouting of several people, the dagger had already reached Xia Wan’an’s chest.
The man was very fast; so fast that others barely had enough ti to react.
The knife tip was exceptionally sharp. In no ti, Xia Wan’an’s chest was drenched in blood.
Just as the man was about to thrust the dagger into Xia Wan’an’s heart, there suddenly ca a heart-rending scream from him. He dropped the dagger, clutched his right wrist and fell to the ground.
The next mont, Xia Wan’an fell into Han Jingnian’s arms: "Wan’an!"
Then Xie Lin rushed to Xia Wan’an’s side, while Zhang Te and Xia Chen’an, in an effort to prevent another accident, took asures. One of them blocked the factory exit, while the other bent down to examine the man with the dagger.
After inspecting the wound, Xie Lin perford a simple first-aid process to stop Xia Wan’an’s bleeding. Then he turned to Han Jingnian, who was visibly tense, and said, "It’s okay. The wound is shallow."
Upon hearing this, Han Jingnian’s expression finally eased sowhat. However, still sowhat worried, he was about to reconfirm with Xie Lin that Xia Wan’an was indeed alright, when Xia Chen’an suddenly said, "A tranquilizer dart?"
"Does this an there’s soone else around and that person saved An’an in the nick of ti?"
