"W-Wait! What do you an by making feel good?!" Verena yelped, panic rising.
Even if Evelyn had asked permission for the first ti, she was clearly still trying to do whatever she wanted! It didn’t help that Verena’s body was utterly exhausted—her fingers were now nimble and frail, bruises painted across her skin like tragic reminders of the past week. At this point, she was completely at the girl’s rcy.
[System Notification]
[Affection Event: Critical Branch]
[To further progress down the Good Path, the Host must allow Evelyn to "comfort" her.]
[Warning: Resistance may result in loss of affection points.]
WHAT?!
Wait a minute... What happened to the whole consent developnt?!
What was the point of asking for consent if rejection wasn’t even an option?! It wasn’t the system’s fault, really. No, it was entirely the fault of the girl whose affection points would nosedive the mont she sensed the slightest hint of rejection.
"Hm?" Evelyn tilted her head innocently. "What are you thinking about?..."
"I-I an..." Verena stuttered, face heating up.
"Oh~!" Evelyn chuckled, leaning in until her breath tickled Verena’s ear. "Maybe you’re the one with the dirty mind..." she whispered teasingly.
Ack!
Verena instantly flinched. Maybe the girl was right. Maybe she really was the one with the dirty mind after all.
"So... what did you an then?..." she asked cautiously.
"What I noticed about you," Evelyn said softly, "is that you barely react to anything physical..." She lowered her gaze, almost shy. "And I guessed that... maybe you never really feel as strongly as I do. And... I want to make you feel just as strongly."
Slowly, Evelyn reached out, her fingers gently tangling with Verena’s. She lifted their hands up, studying them with a tender smile. Side by side, Verena’s hand looked longer and thinner, while Evelyn’s was softer, smaller, fitting perfectly against hers.
Her thumb lightly brushed over the back of Verena’s hand, tracing the faint lines and bruises with heartbreaking care.
"You’ve been hurt so much..." she murmured, her voice trembling slightly. "But you’re still so strong. I... I just want to be soone you can lean on too."
Verena’s throat tightened. She wasn’t used to this — to being treated like soone fragile, soone precious.
"And if you’ll let ," the girl continued, looking up at her with a soft, almost pleading smile, "I want to be the one who makes you feel safe. The one who makes you feel good... not just in the way you’re scared of, but in all the little ways too."
Their hands remained intertwined, Evelyn’s warmth slowly seeping into her. For once, there was no rush, no pressure. Only a quiet, overwhelming sincerity.
Verena swallowed hard, her cheeks burning, then turned away.
"...You’re already doing that," she whispered.
Was this what people ant when they said hand-holding was lewd?!
"Promise sothing..." Verena hesitated.
"Yes?..." Evelyn blinked, eager.
"Don’t make your whole personality revolve around ."
Verena was slowly accepting it now — loving not just Evelyn, but the heroines too. But there was one condition: they had to focus on their own growth. Why?
Because she absolutely hated it when any of the heroines turned into mindless simps or baby-making machines.
She wanted them cool — just like Anastasia, before she fell head over heels for that goddamn prince!
"Huh? What do you an?"
"What I an is... Keep being c-cool," Verena stamred, the words barely escaping.
Evelyn paused, her eyes widening slightly. "You think... I’m cool?" Her cheeks flushed red. "That’s the first ti anyone’s ever said that to ."
"Yeah! Stay cool!" Verena said with a reassuring smile.
Evelyn blinked in surprise, then laughed softly. "Okay! I’ll keep being cool!" She paused. "But right now... I want to be uncool."
Suddenly, she suddenly laid down beside the woman, slipping into the space between her arms and chest. She nestled herself against Verena’s side with surprising ease, her body fitting perfectly like a missing piece.
Verena stiffened, startled by the sudden intimacy.
"You’ve been cold in that dungeon, haven’t you?"
Sohow, Verena didn’t like this.
Not because she was uncomfortable, but because she felt herself opening up again.
Maybe it was the long days spent trapped in that cold, empty dungeon, but she found herself yearning for warmth.
And that yearning terrified her.
Talk about commitnt issues... Maybe I am the problem after all.
No, that wasn’t right. She had to face this head-on and stop running away.
"What’s wrong? Why aren’t you saying anything?"
"I don’t know if I love you..."
"Oh..."
"It’s not that I’m rejecting you. I’m just scared. What if I don’t love you, and end up hurting you instead?"
It was ironic.
She had always been the one to speak about love, to define what it truly ant.
Yet now, when faced with it herself, she couldn’t even be sure if it was love.
It was a valid concern, especially with the system constantly pushing her toward the heroines.
Love, after all, couldn’t be forced.
Anyway, she believed that Evelyn didn’t truly love her yet. After all, her affection points hadn’t even reached a hundred.
"What if we give it ti?" Verena suggested.
Evelyn smiled warmly. "I don’t mind..."
"ARGH!! WHAT’S HAPPENING?!"
When they both turned around, they saw Beatrice, her hands covering her eyes, flushed with embarrassnt.
Then ca the others: Sera, Clarina... and also Penelope, Raphael, Cassian, and the rest of her LGU mbers?
"I always knew that bitch was a playgirl!" Sera shouted, rushing to Verena’s bed, grabbing her pillow, and smashing it repeatedly against Verena’s face.
She had just returned, surrounded by warmth, only to have her face pumled by a pillow!
"Wait! Stop! It’s not what it looks like!" Evelyn tried to explain, but Sera wasn’t listening, too busy swinging the pillow like it was a weapon of mass destruction.
"Evelyn, move! She’s obviously corrupted you with her devilish charm!" Sera growled, swinging again.
"M-MMPHH! STOP!"
Penelope had appeared out of nowhere, a furious glint in her eyes.
Without waiting for any response, she grabbed another pillow from the bed and began swinging it with all her might at Verena’s unsuspecting face.
"PLAYGIRL!"
