At 10:00 AM, while Jin Huai Zhong was busy in his office, Jin Fan stord in.
"Jin Huai Zhong, Old Zhang ca to crash my Great-Grandmother’s livestream. You put him up to it, didn’t you?"
Jin Huai Zhong admitted it outright. "I had to test if she really has any ability."
Jin Fan was furious. "You call that a test? That was a blatant challenge! If my Great-Grandmother hadn’t been clever enough to resolve the situation, her reputation would have been ruined! I told you Jin Muyang wasn’t your biological son and even handed you the paternity test, but you still didn’t believe it and had it retested! You don’t just doubt , you doubt Great-Grandmother too! Is this what you ant by ’making it up to ’?"
"Xiao Fan, calm down. It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s that this matter is too important. I had to investigate thoroughly before making a decision."
"I can let go of how you treated in the past! But you can’t use your dirty tricks on Great-Grandmother!
If it weren’t for her, I’d still be living with Jin Muyang’s cursed fate! She’s my savior, and I won’t let anyone go against her!"
In a fit of rage, he tore off his suit jacket, ripped off his tie, and slamd them onto the desk. "I’m telling you, Jin Huai Zhong, I don’t want your damn money! And I don’t want to inherit your fortune either!"
With that, he stord out, slamming the door behind him.
When he returned to Shen Zhiyao’s house, he had dyed his hair green again. His head hung low, and he looked completely lifeless.
Shen Zhiyao gave him a casual glance and imdiately knew what had happened.
"Why are you so angry over such a small thing? I don’t even care, so why should you?"
Jin Fan imdiately shot back, "I just can’t stand seeing anyone bully you, even if it’s my own father!"
Shen Zhiyao sighed. "Sigh... You think too highly of your father, and you underestimate . Also, don’t think I don’t know what’s on your mind."
Jin Fan instantly felt like he had no secrets from Shen Zhiyao. He scratched his head shyly. "Anyway, I just can’t stand him targeting you! I just wanted to stand up for Great-Grandmother and give him a piece of my mind."
Jin Fan added, "Maybe it’s because Jin Huai Zhong wasn’t good to when I was a kid, so I’ve always resented him a little. Or maybe it’s that the Jin Group is just too big, and I’m scared I won’t be able to handle it if it falls to . Or it could be that I hate the boring monotony of an office job and prefer a life of freedom."
"Back then, I felt that no matter how I stood, wearing a proper suit just felt uncomfortable. My identity shouldn’t be pinned down, and I shouldn’t have to give up the things I like for other people."
"Sigh... after I caused a scene in his office, I went and dyed my hair green. What do you think? Looks good, doesn’t it!"
Shen Zhiyao looked at his striking green hair and couldn’t help but smile. "I think this color looks great, too. It really suits you!"
Hearing Shen Zhiyao say that, Jin Fan instantly perked up. "Right?! I even styled it after a Japanese ani character! Can you tell who it is?"
Shen Zhiyao shook her head.
Jin Fan ran a hand through his hair and said confidently, "The three-sword style swordsman, Sorong! It’s so distinctive! How could you not tell?"
"Most importantly, Sorong and I have sothing in common. Do you know what it is?"
Shen Zhiyao still didn’t know.
Jin Fan touched his nose and raised an eyebrow. "Of course, you can’t tell just by looking! After all, we’re both geniuses!"
Shen Zhiyao: "..."
"You, a genius? Looking like that?" the Red-clothed Ghost suddenly appeared and said. "If you count as a genius, then wouldn’t that make a super-invincible-ga-genius?"
She was carrying shopping bags of all sizes.
At this point, she could almost pass for a Beijing Circle socialite. Dressed head-to-toe in designer brands and sporting black-frad sunglasses, she looked incredibly chic.
Jin Fan chuckled at the Red-clothed Ghost’s words. Just as he was about to explain that Sorong was a martial arts prodigy, the White-clothed Ghost rushed out of the basent.
Seeing the Red-clothed Ghost’s new look, the White-clothed Ghost grabbed her and peppered her with questions.
The Red-clothed Ghost smiled, sharing the clothes, jewelry, and shoes with the White-clothed Ghost. When the White-clothed Ghost saw that there were gifts for her, she hugged the Red-clothed Ghost and spun her around in circles.
Poor Jin Fan. In just a few short days, his allowance had been completely cleaned out.
Fortunately, the White-clothed Ghost instantly took a liking to him. She pulled him aside, bombarding him with questions and even asking if he needed a bodyguard.
With a miserable look on his face, Jin Fan stuck his hands in his pockets. "I don’t think I can afford to hire you as a bodyguard this month. My allowance is almost gone. How about I hire you next month instead?"
After a mont’s thought, he realized the problem. "I just had a falling out with my dad, so I have no idea if I’ll even get an allowance next month."
Shen Zhiyao asked, "Are you really planning to stay on bad terms with him?"
Jin Fan lowered his head and didn’t speak, because he didn’t know what to do next either.
Shen Zhiyao said, "Do what you want about everything else, but don’t forget your promise to get into the entertainnt industry!"
Jin Fan was suddenly reminded. "That’s right! I promised to get you into the entertainnt industry, how could I forget! But... I’ve already had a falling out with my dad. What am I supposed to do now?"
The smile vanished from Shen Zhiyao’s face. "So? Are you really going to back out?"
"Back out? No way! What’s my pride compared to my Great-Grandmother! I’ll call my dad right now and tell him I want Yuanqi Entertainnt!" Jin Fan imdiately pulled out his phone and called Jin Huai Zhong.
Jin Huai Zhong had only one precious son. Forget an entire company; if Jin Fan asked for the stars, Jin Huai Zhong would have found a way to pluck them from the sky for him.
One phone call later, Yuanqi Entertainnt belonged to Jin Fan.
After hanging up, Jin Fan reported back to Shen Zhiyao like an eager lackey. "All set. My dad said Yuanqi Entertainnt is mine to manage from now on. Great-Grandmother, getting you into the entertainnt industry will be a breeze. As long as I’m around, I’ll pour all the company’s resources into you and make you a superstar!"
Shen Zhiyao said, "I don’t want the kind of fragile, manufactured fa that Kang Naixin has, the kind that shatters at the slightest touch. I want to have a strong public presence, the kind that earns the genuine trust of the audience."
She rested her chin on her hand, thinking. "I’m no good at dancing or acting, so I might as well start with variety shows."
"Easy peasy. I’ll head over to Yuanqi Entertainnt right now and see what variety shows you can join."
With that, Jin Fan quickly took his leave, a flicker of anticipation in his heart. ’Great-Grandmother is going to join the entertainnt world. With looks like hers, she’s bound to take the internet by storm!’
At 10:00 PM, Shen Zhiyao started her livestream as usual.
She had previously promised her fans free fortune-telling sessions on the first and fifteenth of the lunar month as a special treat.
As it happened, today was the fifteenth, so the viewers in her stream were especially active, trying even harder to get a spot to connect with her.
Not long after she went live, her stream shot to the top of the taphysics chart.
This gave her a huge amount of exposure. Plus, her stream’s title, "Xiao Shen’s Fortune-Telling," was very catchy.
Soon, a flood of newcors entered the stream, asking how the fortune-telling worked. The regular fans were quick to answer their questions.
So thought that so-called livestream fortune-telling was just so hocus pocus on the internet. Others, however, thought Shen Zhiyao was quite pretty and that her fans would be more than happy to watch if she did so suggestive dancing.
Just then, the first lucky person of the night connected to the stream.
A dark image appeared on the screen, showing the inside of what looked like a mud-and-thatch hut.
Before anyone could process it, a man with a ghastly green glow on his face popped into view, startling everyone.
A closer look revealed that it was just the light from his screen reflecting off his face, making it appear green. It was quite jarring at first glance.
In reality, he was just an ordinary, middle-aged man.
