The tension between the group was negligible; all of them remained carefree.

Most of them were resting, until a sudden pop-up appeared in front of their eyes.

Aria’s voice ca out low, a bit shocked. "What? Quest cleared already?"

Aren was sleeping, but he woke up because of the sudden loud noise of the system.

"AHHH!!! Ambush!! Ambush!!"

Soone banged their fist on his head, and a loud BONK filled the camp.

"Shut up, you idiot," Zane said.

Aren groaned, rubbing his head lightly. "Zane, you fucker." He said in pain.

A voice ca out of nowhere, as both of them moved their heads in unison.

But no one was in their sight.

"Read the room, you both," Owen said, revealing himself from his stealth.

Leon remained seated in the corner of the room alone, ignoring the others.

A thought curled up in his mind as he looked at the panel.

’We finished the quest? Did Alaric and knights win already?’

Before they all could think of doing sothing regarding this sudden quest completion.

Roars erupted from outside. They didn’t sound any dangerous, but more like that of grieving.

All of them got stunned by the sudden grieving.

"Let’s go and check... keep your guard up," Aria said.

They nodded as they followed behind Aria.

Leon remained at the back, but eyes were scanning the surroundings.

’Darian, Draviel... no need to wait for my signal, co out by your own when the situation arises.’

"Yes, my liege." Darian’s voice rang inside his mind.

Draviel remained calm and didn’t reply.

When they all reached outside, their eyes fell on the sword faction soldiers.

There were only a handful of them left, and the remaining ones were not in a good state either.

So of them had their limbs cut off, so had deep scars imbued on their face.

And Alaric was walking in front, eyes remained grounded as if he was feeling ashad to lift them.

Aria made her way towards him, and her guild mbers followed behind.

She scanned Alaric, worry fell onto her. "What happened to you? I didn’t think that you were the one to let your soldiers die that easily?" She said.

Alaric wasn’t able to answer; his gaze remained grounded.

Soone from behind him stepped forward. "They..." he took a small break as if he struggled to talk about what happened.

"They had undead in their knight order. We killed them... but they didn’t die."

His fists clenched as his voice stuttered, the last words dissolved into quiet sobs.

They all got stunned; no one dared to utter even a single word.

Aria extended her hand and grabbed the shoulder of Alaric. "Tell what happened, Alaric?" She asked, tone filled with concern.

He didn’t say anything.

A small sigh left her mouth, grabbed her forehead. "Okay, fine... No need to talk, take your ti."

Aren whispered sothing to Kade. "Hey, don’t you think his ego took a huge blow?"

Kade didn’t reply at first, but then he did. "Don’t talk like that, he lost his fellow soldiers... didn’t you notice what Aria felt when Rex died? And here he lost most of his n."

Aren’s gaze fell on the ground, fists clenched. "I’m sorry." He muttered.

Kade’s eyes widened slightly. ’This idiot... he’s saying sorry?’

Alaric’s voice finally filled the air. "That was my mistake. I didn’t think they’d have undead, or any other variables in their faction." He said, his voice had pain buried inside of it.

No one dared to let even a bit of voice out. They just stared at him.

"Tch... you don’t have to take the bla on yourself," Aria said, patting the shoulder of Alaric.

Alaric shook his head lightly as he said. "You all are rcenaries... what do you people even know about honour and responsibilities?"

A vein popped through Aren’s forehead, his lips parted, seed as if he was about to shout.

But before he could, Zane had already covered his mouth.

"MMMM!!!! MMM!!!" Aren tried to say sothing.

"Shut up, idiot. You’re proving the point behind his words." Zane said.

Aria turned around and simply walked towards the camp’s exit.

She didn’t say anything, but her presence gave the signal to her guild mbers.

All of them followed behind her, except Aren.

He stayed behind for Leon.

Leon was standing in the corner, looking at the scene unfold.

He made his way towards Leon and said. "You co with us too, Ragnar... there’s no need to stay here with people who don’t respect hard work." Said while looking at Alaric through the side of his eye.

Leon gave a light nod as both of them walked together towards the exit.

Aria stopped next to a tree and slamd her arm into it.

The tree’s trunk broke slightly, but her arm got bruised.

"What the fuck does that old man think he is? Is he the only one who lost his n?"

"Fucking narcissist!!" She said out loud.

She took so ti for herself, but cald herself down.

Her head turned towards Leon, who had just arrived alongside Aren.

"Hey, Ragnar." She said, walking towards him, her steps steady.

Leon remained calm, eyes looking right into her eyes.

"Yes?" He asked.

She extended her hand forward and said. "Join my guild."

A smile appeared on her face, as if there was no kind of greed behind it.

"What? Why ?" He said, confusion was buried inside his tone.

"I think we got a bit too close for to ask you out to join the guild."

She took a small pause, but then continued. "And that idiot asked to invite you." She looked at Aren.

Leon’s eyes drifted towards him.

Aren was standing beside him, arms resting behind his head, with a bright smile on his face.
