[Lantern of the Damned]

- Equipnt Rank: Ultra Rare

- Trapped souls: 40

Standing inside the elevator, Blaze takes a look at the Lantern.

It is one of the first items that ever fell into his hand. It's also the first one that was bound to him.

Originally, the Lantern was rather useless with only one useful Hidden Power, Soul Flare. Soul Reap was interesting but, in the end, served no purpose.

And then the bind happened.

It beca Blaze's most useful and powerful item. Not only is it superb at gathering intel, it is perfect for letting those monsters feel part of the pain they have caused to others. The enslaving power is also extrely useful.

Blaze always knows that this Lantern has potential.

Now, it has the chance to beco more powerful.

"Go check the basent first."

Blaze says.

Isaac nods, then turns into a fireball and phases through the elevator.

Blaze doesn't want to be ambushed right out of the door and die a pointless death, so he ordered Isaac to scout first.

In the anti, Blaze feeds ten souls to the Lantern.

[The Lantern is full. Digestion process begins.]

Ten yellow souls fly to the edges of the Lantern and fuse with it. The Lantern starts to pulsate a few tis, similar to that of a heartbeat, before settling down and radiating a faint yellow light.

[Digestion Ti: 4:37:23]

"Four hours. You really are no different than a pet."

Blaze mumbles.

[Remaining Experience Points: 3820 EXP]

He is now wealthy again. No longer the experience beggar an hour ago.

But now is not a really good ti to spend these.

Isaac flies in from the outside, turning back into a raven and landing on Blaze's shoulder.

"Well?"

"Alyson is safe. The Pale Harpy is on standby, just outside of the room.

There are only two B-rank Awakeners guarding the capsules."

"You recognize them?"

"No. Maybe William can. I am not familiar with this place."

"That is easy to solve."

Back in the capsule room, Issac phases through the wall again and then lands in a secluded place to turn back into the raven.

His five red eyes blink and turn into five yellow irises, those that resemble Blaze.

"William knows about these two.

The black-haired man has Super Reflex and the bald guy has an indestructible head.

Wait... Are they really B-rank?"

Different from the C-rank, the B-rank at the Roof rarely uses their power. At best they would use it for leisure or showing off. All the heavy stuff is taken care of by the Cs.

Therefore William doesn't really know the extent of the B-rank powers inside the Roof.

Isaac returns to his shoulder, and they both go down in the elevator. There is no ambush, so they are free to move.

The elevator emits a satisfied 'ding' sound, and the door creakily opens.

Blaze strides on the ground. The Tattered Cloak makes his walk look like he is floating through space.

The basent is filled with prison cells and dorms of captive girls. Blaze even sees so n being held here. The depravity really does not distinguish between sexes.

"How many people are down here?"

"Around fifty captives, Master."

"Go find William. He should be at the front gate. Tell him to lead these people out."

"Yes, Master. It's going to be a long process. There are only a few elevators I have seen."

"No need for that."

Blaze takes out his Destruction Wand and blasts the basent roof. A lightning bolt drills a hole that leads directly to the first floor.

"There. That should be sufficient."

"Haha..." Isaac laughs stiffly.

He flies away in his raven form, leaving Blaze alone with the Pale Harpy.

The girl sees him and imdiately stiffens. She avoids looking directly at his face and fidgets her finger.

She didn't know the kid who enslaved her was also the malevolent creature she encountered last night. Now, everything makes so much sense.

In the end, the Harpy drops down on her knees like a dieval servant should and lowers her head.

"Master!"

"Please, we are not that kind of relationship. Stand up."

"Oh... Okay."

The Pale Harpy stands up clumsily, still avoiding looking Blaze directly in the eyes.

"I haven't gotten the chance to ask for your na."

The Pale Harpy laughs. You were trying to get rid of quickly. Of course you didn't have the chance.

"My real na is Rachel McAvoy. But people call Rae or the Pale Harpy."

"Nice to et you, Rae."

"Haha." Sweat runs on Rae's face.

"You can go."

"You don't want my help?"

"It's two B-rank Awakeners. Are you sure you want to help?"

Rae shakes her head profusely.

"Definitely not!"

"Then go."

Rae gets away. She turns back to the figure for one last ti. mory of Blaze's actual appearance still lingers in her face.

He's actually very cute. Why is he wearing this outfit?

The Harpy ponders, but then she rembers the reason why she wears a mask also. To protect her identity and those around her.

He will be a great asset to the Underground Network. Maybe I should recomnd him to the Handler.

"Wraith!"

Rae says. Blaze turns his head slightly, signaling that he's listening.

"Thank you for rescuing . How can I contact you later?"

"I will co to you."

"Alright. Rember to do that. I'll recomnd you to the Network."

Then she disappears behind the walls.

The Underground Network, the largest superheroes organization with the most Awakened mbers in Ranas.

The Steel Legion is created and controlled by the Institution.

The Academy has the hands of both the Federation and Vox inside.

The Underground Network is the only group that is free from the Giants influence. You can say it is a land of fortune for the bold.

But as big as it is, its power is scattered as the Network does not have true leadership. Each to their own, and the relationships between the Network mbers are purely transactional.

Joining it is not a bad idea for Blaze, as he values his privacy above all, and the Network does not require your true identity.

They go by code nas or titles, similar to the Pale Harpy.

Blaze gets rid of the thought and looks back at the entrance to the capsule room.

He raises the Destruction Wand, and it fires.

The lightning breaks apart the door. Inside, Hugo and Anton get ready to fight.

They lower their center point of balance and square up.

Hugo, the black-haired guy, is tall and skinny, wearing the goon uniform with the white tank top and black pants.

The other, Anton, is kind of big and short. He has no hair but a smooth, almost gleaming scalp.

"Who dares attack our establishnt?"

"Surrender now, aggressor! And we will promise you a peaceful death!"

Hugo does so kind of martial art form, waving his hand in an embarrassing manner.

Anton stomps his feet down like a sumo wrestler, then spins his neck chaotically like he has so sort of whiplash.

Blaze stands still, feeling a bit surprised by the weird antique of the enemies.

He decides to match their energy.

"Surrender now, and your soul may not be burned for eternity more."

"Hohoho!"

Hugo does a weird laugh.

"No enemies can make us surrender!

Anton!"

"Hugo!"

"We are the Dynamic Twins! Co and fight, aggressor!"

"Where did Nadyr find you guys..." Blaze raises his bone wand.
