As you were speaking, you hurriedly pulled out your phone to call Wei Shuxian to confirm his location, but unexpectedly, your phone rang just at that mont. When you looked, it was Wei Shuxian calling!
"Glasses, where are you?"
"I’m on the windowsill on the ninth floor. I can see you guys."

"Alright."
You hung up the phone, turned to Nie Ying beside you, and asked, "Even you can’t sense anything?"
Nie Ying shook her head slightly. "Like Glasses said on the phone, we walked around after going in but didn’t find anything, just felt a strange atmosphere covering the place."
You glanced over your shoulder and said to the three of them, "Let’s go, no matter what, we should have a look inside first."
Just as you entered the lobby of the building, Wei Shuxian and Liao Yong happened to walk out of the elevator.
You noticed Wei Shuxian was holding a compass and couldn’t help but ask, "Is the compass reacting?"
"There is a reaction, but the magnetic field here is so chaotic that the compass needle can’t find a steady direction."
"Let see."
Taking the compass from Wei Shuxian’s hand, you walked around the spacious lobby and noticed that the compass needle kept spinning with your movents, but it never stopped; it seed to be interfered by a strong magnetic field.
Yang Kai ca over and said, "Old Shu, I rember reading in a book that ghosts can’t exist in chaotic magnetic fields because it confuses their senses, eventually driving them mad. Since the magnetic field here is so chaotic, we should have spotted any ghosts if there were any; if not, then why are these strange occurrences happening?"
You looked around, and just then, the sound of an elevator door opening ca from the elevator area, soon followed by the sound of footsteps.
Everyone turned to look, but no one was seen.
The footsteps grew nearer, but there was only the sound with no sight of any person, or anything, passing by.
Not until the footsteps faded towards the exit did the people by your side start to speak.
Wei Shuxian frowned and asked you, "What was that just now? Did you see anything?"
You shook your head slightly: "Just the sound, nothing else."
"What... what’s going on?" Yang Kai, upon hearing this, inched closer to Nie Ying and instinctively glanced behind.
Xian Qianling spoke up, "This is one of the strange occurrences that people often encounter in this building. I’ve investigated before, and many have heard these odd footsteps."
After so thought, you asked Xian Qianling, "What about the building’s security guards?"
Yang Kai gestured outside, "They’re outside drinking tea. I’ll call a couple of them in."
With that, Yang Kai turned and ran out.
Soon, Yang Kai brought back two security guards who looked quite old. Normally, the security guards in such buildings are young. It’s rare for soone to employ guards over forty, but the combined ages of these two exceeded one hundred years.
After giving them a quick glance, you couldn’t help but ask with a smile, "Uncles, it must be hard working as security guards at your age, right?"
One of them replied with a smile, "The pay here is good, and the young people get scared off one after another. Only those of us who are older and in need of money would take the job."
"Is this place really as sinister as they say?"
The other guard said, "Young man, this place is truly bizarre. In other places, strange things happen only at night, but here, you can encounter unclean presences in broad daylight."
"Can you be more specific?"
The guard thought for a bit and said, "It’s hard to explain, but I’ll take you guys to experience it directly."
Upon hearing this, Yang Kai gave the guard a thumbs-up, "Wow, uncle, you’re impressive. They say the older you get, the smaller your courage, but yours looks pretty big to ."
"The company’s boss pays us double what others get, so not to ntion anything else, just for this salary alone, we’ve got to give it our all."
The two guards led you all into the elevator.
After entering the elevator, the guards didn’t press any floor buttons or the door close button, as if waiting for sothing.
Seeing this, you couldn’t help but ask, "Uncle, what are you waiting for?"
Before the guard could answer, the elevator doors closed automatically, followed by the lights for the fourth and seventh floors on the keyboard lighting up by themselves.
You and Xian Qianling exchanged glances, with the latter asking the guards, "The elevator isn’t broken, is it?"
The guard laughed, "The elevator isn’t broken. If we pressed a floor imdiately upon entering, this wouldn’t happen. But if we enter and do nothing, it’ll automatically stop on the fourth and seventh floors."
"But we’ve just been to the fourth and seventh floors and didn’t find anything."
"That’s because you’re not familiar with the place. In the past month and a half, lots of strange things have happened here, especially on the fourth floor. Within two weeks, two companies on this floor moved out." One of the guards took the lead and stepped out.
"What has happened here?" Wei Shuxian asked.
"Shh," the guard who stepped out suddenly made a "silence" gesture, "listen."
"Clip-clop... clip-clop... clip-clop..."
Before long, the sound of a woman’s high heels echoed in the empty corridor, moving from far to near, then receding into the distance.
But you had already activated your Sen Luo Eye the mont you entered the building, yet you couldn’t see the slightest clue, increasing the mystery in your heart.
The other guard said, "At this ti, you hear strange sounds like a woman walking in high heels. If you are here around nine in the evening, then you’ll hear a woman’s sobbing coming from the restroom. It’s a startling, whimpering sound."

"Is there anyone else in the building at night besides you?" you asked.
A guard shook his head, "No more, less than five companies remain in this building, and the boss had to make great efforts to retain them. The condition they demanded for staying was three years of free rent. So, with the rent waived, the bosses of these five companies set their staff’s leaving ti to three in the afternoon to avoid any incidents."
After thinking for a mont, you asked again, "What kind of strange events happened on the seventh floor?"
