"Clang!" Wind Slasher rang out as it left its scabbard, but just as you were about to unleash a killing spree, the gray wolves suddenly retreated, and an entirely snow-white little wolf trotted right up to you.

The little wolf whimpered at you, then rubbed its body against your leg.

"Hmm?" You sheathed your blade and picked up the little wolf. "Little guy, could it be that you’re their leader?"

"Woof." The little wolf barked happily.

"Do you want to co with ?"

"Woof." The little wolf made the sa sound again.

Finding the little creature adorable, you naturally found yourself wanting to adopt it.

After all, you raised Little Hei since childhood, and you have an instinctive fondness for canines.

"Alright, in that case, from now on, you’ll be my, Mu Yun’s—no, Hungry Wolf’s—companion!"

Then you tilted your head back and howled loudly, mimicking the roar of the Wolf King. With that one howl, the surrounding gray wolves imdiately and uniformly bowed their proud heads to you.

In the days that followed, sothing that shocked all the traders occurred. On the vast northern Cissirya Prairie, a massive pack of gray wolves suddenly appeared. What scared people even more was that their leader was a human—a living, breathing human!

"Miss, we’ve arrived at White Hat Town."

The innkeeper helped a beautiful woman dressed in red step down from the carriage. She smiled and nodded at him. Watching her gracefully walk away, the innkeeper murmured to himself, "If only I were twenty years younger."

Of course, even if he were a hundred years younger, it wouldn’t have mattered. That woman would never have set her eyes on him. After all, for the past month, she had been searching for a man—a man who had made her heart flutter, a man she had decided to follow for the rest of her life.

"Excuse , have you seen a tall man? He’s about half a head taller than , very handso, wears a green bracelet on his right hand, and carries a long knife."

"Miss, why are you looking for him?" The inn owner, a rather friendly-looking dwarf with a long white beard, asked.

"You’re not planning to cut off his head to claim the bounty, are you?"

"No, not at all, I..."

"Miss, I suggest you give up on that idea. Hungry Wolf is not soone you can handle."

"Hungry Wolf? Who is that?" the woman asked, perplexed.

"Aren’t you looking for him?"

"No, I’m looking for soone nad Mu Yun."

"But the person you described is Hungry Wolf. He’s now the King of Gray Wolves on the Cissirya Prairie. Even our northern army wouldn’t dare lay a finger on him, let alone a young lady like you. Over the past two weeks, countless adventurers have gone to kill Hungry Wolf. And the results? Not one returned alive. Those who sohow did return only did so by resurrecting at a new Resurrection Point. According to their accounts, Hungry Wolf is a devil—a demon who kills without blinking an eye!"

"Uncle Walton." At that mont, an elegantly pretty woman walked in. "I’d like five pounds of beef jerky and a bottle of your finest fruit wine."

"Mo’er, why are you buying so much beef?"

"Iron Brother and I are going to see my benefactor. He loves the beef jerky here, so I’m bringing more this ti."

"Alright, just a mont."

"Mo’er."

"Hmm?" Mo’er turned her head, looking at the strikingly beautiful woman before her with a puzzled expression. "Do we know each other?"

"We’ve t once before," the woman replied with a smile.

"Sorry, I don’t rember where I saw you," Mo’er said.

"That’s alright. I just want to ask—is the benefactor you’re talking about Mu Yun?"

"You know our benefactor?"

"Yes, we’re friends," the woman said.

Hearing this, Mo’er imdiately smiled and said, "Perfect! We’re heading to see him now. It’ll be dangerous for you to go alone—co with ."

"Thank you." The woman smiled.

"No need to thank . If you’re a friend of my benefactor, then you’re my friend too. If it weren’t for him saving back then, I wouldn’t be alive today."

"Mo’er, here you go." Walton handed a large package to Mo’er.

"Thank you, Uncle Walton." Mo’er paid before leading the woman in red out of the tavern and toward a carriage parked outside. "Iron Brother, this is the benefactor’s friend. She needs us to take her to see him."

Iron Brother was a simple and honest man with a stout build, the picture of rugged reliability.

"Sure thing! If she’s a friend of the benefactor, we certainly won’t refuse."

And so, under Iron Brother’s guidance, the three of them left White Hat Town and headed straight for the prairie.

"By the way, I still don’t know your na."

"I’m Hong Yan," the woman replied.

Hong Yan’s smile was so enchanting that even Mo’er couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy. Laughing, she said, "Are you the benefactor’s girlfriend? You suit each other so well."

"Haha, it’s just my wishful thinking. Soone like could never be good enough for him. As long as I can stay by his side, I’m content."

The carriage rolled on for a long ti through the prairie. But during the entire journey, they surprisingly didn’t encounter a single wolf, which struck Hong Yan as strange. Just then, a lodious flute lody drifted into their ears. The sound was hauntingly beautiful, as if pouring out the flutist’s inner loneliness and sorrow, telling a poignant story to Mother Nature itself.

"It’s the benefactor playing the flute," Mo’er smiled. "He’s so captivating when he plays. I was completely srized the first ti I heard him."

The carriage ca to a stop, and Mo’er got off with Hong Yan. As Hong Yan stepped down, she saw a man sitting atop a stone on a hill, his back turned to them. The prairie wind tugged at his clothes, making them flutter dramatically. Sensing their arrival, the man stopped playing and turned, smiling as he addressed Iron Brother: "What brings you here?"

"Benefactor, we brought beef for you!" Mo’er replied, lifting the large package in her hands.

"Woof!" Out of nowhere, a white shadow darted from behind you, charging straight at Mo’er!

"You little rascal, trying to steal my at!"

Before finishing the word "steal," you had already seized the package from Mo’er’s hands, with your right hand gripping a small white wolf.

The little wolf had sunk its teeth into your arm, yet you refused to let go. Man and wolf stood at a stalemate like this.

Mo’er, evidently accustod to such scenes, smiled as she retrieved another package from the carriage. She said to the little white wolf, "Little White, your food is here."

"Woof!" As soon as Mo’er spoke, the white shadow bolted into her arms, licking her face eagerly with its tongue.

"Utterly shaless, a traitor who’s always led by at," you remarked with a grin. "By the way, this person is...?"

You hadn’t noticed Hong Yan earlier, but upon seeing her face clearly, your expression suddenly changed. In a low voice, you said, "Why are you here? To claim the bounty on my head?"

"No, I..."

"I don’t want to see you. Leave," you said firmly.
