Chapter 1214: Chapter 1214: Extra Story of the Eel 51

It’s not scary to have too many sches, but it’s terrifying when those sches are crooked. Otherwise, if soone played dirty, with her daughter’s personality, she’d definitely lose out.

Su Man’s mom mulled things over countless tis in her mind, and after chatting with Lu Yuwen for a while longer, she had basically asked everything she wanted to know.

She couldn’t say she was completely satisfied, but she finally felt confident. Just then, Su Man’s dad called, so she left Su Man and Lu Yuwen to have so ti alone while she headed to the hospital.

As soon as her mom left, Su Man let out a huge sigh of relief.

Her mom had practically interrogated eight generations of Lu Yuwen’s family; even Su Man felt embarrassed on her mom’s behalf!

“Sorry about that…” Su Man mumbled awkwardly, scrubbing vegetables as she spoke, “My mom isn’t usually like this. I don’t know what got into her today. Maybe…”

She paused for a mont and muttered under her breath, “Maybe she’s hit nopause.”

Lu Yuwen chuckled, “You’d talk about your mom like that?”

“It’s no big deal. I always say that,” Su Man said easily. “She even says it herself. Every ti she loses her temper with my dad, she blas it on nopause and tells him to be more understanding.”

Lu Yuwen couldn’t hold back this ti and laughed out loud. At the sa ti, he also found it quite touching: “Your parents have a really great relationship.”

“It’s okay, I guess…” Su Man smiled. Thinking about Lu Yuwen’s family situation, she decided not to say much more. She felt that talking up her own family might unintentionally rub salt in his wounds.

She focused on washing the vegetables, running fresh water over them and washing them a second ti. She scrubbed a handful of radishes until they were glistening and fresh.

From the cutting board ca the rhythmic sound of chopping, swish-swish-swish, which drew her attention. The ingredients in his hands were being neatly and thodically cut into various sizes and shapes, creating an inexplicably satisfying sight.

Imnsely relaxing.

“Actually, I quite liked being questioned by your mom like that,” Lu Yuwen said unhurriedly as he cut a piece of at into evenly sized slices.

Su Man froze for a mont and looked up at him.

Lu Yuwen smiled at her, placing the neatly cut at into a glass bowl and marinating it with seasoning.

“The more she asks, the happier I am,” he said.

“Why is that?” Su Man stared at him blankly, unable to understand. How could anyone enjoy being interrogated like that?

He took the radishes from her hands, his lips curling slightly in a soft smile, seemingly in a good mood. “The more she asks, at least it ans she doesn’t dislike , doesn’t it?”

Su Man furrowed her brows and thought about it. It did kind of make sense…

Lu Yuwen handed her two more potatoes to continue washing.

Actually, there was sothing he didn’t say out loud, and that was: The more she asks, the more it shows that Su Man’s mom is satisfied with him.

This principle is especially evident in the marriage market—if soone can’t accept you in one particular aspect, they’ll usually pass on you imdiately, without wasting energy probing into other aspects of your life.

Just like how so n won’t even consider a woman over 25, dismissing them as “too old”;

Or how so won deem any man under 180cm to be “half-crippled” and imdiately swipe left.

But Su Man’s mom kept asking, and her questions grew more detailed. This showed that in all the ways that mattered, he fit into Su Man’s mom’s criteria.

Even though, in their conversation, he had cautiously revealed so of his flaws—like growing up in a single-parent household, or having struggled with poor health in the past, or the fact that he had a father who was missing in action…

But Su Man’s mom didn’t show any signs of being bothered or rejecting him.

Lu Yuwen couldn’t help but think: Su Man is wonderful, and her parents are wonderful too…

In the face of the magnanimity and kindness of this family, all his little calculations and petty thoughts over the years seed so laughable, so insignificant…

Yes, insignificant.

For soone like him, feeling insignificant was a default state of mind. Even though he worked hard to adjust, to carefully conceal, even to put on a good facade, he knew he had to confront this fact—

In the presence of all things beautiful, he would always feel insignificant.
