Chapter 1202: Chapter 1202: Extra Story of Eel 39
Li Li thought to himself, if it’s really a pit of fire, just let her jump in! Once she’s jumped and learned her lesson, maybe she won’t be so stubborn anymore. Otherwise, with that thick-headed brain of hers, trying to reason with her is no better than playing the lute to a cow—and he’d end up furious, driving himself crazy!
—Anyway, no matter what he says to her, they always end up arguing in the end.
Thinking about all this was annoying, so he just decided to let her do whatever she wanted!
Li Li turned off his phone and rolled over to sleep.
…
He had a dreamless night.
When he woke up the next morning, he habitually picked up his phone to check the ti. He noticed Wu Xinghai had sent him two more ssages after he’d fallen asleep last night, asking where Su Man bought the clothes she was wearing and saying his girlfriend liked them.
Li Li pretended to have not seen them and directly got up to freshen up for the day.
Downstairs, breakfast was already prepared—pan-fried buns, rice cakes, mini deep-fried dough sticks, and five-grain soy milk were laid out on the table.
Li Li’s mother was holding a watering can, carefully tending the Clivia in the dining room. When she saw her son coming downstairs, she said softly, “You’re up! What ti are you heading to the research institute today?”
“In the afternoon.” Li Li walked to the table and sat down, casually picking up a piece of rice cake.
“Oh, so you don’t have anything planned for the morning?” Li Li’s mom asked.
“Nope, nothing to do,” Li Li replied while eating breakfast. “The report the professor wanted has been organized for a while now. I’ll just check it again when I go this afternoon. Why, do you need sothing?”
Li’s mom thought for a mont, then put down the watering can and walked over to discuss with him: “If you’re free this morning, go to the hospital and check in on Su Man’s father. He’s been hospitalized for several days now, and you haven’t gone yet—it’s not very appropriate.”
“Alright, I’ll go later,” Li Li nodded.
Li’s mom reminded him again: “Don’t go too early. Patients need to rest in the morning. Around ten o’clock should be fine.”
Li Li responded irritably, “I’m not stupid—I know.”
His mom knew her son didn’t like being nagged, so she stopped talking and went back to watering the plants.
Li Li continued eating breakfast, but his thoughts kept revolving around the whole situation with Su Man. He felt unsettled. Suddenly, he brought it up: “Hey Mom, I see other families arranging blind dates for their kids. Why haven’t you and Dad done anything like that for ?”
“You’re still young; why would you need a blind date?” Li Li’s mom glanced at him, puzzled, then turned back to fussing over the potted plants. “…But now that you ntion it, you do have a heavy workload with all your research and don’t really get a chance to et girls outside. At the research institute, the won there are older than you—no suitable matches.”
As she spoke, she sighed and slowly shook her head. “Ah, maybe it would actually be a good idea to find soone to introduce you to soone… But you don’t need to rush—you’re only 23. Let’s take our ti and find the right person.”
Li Li listened and couldn’t help feeling a little odd inside.
From what she was saying, it sounded like she hadn’t even considered Su Man anymore?… She used to swear up and down that Su Man should marry into the Li Family, but now she wasn’t ntioning it at all?
“Cough, cough, Mom…” Li Li cleared his throat and asked tentatively, “Didn’t you used to always bring up my arranged match with Su Man? How co now that I’m talking about blind dates, you don’t ntion it anymore?”
Li’s mom paused for a mont before quickly responding, “Always bring it up? I only ntioned it two or three tis! Then I saw that you weren’t happy about it, so how could I dare bring it up after that?”
Li Li quietly sipped his soy milk.
Li’s mom, now on alert, put down everything in her hands and walked over to the table in a few quick steps, asking, “What’s with you today? First, you’re talking about blind dates, then suddenly you bring up your arranged match?”
“It’s nothing,” Li Li replied casually. “I just thought your reaction was a bit strange. I assud you’d strongly oppose going on blind dates and try to persuade to marry Su Man instead.”
