Chapter 1201: Chapter 1201: Extra Story of the Eel 38

Huh huh huh???

Isn’t this Su Man?

Wu Xinghai has been scared of Su Man since childhood, so how could he be having dinner with her?

Taking a closer look, the angle of this photo is a bit tricky, and the distance is kind of far—it’s clearly a secret shot. So, the man dining with Su Man definitely isn’t Wu Xinghai.

What a pity. The angle only captures the man’s back and the back of his head…

Li Li was puzzling to himself: Where did Su Man et this guy?

Another ssage popped up:

[Wu Xinghai: I ran into Su Man at a western restaurant near The Bund! I’m keeping an eye on her for you! How’s that for loyalty?]

Li Li was beyond annoyed and replied:

[Li Li: Why are you watching her? Whoever she eats with has nothing to do with .]

[Wu Xinghai: Nothing to do with you? When did you two break up?]

[Li Li: Shut up! I’ve always been an outstanding single young man from the research institute, okay?!]

[Wu Xinghai: Oh, then I misunderstood.]

Li Li frowned, his eyes lingering on the word “misunderstood.” After a mont, he moved his fingers, zood in on that photo again, and took a closer look.

When they ran into each other at the door earlier, he noticed her dressed all formal and thought she was going to a banquet. Turns out it wasn’t a banquet, but a date…

Usually, she’s all savage and fierce in front of him, yet she’s smiling so sweetly in this photo. If soone who didn’t know her saw this, they’d probably think she’s so elegant young lady of a wealthy family. Reality?

Ugh, she’s just a nasty shrew.

As Li Li kept thinking, a vague restlessness crept into his chest. He put down his phone, lay on his bed for a while, but his annoyance only grew the more he thought about it. He picked up his phone again to look at the photo.

Staring at the picture, he vented internally: Oh, you’ve really outdone yourself this ti, Su Man. Whenever I chat with any girl for more than a few minutes, you glare at like I owe you money. And now here you are sneaking off to et so random guy. Where’d you even et him? Does he even know what kind of person you are? Don’t tell he’s soone your parents set you up with?

At this thought, Li Li froze slightly.

He knew Su Man well. Other than work and training, she never bothered with anything else. She didn’t even have a Weibo account, let alone any of those shady dating apps. So there was no way she’d et soone through her own efforts. But if it were an introduction from her parents… that idea sounded way more plausible.

Li Li’s mood grew just a tiny bit… complicated.

If Su Dad and Su Mom really arranged a blind date for Su Man… then that would an they didn’t think she’d end up with him. Otherwise, why bother setting her up with soone else?

To be honest, even Li Li himself hadn’t really figured things out.

He’s always thought those childhood engagent promises sounded incredibly dumb. He also wasn’t planning to get into any relationships for the ti being. At the very least, he wasn’t going to think about it until after graduating with his PhD.

So why was the Su Family in such a rush?

Setting up a blind date at just 23 years old?

Li Li found this utterly bizarre.

He considered calling Su Man to ask, but then felt like that’d be losing face. Frustrated, he decided to ignore it and just sleep instead.

But soone clearly wasn’t going to let him sleep.

Just as Li Li was inching toward slumber, Wu Xinghai called again, his phone ringing incessantly.

“What now?!” Li Li asked irritably.

“Major discovery!” Wu Xinghai’s voice was brimming with gossipy excitent. “Su Man and that guy just left the restaurant. Guess how they left?”

Li Li was utterly speechless. “How? Obviously, they walked out on their feet.”

“Ugh, you’re no fun. I’ll tell you—they took a cab!” Wu Xinghai said. “Get it now? That guy doesn’t have a car! He might look all prim and proper, but turns out he’s just so broke loser. You guys are family friends, right? You should talk to Su Man’s parents and make sure that tomboy doesn’t get scamd.”

Li Li let out a cold laugh. “Wow, aren’t you the Good Samaritan.”

“Heh, we did grow up in the sa neighborhood after all,” Wu Xinghai chuckled mischievously. “I can’t just stand by and watch her jump into a pit of fire, can I?”
