When Anthony announced the start of the match, Silia and Royal’s figures imdiately dashed toward each other in full combat readiness!
Silia suddenly stopped and sharply swung her rapier-like sword toward Royal’s chest!
Whoosh!
Clang!
Royal quickly raised his long two-handed sword and deflected Silia’s rapier, knocking it aside. Without stopping there, he quickly turned the blade downward and brought the sword down!
Whoosh!
Boom!
Silia managed to react in ti and leaned her body to the side. But the place where Royal’s sword landed — the stone floor — was sliced clean through!
Seeing an opening, Silia gripped her rapier tighter and aid it at Royal’s head to slice him!
"Truly impressive," Royal said slowly and instantly activated his ability: "Power of Light".
He imdiately began to glow with a brilliant yellow light, which blinded Silia for several seconds. The light was so intense that so people began to feel extre heat, as if the sun itself had turned its gaze on them!
"Aaah!" Silia cried out and covered her face with her hand, but instinctively swung her rapier, not wanting Royal to strike her in that mont.
Royal scoffed and easily dodged the attack, standing up to his full height. A golden halo of light surrounded him — every part of his clothes and body shone so brightly that it could blind an unprepared person for several seconds.
"I really didn’t want to use this ability, it’s far too strong," Royal held the two-handed sword in one hand and swung it sharply downward, slicing through the stone floor like tofu!
"This is truly one of the strongest abilities at the Awakened level," Aran said slowly, watching Royal with interest.
Lin didn’t want to speak to Aran, but still asked:
"And how special is it? There are countless Awakened in the world — don’t you think many of them have even stronger abilities?"
"Oh? Of course, there are more astonishing abilities in the world. It’s just that the powers his ability grants are so unique, I’d want sothing like that myself..."
Lin frowned and clarified:
"And what exactly does the ability grant? Just enhancent?"
Aran laughed and replied:
"I don’t know exactly what powers he gets from it. But I do know for sure that light makes him stronger — significantly stronger. The more light, the greater the boost."
Lin nodded and didn’t say anything else.
He morized Aran’s words — if he ever had to fight Royal, it would help him imnsely. And truthfully, he felt that mont might co soon.
He kept watching the fight.
Silia took a deep breath and turned the ground beneath her into blue ice!
She activated her own ability: "Touch of Cold", because there was no way she could handle the current Royal — she was certain of that. So, it was better to reveal her cards while she still had the chance!
"Oh? So that’s your "Touch of Cold"? I’ve heard about that ability, especially how well it combines with the sword you were gifted — it slices ice very effectively... But against , it’s useless," Royal said arrogantly, lifting his head, and almost instantly disappeared from his place!
"What?.." Silia didn’t even have ti to form a full thought before Royal appeared behind her and swung his sword!
Whoosh!
The blade sliced through the air — but missed Silia!
Royal scoffed coldly.
"Where did you go?" he looked down and saw Silia crouching and swinging her rapier at his legs!
"In that case..." Royal lifted his leg and stomped it down on the blade of Silia’s rapier!
Boom!
A loud cracking sound rang out, and Royal’s foot instantly bent Silia’s rapier, completely breaking it!
"Silia has lost, her weapon is broken!" Anthony quickly announced and ca over to help Silia stand.
Silia slowly stood up and looked at the small web of cracks where her rapier lay. She clenched her white teeth so tightly it was as if she wanted them to shatter. She murmured softly:
"I lost..."
Royal nodded, and the duration of his ability ended, causing the bright, sun-like halo of light around him to disappear. He looked around in confusion, not understanding what was happening — and then he saw a large red dragon on the roof of the academy building, glaring at him with fury!
"Dragon!" Royal’s eyes widened, and he was about to charge at the dragon to kill it when Anthony slapped him across the face.
Slap!
"Get a grip, Royal. There is no dragon."
Royal looked up and glanced around — and indeed, there was no dragon. He thanked Anthony:
"Teacher Anthony, thank you. As you probably know, my Price is hallucinations — ones that want to follow them. Fortunately, you brought back."
Anthony laughed and patted Royal on the shoulders.
"Of course, of course. I’m always ready to help you like that."
"..."
Silia looked a bit pale and followed Teacher Anthony to rest. Once they left, the entire training ground erupted in noise, full of lively conversation and laughter.
"Haha! I knew Royal would win — his na speaks for itself!"
"I actually feel a bit bad for Silia... But it was such a joy to watch her from behind... I’d-"
"Shut up, you pervert. You wouldn’t be married to her even in your dreams, and she probably already has a fiancé... Truly unfortunate."
"Hey, hey. Don’t be so down. Did you forget where we are? There are thousands of beautiful girls here. Silia just happens to be very talented, which is why you desire her so much."
"Anyway, I don’t get why they fought so fiercely. Other student matches were much lighter..."
"Well, Teacher Anthony didn’t say anything about which techniques and movents were allowed. So I think everything was under his control."
"Isn’t Royal’s ability way too strong? He crossed ten ters in a second and created a web of cracks a ter wide — that’s terrifying!"
"Yeah. Compared to him, Silia’s ability seems like a child’s toy. Haha!"
"At least she has beauty and a good sense of the sword — unlike you."
"I can always develop my bond with a weapon, and beauty — well, I can get that too, so that ans nothing."
"She’s also one of the Five Families."
"..."
...
Aran clapped his hands and congratulated Royal:
"Haha! That was an amazing fight! I felt all your arrogance when you activated your ability — it was so majestic, I even forgot for a second that you were human and not so celestial being."
Royal scoffed coldly at Aran’s flattery — he never liked this guy because of his strange nature. He turned away from Aran and said nothing, not wanting to speak with him.
"Ehhh. Where are you going, Royal?" Aran followed after him, but Royal just looked at him coldly and muttered through gritted teeth:
"Aran, you’d better get away from for now. There’s no teacher here... I might kill you."
"Oh? My murder? How exciting! Death... Haha! I’m ready! Kill , Royal! Let everyone witness it and tell the teacher. After my death, the Mort family will be enraged... truly enraged. The conflict will escalate, and your family — the Arsafon — they’ll burn with fury over your actions..."
Rage boiled in Royal’s head, and he turned away from Aran and ran off so fast that he’d likely tire quickly — but he didn’t care. He just wanted to get away from that madman!
"Wait, Royal! Don’t leave alone!" Aran smiled brightly and ran after him.
Lin and Egro, who had been watching the entire scene, looked at each other. In both their eyes, there was a deep sense of confusion.
"What was that?"
"I don’t know."
