The next day, Lin and Egro were heading toward the training field where the lee weapons faculty was located.
"So you chose this faculty too?"
Egro nodded.
"Of course, my main weapon is the spear. I need to improve my skills with it to beco stronger. Besides, in this faculty, everyone is given the lee weapon of their choice."
Lin nodded, agreeing with Egro’s reasoning, then smiled.
"Then we’ll have plenty of ti to fight each other."
Egro laughed and said:
"Definitely, definitely."
They quickly reached the training field and saw a large number of teenagers standing in a line, listening to the teacher. All of them had stern expressions, as if they were preparing not to learn how to use lee weapons, but to go to war.
Only three students had neutral expressions, and Lin and Egro imdiately recognized them. It was Silia, Royal, and Aran, who looked at everyone emotionlessly, as if they didn’t care about anything.
When the teacher noticed Lin and Egro, he said sternly:
"My words are law, and training is your duty. So get in line, quickly!"
Both nodded obediently and joined the line. Naturally, all the students noticed them, including Silia, who frowned upon seeing Lin.
"This is getting more and more complicated..." she thought.
A few minutes later, the teacher began:
"It’s already ten o’clock, so let’s start. My na is Anthony Crib, and I’ll be your teacher in this faculty for the next year. I won’t co to each of you and ask what weapon you want or what you want to learn... Everyone cos to with a clear purpose — what they need and what they want to fix," he slowly walked past each student, eyeing them harshly, and continued:
"I’m not a cruel teacher to those who put in the effort, but to those who don’t want to train or sothing like that — I sincerely wish you’d leave this faculty sooner. Because if I notice negligence..." his eyes turned red, and steam began to rise from his nose, as if he could explode at any mont.
"Not even the rector will save you... Be diligent so that doesn’t happen," he pointed at the crates filled with various types of weapons and said:
"The weapons are over there. Pick whatever you want and start training. If you have any questions, co to . If you want to spar with soone, also tell ," he looked around at everyone and said:
"I hope you all know how to handle the weapon you chose?"
In response to Anthony’s question, many nodded, while others stayed silent.
Anthony shook his head and said:
"Those who know how to use their weapon, do what I just said. Those who are holding a lee weapon for the first ti — follow . I’ll explain the basics and the movents you need to know until you get the weapon you’ll carry for the rest of your life."
"Teacher, I have a question," Lin raised his hand and said.
Anthony’s eyes lit up. He looked at Lin and imdiately recognized that this young man was very skilled with weapons — and his body. His left hand constantly rested on the sheath of his katana, ready at any mont to draw and cut through soone.
But the strangest thing was not that. Lin stood in what appeared to be a relaxed pose, but at any mont, he could strike with any part of his body. Only those who constantly lived in survival mode could do that.
"So this is Lin... Or rather Lin Matrix. Varen ntioned him — said he was very capable, and that I should be especially cautious with him... Hah. We’ll see about that," Anthony looked at Lin harshly and said:
"I didn’t say questions were freely allowed. But for your boldness, I’ll hear your question."
Lin pointed to his katana and asked:
"Can we use our own weapons? Or is it mandatory to use only the ones provided by the academy?"
Anthony turned away from Lin and replied:
"No. It’s forbidden. Your weapons might be enhanced and differ from the ones we provide. So any weapon not taken from those crates is not allowed! But! That only applies to battles! During regular training on your own, you’re free to use any weapon you wish. That’s all."
Anthony finished and walked to the other side of the field with the half of the students who had never held a lee weapon before.
The other students, who knew how to use weapons, quickly approached the crates and began taking what they needed. Egro also went over and grabbed a spear.
Since Lin had his own katana, there was no point in him grabbing another. Besides, he wasn’t planning to fight anyone yet — he still needed to train.
"Are we supposed to train in the academy uniform? Aren’t we supposed to change?" soone asked.
"They said that in a week, once the faculty selection ends, they’ll start making custom outfits for everyone. So for now, we’ll have to train in the academy uniform. But it’s fine, everyone got two sets — one to use while the other is being washed. Everyone’s satisfied," another guy replied.
Everyone nodded in understanding. Lin didn’t care about uniforms — if necessary, he would train naked. It didn’t bother him at all.
He slowly approached one of the iron dummies and assud a stance.
"I’ve been slashing from top to bottom all this ti. Maybe I should change that and start involving not just my arms but my whole body?" he thought and decided to do just that.
Lin took a deep breath and raised his katana above his head. A mont later, he swung it sharply at the dummy’s left shoulder!
Whoosh!
Clang!
Yellow sparks flew as the blade bounced off, but Lin didn’t stop. He quickly repositioned the katana and swung it again, aiming at the dummy’s left armpit, trying to slice off its arm!
Whoosh!
Clang!
Countless sparks flew from the impact, and the sound grew louder due to the extra force Lin was putting in!
He didn’t stop and continued striking the dummy!
Chzzz!
He tried to cut through the dummy’s chest — but nothing happened!
Clang!
His katana flew toward the dummy’s neck — but bounced off again!
Whoosh!
Clang!
Chzzz!
Lin circled the dummy, delivering powerful blows from all sides, trying to leave any mark on it, but nothing worked!
"Damn it! Why won’t this damn sword respond to !" Lin raised the katana and brought it down hard on the dummy’s head!
Whoosh!
Clang!
The blade bounced off again, this ti even slipping from Lin’s hands and falling onto the stone floor.
Lin scoffed coldly and picked up the katana, continuing to train with it.
Naturally, Lin’s aggressive behavior drew the attention of nearly everyone on the training field — except Anthony’s group.
"What’s wrong with that guy? Why is he so desperately trying to slice that iron dummy?"
"Who knows, maybe he’s one of those combat freaks?"
"Are you talking about Neo?"
"You know him too?"
"Of course! He caused total chaos in the First and Second Leagues! Good thing he moved to the Third League, where his skills finally matched the others."
"Thank God. That guy killed in three strikes!"
" too!"
Standing nearby, Egro smiled awkwardly but decided not to interfere — he knew Lin was special, and his training was too.
"Interesting..." Aran watched Lin’s actions with curiosity.
"His movents... They’re well-practiced, but it’s like the weapon itself is rejecting its wielder. That’s why he can’t properly cut the dummy." Royal quickly analyzed.
Royal raised his golden two-handed sword and brought it down sharply on the iron dummy!
Whoosh!
Chzzz! Bang!
The sword sliced off the dummy’s left arm!
Silia frowned as she observed Lin’s actions — and Royal’s strike. She felt a strong pressure coming from both of them.
"Why is everything becoming so complicated..."
