Chapter 919: Chapter 920: The End of the Transmigration Ladder
“I have a premonition that we will be able to get out soon!” Yan Zuzi said.
“Yes, the recently erging talents are so nurous they make one’s scalp tingle. That little monk called Liaowang, that dog, and just now that what’s-his-na Jinshui, it felt like another millennial reincarnation had passed in a flash!” Yitilou said.
Yan Zuzi: “It seems like it has been a thousand years, right? How old are we this year?”
Yitilou: “How would I know? Weren’t you the one keeping track of ti?”
Yan Zuzi: “???”
…
On the Transmigration Ladder, Li Xiaobai had reached the top of Buddha’s head. From here, the ladder spiraled upwards without support, continuously climbing.
Slowly moving forward, steps were all Xiaobai could see, and he began to feel uneasy, wondering if this Sky Ladder might truly lead straight to the heavens. As he ascended layer by layer, the massive Buddha below rapidly beca smaller and eventually disappeared into a small black point.
All was silent around, with occasional inscriptions visible on the steps.
“In the brink of death, I walk once more, stopping here to inspire future generations!”
This line was left by a master at the brink of death, along with a Buddha’s seal, likely from a temple abbot.
Similar inscriptions followed one after another, so expressing discontent or joy about their ntal state, others sowhat speechless.
Li Xiaobai saw one of the steps engraved with three big characters: “Who else!”
Below it, several lines of smaller characters were inscribed.
“Master is mighty!”
“Great Ancestor is mighty!”
“Great-Uncle Master is mighty!”
“Ancestral Master is mighty!”
These were likely from Disciples of the sa Sect who had co to climb, seeing the Ancestral Master’s carvings and flattering it imnsely. It was not very harmful but highly offensive, perhaps this was what they ant by later generations surpassing the previous ones? One wonders what the Ancestral Master would think if he saw this.
Continuing upwards, dense inscriptions were carved upon the steps; most cultivators stopped here wanting to leave their marks, making it sowhat crowded. Li Xiaobai spotted two familiar nas among them, Yan Zuzi and Yitilou!
“The Buddhist Sect’s ladder ends here, from here on the absolutely pervading force would no longer be Immortal Yuan or Power of Vows but an unknown force, which we cultivators cannot absorb. Trying to cling to it forcefully will only lead to our doom. According to my analysis, the whole purpose of constructing the Transmigration Ladder was to connect it with this latter segnt of steps. Although the ancient saints were cowards with none daring to set foot upon it, how could they stop , Yitilou, who established the Ten Paths of the Heavens!”
This was Yitilou’s inscription. Li Xiaobai paused imdiately upon seeing these words. The things ntioned above were sowhat profound. This Sky Ladder was made by connecting two ends. The segnt that people climbed was crafted by the experts of the Buddhist Sect, intended to connect with the segnt in the sky for continued climbing. But beyond that point, it wasn’t just the Power of Vows anymore; so terrifying power might exist, which even the System could not shield against physical damage.
He continued to search on the steps, and soon he saw another line of small text.
“The above statent is pure nonsense; he was blown away just one step in. The Ten Paths of Heavens is re garbage. For this forbidden zone, look to my Yan Zuzi’s Ten Paths of Netherworld!”
“By the way, I should add that I just saw Zhen Yuanzi and Beichen Feng going in. They are too modest to carve their words so I will say for them, ‘The new cultivation system of the Confucian Path is feasible. Hope successors rember!'”
“As for the garbage from Ice Dragon Island, Hundred Flowers Sect, Five Poison Cult, the systems they created are not even fully understood by themselves, can’t even ascend this segnt of the Buddha’s Transmigration Ladder, absolutely unreliable.”
The inscriptions disappeared completely here; this step seed like a watershed. The previous section was bustling, but further on, not a single mark could be found, as silent as death.
These people seed to be attempting their newly created cultivation techniques, competing with one another, and it seed only new cultivation techniques could proceed to the latter part of the steps. Li Xiaobai recalled the inscription left by Evil God Huo Yun on the stone stele, only those who create a brand new cultivation system could escape the cage.
Hiss!
So, were the two people imprisoned in the Buddha contemporaries of Zhen Yuanzi and Beichen Feng, big shots of their era?
Li Xiaobai found it sowhat unbelievable that such powerful figures could be imprisoned. Were the monks really that strong?
Earlier, he had been perplexed as to why those two had constantly resided at a higher level without being converted into monks, but now it seed likely it was due to the so-called new Cultivation Technique, which could withstand the invasion of the Power of Faith.
“Just going back like this makes feel sowhat reluctant, let’s test sothing.”
He reached into his chest and pulled out a small yellow chicken. He hadn’t noticed before, but upon looking, he was startled. At that mont, the little yellow chicken had a dazed look, shaking its head and muttering, appearing utterly foolish.
It turns out that since entering the Buddha Country, this chicken had been unusually quiet, showing not a hint of disturbance, probably due to being influenced heavily by the dense Power of Faith.
“Xiao Ji, I’m going to throw you in there, what do you think?”
Li Xiaobai asked, pointing ahead.
“The Buddha said, ‘If I do not enter Hell, who will?’ Go ahead.”
The little yellow chicken blinked and spoke lightly, neither joyous nor sad.
“Alrighty!”
Li Xiaobai agreed and, swinging his arm, forcefully threw it ahead. The round, yellow, little figure fell a few dozen steps away; its form inflated the mont it crossed the Transmigration Ladder’s steps, like a balloon being inflated to its limit, before it burst open with a “bang”.
[Pet: Pudong Rooster (Current Death Count: 18).]
The scene was too eerie, and Li Xiaobai was glad that he hadn’t recklessly entered. He flipped his wrist and took out the Jade Gourd, patting Ji Wuqing’s corpse with it.
“Swipe!”
A green light swept over, collecting his remains inside it.
“This place isn’t bad, only the power inside is too strong; Ji Wuqing must have been burst from it.”
Flipping his wrist again, he took out a cluster of Hellfire and threw it back in again. The flas burned for a mont but were suddenly extinguished, Li Xiaobai inwardly sighed in regret, the disparity was too great, Hellfire couldn’t survive in it. If only the Hellfire could devour this unknown power, its growth rate would reach a terrifying extent.
“I’ll revisit once my defensive power has advanced; the end of this ladder is extraordinary, not sothing I can covet at the mont.”
Li Xiaobai murmured to himself, no longer lingering, and lightly leaped down the steps. A flash of golden light appeared in the void, and upon a mont of darkness returning to brightness, he found himself in an entirely unfamiliar territory.
Below his feet was a hill, lush and pleasing to the eye.
“Senior, you’re finally here!”
“Is the Transmigration Ladder easy to traverse, what’s up there?”
Hu izi quickly approached, scrutinizing Li Xiaobai with a cautious gaze, as if confirming whether he had been converted by the Power of Faith.
“Nothing at all, cleaner than a face.”
Li Xiaobai proceeded with the crowd. They were at Thunder Peak, and right at the summit’s center was Master Wuhu’s place of sermon. At that mont, the mountain peak was overcrowded, swarming with cultivators, all seated on the ground, quietly waiting for Master Wuhu’s arrival.
