I Don't Want to Be Turned Into the Female Protagonist by the System Chapter 586 : Riding the Wind
Inside the Xiaoxiao Qi Jin Research Institute, in the lobby on the second floor.
It was 7 PM, four hours after the interview had concluded.
As a side note, reporter Wang ng and Mayor Guan Yi had left long ago after the interview. Though they had departed, the experts still remained within the institute.
The specialists, having spent the entire afternoon discussing the ancient flu virus, were now fervently expounding their viewpoints on a particular thesis.
Standing on the second floor, Su Qi listened to the experts tossing around abstruse terms, occasionally interspersed with English phrases. She found it all rather impressive and intimidating.
What Su Qi found even more remarkable was that many experts over fifty years old, like Director Hao, were still actively participating in the discussion, each offering their own perspectives.
Though they had been debating for over five hours, not one of them showed any sign of fatigue. Their eyes still burned with the fire of academic exchange.
For the first ti in her life, Su Qi experienced what could be called the allure of learning. However, although Su Qi sensed that this group of experts could continue their exploration for hours on end, she glanced at her little wife standing on the platform, who had been working tirelessly through many sleepless nights recently.
At this mont, her usually bright eyes were glazed with fatigue. Unlike her initial excitent, she now appeared wilted, like an eggplant withered by frost.
Su Qi could understand Xiao Xiaoxiao's current state. Although the little girl's Physique and Strength had grown sowhat, standing for hours on end while constantly presenting would be taxing for anyone. Coupled with her recent all-nighters, it would be strange if she weren't exhausted.
Seeing her little wife on the verge of falling asleep but unable to do so, Su Qi felt a pang of sympathy. After brief consideration, she descended the stairs, took a deep breath, and addressed the still-discussing crowd.
"Esteed experts, Director Hao, it's getting quite late. Perhaps we should adjourn for today?"
Su Qi's descent from the upper floor, combined with her distinctively youthful female voice, quickly drew everyone's attention.
Director Hao glanced at Director Su, then at the nearly-dozing Dr. Xiao. Though sowhat reluctant, he conceded after a mont's thought. After all, while Director Su was remarkably young, she was still the owner of this Xiaoxiao Qi Jin Research Institute.
However, before leaving, Director Hao had one crucial question for Director Su. After a brief pause, he inquired, "Director Su, may I ask when you plan to begin testing the antibody vaccine?"
Su Qi, caught off guard by Director Hao's question, montarily hesitated, as these matters were typically handled by her little wife.
At this juncture, hearing that the eting was concluding, Xiao Xiaoxiao quickly grabbed Su Qi's arm and interjected, "Uncle Hao, we should be able to begin testing tomorrow. During this afternoon's discussion with everyone, I discovered two areas where we can make improvents!"
Hearing the little girl's words, Director Hao was briefly stunned, then reflexively asked, "Could you estimate the success rate of the antibody vaccine?"
Xiao Xiaoxiao tilted her head, pondered deeply for a mont, then responded earnestly in her childlike voice, "Previously, the success rate was around 92%. Now it's about 97%, accounting for so special cases, of course!"
Director Hao: ...!
All experts: !!!
Su Qi observed the crowd, who had been preparing to leave the institute but now stood frozen in place. She then looked at her little wife, still clinging to her arm and tilting her head adorably.
Su Qi felt that in the near future, she would need to teach her little wife about the concept of modesty.
Upon hearing Dr. Xiao's words, the experts who had been ready to depart halted their steps. They turned back, focusing their attention on the young doctor. After all, learning that the truth would be revealed tomorrow, or even tonight if they worked quickly, only to then be told to reconvene another day...
This situation was akin to the internet : "I've already taken off my pants, and now you're showing this?"
And so, in the ti that followed, the young Dr. Xiao finally paid the price for her earlier lack of modesty.
Under the supervision and assistance of the experts and Director Hao, the first batch of improved antibody vaccines was finally completed at the Xiaoxiao Qi Jin Research Institute at 1 AM.
This antibody vaccine, having benefited from the collective input of the experts, had significantly enhanced safety assurances.
At 3 AM, Director Hao located three patients infected with the ancient flu virus and administered the antibody vaccine to them.
After waiting for an hour and observing no adverse reactions in the patients, Director Hao instructed nurses to draw blood samples from the patients.
To his delight, he discovered that antibodies against the ancient flu virus, previously absent, had now appeared in the patients' blood.
This result indicated that a solution had finally been found for the ancient flu virus that had been troubling people recently.
Although it was now 3 AM, typically the optimal ti for deep sleep, the experts, upon learning of the results, felt nothing but excitent.
After all, this ant that their recent round-the-clock research efforts could finally co to an end. More importantly, the satisfaction of solving this problem was truly fulfilling.
Mayor Guan Yi, having returned to the civic center that afternoon, had heard from Director Hao about the antibody vaccine trials.
Learning that results would be available late that night, Mayor Guan Yi decided not to sleep. After all, he wouldn't have been able to rest easy knowing the ancient flu virus remained untreated.
Finally, at 3 AM, he received the call from Director Hao.
Upon hearing the news of the antibody vaccine's success, Mayor Guan Yi felt as if a great weight had been lifted from his chest.
In that mont, Mayor Guan Yi felt that tonight's wait had been worthwhile. He was even reminded of a song lyric: "I've finally waited for you, and I haven't given up."
After ending the call, Mayor Guan Yi instinctively closed his eyes on the sofa, yearning for a good night's sleep. After all, he had been suffering from insomnia lately and was truly exhausted.
However, just as he was about to drift off, Mayor Guan Yi suddenly rembered sothing and made a phone call.
This call set off a chain reaction of calls, one after another.
Monts later, reporter Wang ng climbed out of bed with sleepy eyes, her face alight with excitent.
While being woken up in the middle of the night was truly infuriating, for a reporter, what could be more thrilling than breaking an explosive news story?
She truly hadn't expected that the Xiaoxiao Qi Jin Research Institute she had interviewed this afternoon would actually succeed in their trials.
Wang ng could easily imagine the waves this news would create once reported.
With this thought, Wang ng grew increasingly excited. After checking her makeup and clothes, she quickly ran out of her room.
She started her QQ car, flooring the gas pedal as she sped towards the Xiaoxiao Qi Jin Research Institute she had visited just this morning.
In the predawn darkness, her QQ Flying Car rode like the wind, leaving all else behind in its wake.
