"This... isn’t right, is it?" Chu Zhen hesitated, letting him kill creatures that didn’t look human, like the Demon Clan was permissible, but killing people was sothing he, a law-abiding youth of his ti, truly dared not do.
"Indeed, it’s a bit much for you," Gu Shanhai nodded, expressing agreent.
Chu Zhen also breathed a sigh of relief.
"Here’s the thing, overseas there are mbers of the Dragon Clan, each one is an elite template of LV100, and even the Dragon King is slightly less powerful than the Demon King. You just have to kill about three, and you could level up to around LV70, but if you were to slay dragons alone, it would be easy to die," Gu Shanhai said straightforwardly.
"..." Chu Zhen’s face scread damn it, this was basically asking him to commit a massacre or go slay dragons. It was simply not sothing he, a LV1 Hero and Demon King, could manage.
"Dwarves, elves, and the like, you definitely don’t want to kill them either. As for beasts, their levels are too low; even if you killed them all, you wouldn’t reach LV100. Otherwise, why don’t you go kill the Demon King Army? You don’t have to worry about leveling up, and they aren’t exactly human," Gu Shanhai’s tone was slightly mocking.
This tempted Chu Zhen, killing the Demon King Army sounded good.
"Decided?" Gu Shanhai could see the young man’s thoughts, clearly, as soone who had just reincarnated, he still lacked the courage to face his own kind.
As an ordinary person, Chu Zhen was neither a brutally violent criminal nor soone who could drastically change his disposition to kill without blinking the mont he crossed over.
Even killing a mber of the Demon Clan, he would probably hesitate.
"Decided, I’ll use the Demon King Army to level up!" Chu Zhen did not object.
"Okay, then go ahead, I won’t accompany you. At most, I’ll give you a hand if you’re about to die. If you think I will protect you, you are sorely mistaken; you still have to rely on yourself."
"If I co too late, and hence you end up missing an arm or a leg, you’ll just have to figure it out yourself."
Gu Shanhai spoke calmly, since it was the path Chu Zhen chose, Gu Shanhai definitely had no intentions of stopping him.
"Thank you then, uncle," Chu Zhen keenly sensed a shift in Gu Shanhai’s attitude towards him, obviously because his choice was different from what the other expected, such as previously even personally bringing him the Demon King.
However, he had his principles. Even if he sought revenge, he wouldn’t engage in mindless slaughter throughout the Holy Kingdom; he would only target the King of the Holy Kingdom and the psychic Holy Land Mage, not involving others.
Though Gu Shanhai was dissatisfied with his choice, he still took into account that they were both mbers of the Reincarnator Alliance, and would at least save Chu Zhen’s life, unfortunately, that was limited to preservation of life, and did not ensure his completeness or absence of other issues.
"Since there’s nothing else, you can go about your business, I have so things to handle," Gu Shanhai said in a cold tone, and then disappeared instantly.
Seeing this, Chu Zhen sighed as well, and left without saying anything.
Gu Shanhai hadn’t actually gone too far and was still trailing far behind Chu Zhen.
"This kid still hasn’t figured out his place, huh." Gu Shanhai scoffed disdainfully. His reasoning for letting Chu Zhen rge with the Demon King wasn’t just to disrupt the artificial intelligence, the Goddess, with the so-called Reincarnator Alliance, but also to specifically study the Demonic Qi.
The fact that it was harmless to him did not an it would be the sa on a hero, it was very likely to manifest more changes.
The most obvious of these changes was aggloration.
If Chu Zhen chose sothing other than the Demon King Army to level up, aggloration would not occur.
The species making up the Demon King Army were actually failed experintal races ford by contamination of Demonic Qi, as the essence of the Demon King was Demonic Qi, thus allowing control over the Demon King Army, enabling so many experintal species to be governed.
As Chu Zhen killed mbers of the Demon King Army, the Hero Panel would absorb their life essence or Demonic Qi to form power, which is the so-called experience. After accumulating enough power, a qualitative change, colloquially known as leveling up, would occur.
The problem was quite clear, Chu Zhen was now not only a hero but also the Demon King, and because his "Hero Panel" had disconnected, he had beco much less flexible.
Another point was that although Chu Zhen had rged with the Demon King, he hadn’t completely fused yet, and needed certain conditions to do so, which ant leveling up.
Under normal circumstances, choosing the Demon King Army to level up wouldn’t matter much.
But he specifically chose the Demon King Army, so every ti he killed, he absorbed corresponding Demonic Qi, which inclined him more towards becoming a Demon King—slowly shedding his human identity to beco sothing half-human, half-demon.
Otherwise, why would Gu Shanhai recomnd he choose the Holy Kingdom? Having a grudge was one thing, but it was also cleaner.
However, since it was his own choice, Gu Shanhai did not persuade him otherwise.
He felt he had his principles; it wasn’t right to ask Gu Shanhai to compromise his own principles.
As long as Chu Zhen bore the consequences himself, it was fine.
Regardless of how he chose to level up, Gu Shanhai stood to gain, but Chu Zhen chose the path that Gu Shanhai was most pleased with.
Indeed, he had actually hoped that Chu Zhen would choose this path; it was a perfect opportunity for Gu Shanhai to refine the Demonic Qi within himself. At first glance, it seed he was hostile towards Chu Zhen, but in reality, no matter which path Chu Zhen chose to level up, Gu Shanhai would maintain this attitude.
"But we can’t just drag it out; we need to get Chu Zhen to level up as soon as possible and then move on to cause chaos in the next Hero Continent." Gu Shanhai knew he couldn’t stay for long. He had smuggled himself in and still carried the Demonic Qi from the neighboring Hero Continent.
Over ti, it could potentially be detected.
Though he had contingencies in place in the neighboring Hero Continent to deceive surveillance, Chu Zhen’s Hero Panel going offline could still draw attention. Once they started scanning, things would get interesting.
This world had two points of Demonic Qi, so there was potential for deviation in the transfer routes. The AI Goddess might be unable to probe the Hero World due to the Demonic Qi, but just reviewing the data of the Demonic Qi transfer routes would reveal the flaw.
Such a large conduit shifting from the left pool to the right pool was an obvious problem for anyone with eyes and a brain.
Thus, what Gu Shanhai needed to do was relatively simple: carry a hundred or eighty tubes, constantly dart from pool to pool, and continually add more tubes.
Once the Hero Panel turned into a local network, the AI Goddess was out of options. How could she control anything once physically disconnected?
Gu Shanhai’s actions were akin to unplugging the internet cable and then smashing her computer with it.
"We’ve encountered the first monster, a Sli, no less. Speaking of which, can this thing even be considered a monster?" Gu Shanhai noticed that Chu Zhen appeared sowhat flustered when he first encountered the minor creature.
The sli’s gelatinous undulating body was nowhere near appealing from a modern perspective, not to ntion the intense stench it released, which made Chu Zhen, accustod to more comfortable tis, feel nauseous.
Fortunately, he wasn’t foolish. He didn’t tackle it barehanded and had sohow picked up a large stick and pocketed a few small stones.
He first tested with the stones. With the boost from the Demon King template, his attributes were very high. One stone hit and made a large hole in the sli’s body.
The sli rely splattered a large amount of corrosive fluid but did not hinder its movent. Upon spotting Chu Zhen as prey, it naturally crawled toward him.
Seeing this, Chu Zhen also panicked slightly, throwing nearly a dozen more stones. The countless splashes of corrosive fluid finally caused the sli to leak out its fluids and die.
Watching the first batch of experience points being earned, Gu Shanhai began to record the data.
"For a newbie, he’s doing quite well, at least daring to fight monsters in situations where he cannot revive." Gu Shanhai also gave so praise. Players and Chu Zhen differed; both seed to be playing a ga, but players could revive after death and were more reckless, whereas if Chu Zhen died, it was for real.
