Chapter 209: Chapter 196: The Origin of the Evil God and the First Spellcasters [Added for alliance leader dsf23dd]

“The Magic Core that was originally used to sustain the ‘Lost Fog’ can no longer be used, and the Alchemy Array set up in the main control room has also been severely damaged,” Vittorio shook his head, his tone revealing deep fatigue.

“Is there really no way to repair it?” Lynn asked, puzzled.

“Is it that easy?” Vittorio retorted irritably. These past few days, he had been mixing various alchemical materials, trying to repair the damaged Array, and his head was about to explode.

‘Lost Fog’ is not just an ordinary legendary magic. Its range is astonishing, spanning tens of thousands of square kiloters. Originally, it took nine months to set up this Array, consuming countless resources.

Finding alternative materials and setting up another legendary Array is not that easy at all.

However, these days, Vittorio had taken so redial asures. Now the white fog still lingered over the sea, only it had lost the ability to block spiritual detection and the peculiar ability to make people lose their sense of direction.

In conjunction with the roaming ‘Eye of Death’ and the previous reputation of the Mist Sea, they might be able to deceive their enemies for a while, buying ti until the repairs were completed.

Harrov did not hold much hope for this. The Church had gone to great efforts to have soone sneak in with a statue of an Evil God, clearly indicating that the Church was ready to take action against them.

“She was quite willing to do it—it was at least the soul of a Cardinal, perhaps even a Saint,” Aurora sighed.

Those who could undertake this mission were undoubtedly the most devout Believers, for otherwise, learning magic would an cutting off one’s faith since the source of a Wizard’s power lies in understanding, summarizing the rules of affairs, and utilizing them.

The more one understood, the more inevitable the doubts about the ‘Bible’s’ account of ‘Creation,’ especially after realizing that the goddess they worshiped was actually an ‘evil’ Wizard. Very few could remain steadfast in their faith.

“In short, we must consider the worst possibility and face an impending war!” Harrov said with utmost seriousness.

The eting about the war dragged on for a long ti. Since the specific ti and location were unclear, the eting’s content stayed focused on pre-war preparations and how to continue hiding Wizard Land…

Spooked by the event involving the Evil God, so council mbers even suggested sending hundreds of alchemical ships to patrol the Mist Sea and sink any vessel daring to enter, but this idea was swiftly dismissed as impractical.

Firstly, the entire Mist Sea was vast, and a few hundred vessels were simply not enough, not to ntion the need to guard against attacks from the ‘Eye of Death’.

Secondly, how could they prevent soone from escaping by boat, or avoid leaving traces of activity that might prematurely reveal that the defenses of the Mist Sea were already compromised.

“Councilman Lynn, how long would it take to manufacture an airship?” Harrov turned to Lynn and inquired.

“If materials are sufficient, about a month, I’d guess. We would need ten skilled carpenters. If we have Mages as well, it could speed up the process significantly,” Lynn thought for a mont and replied.

Harrov nodded, finding it easier than he had expected.

Having ridden in an airship before, he had noticed its enormous potential in warfare.

The ability to fly was a significant advantage in itself, let alone the fact that it could soar thousands of ters into the sky. Its load capacity was not low, allowing it to bomb from high above. However, how to deal with the Church’s organized Griffin Knights remained the greatest challenge, so subsequent alchemical modifications were needed.

Considering this, Harrov did not rush to purchase too many, but prudently asked Lynn to first produce fifty airships to test the waters!

Lynn also offered a friendly price, one thousand magic gold coins per ship.

Once delivered, the principle behind it would soon be figured out, and even the relatively low cost estimate could be analyzed. Therefore, even with the knowledge premium and developnt costs, Lynn could not ask for an exaggerated price.

Harrov agreed very promptly, as fifty thousand magic gold coins were nothing for the council.

Rafael and other alchemists imdiately beca active, proposing various retrofit designs right away, with so even presenting relevant blueprints. Judging by the detail, Lynn didn’t believe these were created in just a couple of days; it was clear they had been planned for a long ti.

After the eting ended, Lynn did not rush to leave but instead turned to the few council heads.

“Lord Harrov, I have another question I would like to ask, what exactly is the Evil God?”

Lynn was very curious; within the Sekas Empire, there were many rumors about the Evil God, such as the church’s propaganda that wizards were believers of the Evil God and demons, swayed by their deceptions.

Previously, he had thought this was rely the church’s propaganda, a tactic to suppress wizards, but now it seed not to be the case.

Harrov did not explain directly but countered, “How much do you know about Spiritual Energy?”

Lynn shook his head, indicating his knowledge was very limited.

“It seems the legendary wizards of the ‘Secret Magic Society’ did not tell you about this.” As the eldest in the Wizard Land, Vittorio took over the conversation and began to explain.

“Actually, in the beginning, all wizards were spiritualists, influencing the material world with their extraordinary spiritual power; it wouldn’t be an overstatent to say that it was the origin of magic.”

Before the magic system was completed, only these natural spellcasters could beco wizards.

The situation back then was much more chaotic than now, and the wizards’ research could only be described as without any prohibitions. However, the embryonic forms of existing magical schools and thods of ascension were also developed by these primordial mages as they explored and understood the world.

Later, an unknown spiritual wizard discovered a secret, which was the ability to amplify one’s spiritual power by devouring spiritual bodies.

This thod of spiritual power growth, like cheating, even beca the mainstream among wizards at one ti.

“I assu it must have so drawbacks, right?” Lynn pondered.

“Correct,” Vittorio nodded. The mories and power of dozens or hundreds of souls might be sustainable, but if the number expanded to thousands or tens of thousands, even great wizards could not bear it, and many lost their sanity or underwent drastic personality changes.

This state is also known as soul corruption… for wizards, it is extrely deadly, since the premise of casting spells is to have a clear mind.

Of course, this thod was not completely abandoned; countless power-thirsty wizards dedicated themselves to researching spiritual magic, hoping to find a way to purify soul corruption, but unfortunately, it was futile.

However, so wizards developed a more mild thod, and Ai La was one of them; according to her, devout faith is the key to connecting minds…
