378: 378.

Situation 378: 378.

Situation Even though Lu Li had already issued an attack warning, nearly half of the population in New York City had not yet evacuated.

Among them were social dia influencers, dia personnel, and people like Fang Qian with ulterior motives.

But even more were the blindly confident ordinary citizens.

In their view, the military was prepared and killing a yellow-skinned mutant was a piece of cake!

The fact that puppets had been suppressed by unmanned tanks upon first encounter solidified this belief, and many who had planned to leave stayed put.

But to their surprise, the evil mutant revived the Statue of Liberty and attacked Manhattan!

Citywide air raid alarms echoed as those too late to evacuate surged towards underground parking lots and subway stations.

“The evil mutant desecrated the Statue of Liberty!

He will surely go to hell!”

“What the hell is the military doing!

Kill that bastard!”

The hearts of the citizens filled only with curses and hatred, and it was at this mont that the Statue of Liberty charged into the city!

The 15-story-tall tal giant rumbled forward, scraping buildings along the street into a cascade of debris.

These were large chunks of concrete and shattered glass; opportunistic looters caught in the act were buried screaming in the rubble.

The Statue of Liberty didn’t care, just kept charging ahead, trying to attract as much attention as possible.

Its condition was poor, with wounds all over, even shell holes on its forehead and face.

Its imnse size beca a disadvantage in the face of a barrage of fire.

Fortunately, the tank guns were temporarily blocked by buildings, unable to fire.

But this was only temporary, as tank squads floored their engines in hot pursuit.

New York City’s defensive forces weren’t just limited to these, though.

Under Admiral Fenton’s orders, another 50 tanks were approaching from the front, accompanied by the roar of 24 Apache ard helicopters entering the scene.

Without the Flying Swords fighting for air superiority, a full-scale assault was imminent.

The 24 Apaches were divided into 8 squads, firmly locking onto the Statue of Liberty.

In the next second, Hellfire Missiles whistled in, and the autocannons thundered to life!

Sheltered behind a skyscraper, the Statue of Liberty barely dodged so of the damage.

At the sa ti, it shattered a handful of the building, hurling the debris skyward; the helicopters clanged as sparks flew.

One was hit in the tail and plumted down in a spiral, while the rest scrambled to climb higher.

Just as it gained the upper hand, lightning-fast unmanned tanks caught up, aiming a barrage of fire at the giant’s knees and shins!

Simultaneously, a dozen F35 fighter jets ford up and streaked across the sky, dropping a plethora of missiles and precision-guided bombs.

This was the saturation strike of modern warfare, sothing that not even those with Extraordinary Powers could easily withstand.

The Statue of Liberty simply didn’t have the ability to dodge missiles and in desperation could only manage to lift a Starbucks as a shield before it was engulfed by the violent explosion.

Dust blotted out the sun, but many industry insiders knew the Statue of Liberty was done for.

Unlike in science fiction movies, such large creatures were actually most vulnerable to modern weaponry.

Three kiloters away on the rooftop of the Manhattan Holiday Inn, Fang Qian operated a drone, capturing everything and believing the sa.

As expected, when the dust settled, the Statue of Liberty was missing an arm, and there was a gaping hole in its waist.

The second round of aerial strikes was about to begin, and the tank squad had caught up.

The Statue of Liberty, with no chance of escape, did not choose to fight to the death but instead turned and ran north!

Seeing this, Admiral Fenton imdiately shouted,

“It’s heading to Wall Street!

Stop it at all costs!”

He was right—Wall Street and the Stock Exchange were less than a kiloter away.

The Statue of Liberty, running at a speed of a hundred kiloters per hour, could get there in half a minute.

But the land and air forces of the Star Alliance Country wouldn’t let it have its way and imdiately unleashed a barrage of firepower.

Bombs, missiles, machine guns—bood against the Statue of Liberty, blasting its fleshy face to smithereens on the spot.

Unmanned tanks specifically targeted its calves and feet, aiming to cripple the target’s mobility.

The Statue of Liberty used all its strength to dodge around high rises, at the sa ti swinging the torch and book to block, desperately charging toward Wall Street.

It had received orders to attract attention and was resolutely executing them, to buy enough ti for its master!

At this mont, Lu Li’s “Spiritual Grain” was pulsing rhythmically, just like when the Azure Dragon had broken through.

Under normal circumstances, this would have caused an uproar throughout the city, but everyone’s attention was on the Statue of Liberty, and since the “Spiritual Grain” was semi-transparent, it managed to slip by unnoticed for the ti being.

But it couldn’t go undetected for long…

When only a hundred ters away from the stock exchange, the Statue of Liberty’s right calf snapped, and it smashed down onto the ground.

It propped itself up on one hand and one leg, still trying to crawl forward, but a dozen tanks had already rushed over to hold it down.

Other tanks threw steel cables to bind it, clearly intending to capture it alive.

Seeing this, Admiral Fenton let out a long sigh of relief.

As long as Wall Street remained unscathed, everything else was negotiable.

In the command room, the gathered military officers and academic experts were embracing each other excitedly!

The losses from the battle were not great, yet they had managed to capture this tal giant alive.

If they could unlock its secrets, the Star Alliance Country would beco the greatest, most dazzling nation in the universe!

They themselves would go down in history!

They were beside themselves with excitent, but other spectators from Blue Star were filled with regret.

“Just one step away, give it more strength, Statue of Liberty!”

“At least take down the stock exchange, rush, rush, rush!”

At that mont, the collective prayers of people all around the world, especially from a certain large Eastern country, flowed forth like a vast tide of Wish Power totaling over two billion!

As the internet and smart devices beca more advanced, what the Star Alliance Country was truly like beca increasingly well-known.

Many people, even if not aligned with Lu Li, still wanted to see the Star Alliance Country fail.

Unfortunately, Wish Power wasn’t omnipotent and couldn’t resurrect the Statue of Liberty on the spot with full health.

The stock exchange, less than a hundred ters away, was an opportunity missed after all.

Countless people sighed in disappointnt, feeling that they wouldn’t witness any sensation today.

anwhile, the Star Alliance Country and its allies turned into a sea of joy, gloating on the internet.

Citizens who had taken shelter underground in New York City ran out, eager to take photos with the Statue of Liberty but were blocked by a group of soldiers.

Ordinary people would definitely think that the Star Alliance Country had won, but the situation was clearly not that simple.

Inside the command room, Professor Rossi muttered, “Sothing’s not right…

Where’s the mutant and his Flying Sword?”

“Maybe he saw the lasers and ran off,” guessed Professor Reed, eager to be involved in the research on the Statue of Liberty.

That was what most people thought—that the mutant, having witnessed the strength of the Star Alliance Country, wouldn’t dare show up again.

But Rossi didn’t think so.

He picked up a piece of paper and pen, went over everything that had happened today, and suddenly shouted,

“No!

The mutant is diverting our attention!

He has so plan…

Right!

What about the strange phenonon captured by the drone earlier?”

As soon as he finished speaking, the officer in charge of the drone squad changed color and exclaid,

“An unknown situation has been detected near Freedom Island!”

On the big screen, Lu Li’s “Spiritual Grain” had already turned pitch black, like a Black Hole itself!
