"Sothing else?" Raven was curious, "Is it even more allowance?"
Pfft!
The Bishop laughed, "You wish, kiddo!"
"Cardinal Eve asked to hand you this letter as well." He gave him a letter with the official seal of a Cardinal of the Church of Solis.
’Official seal?’ He pondered, ’Then, it must be sothing important.’
Taking the letter with a polite smile from him, he simply stood there, silent.
"Hmm?" The Bishop wondered what this expression even ant, when suddenly, "Oh!"
He opened the lock on his personal drawer and took out a clinking pouch.
"There you go!" He smiled, "An extra Aristocrat coin to congratulate the completion of your first mission."
Raven’s eyes shone in excitent as he gave him a slight bow, receiving the money.
"Thank you so much, your grace," He snuck it into his pockets.
"So," The Bishop asked, as Raven made himself more comfortable on his seat, "How was your first ever mission?"
"I am not sure how much I am supposed to reveal, but," He paused, thinking over it, "It was crazy."
"We ssed up so much, but my team was competent enough to handle it all with grace." He vaguely went over his experience.
"Sounds like you had a chance to grow as a person, too, Raven," He said, his eyes piercing.
Raven chuckled, "You are right, your grace. I did."
"Good," He nodded in acknowledgent, "Seems like Cardinal Eve’s decision was well-worth it."
"Mhmm!" Raven agreed, too.
After that, they continued the conversation for a few minutes more before Raven finally left and reached his rented ho.
Since inns were expensive and limited in space, he had decided to rent a house not very far away from the church.
Living in a pri location like this was expensive, but not for him.
Putting down his weapons and the letter in his drawer, he first started preparing his dinner.
Which was sauteed vegetables, mushrooms, so French fries, and a seared steak.
A simple yet hearty al.
He feared the letter might contain sothing unsavory, which would ruin his appetite.
So he decided to eat first.
Mm!
’I can’t wait.’
...
[Dear youngest, I am fine here, and hope you are doing just as fine, if not more.]
Pfft!
Even her writing was so stiff.
[First of all, if you are reading this, it ans you safely and successfully completed your first mission, for which I congratulate you.]
Heh!
He dropped down on his comfy bed and continued the letter.
[Now, onto the reason why I am writing this letter in the first place.]
Raven focused.
[As you might know, our family is applying to the Royal family to beco nobility, and for that, I would need so paperwork from the Holy State, vouching for my position in the church for official bureaucratic reasons.]
’Damn!’
Even a Cardinal needs paperwork to vouch for her position.
Bureaucracy was the sa no matter where.
[And that would be issued by an official. The Grand Protonotary of the Holy See.]
’Who is naming these titles, man?’
It felt so over-the-top that Raven couldn’t help but have such a reaction.
The Grand Protonotary of the Holy See.
Sighing, he continued the letter.
[Now, since I cannot fetch it myself, as leaving this position would be hard for , I need you to fetch it as soon as possible.]
Raven nodded, expecting this at so point in ti while reading the letter.
[Now, he would be hosting a banquet for his daughter’s birthday in a few days, and I have an invitation. So, I need you to go in my stead, fetch the letter, and hand it to Bishop.]
Well...
Raven scrunched his nose.
Banquet might be a little draining for him.
But the job was way more important than so mild discomfort.
So, he had to do this.
And it wasn’t anything hard either.
[The venue and date are ntioned in the invitation below this letter.]
Raven removed it, and sure enough, there it was.
A golden, shimring invitation card.
But he decided to finish the letter first, and then get to that part later.
[Once again, congratulations on your recent achievents.]
[May Solis’ blessings be upon you.]
Hmm!
Raven flipped the letter, making sure there wasn’t anything more.
There was not.
’Let’s see...’ He opened the invitation card, which was unnecessarily luxurious.
But understandably so.
It was delivered to a Cardinal.
The first few lines were nothing but a humble invitation to attend his daughter’s birthday banquet.
And then, he ca to the main part.
[Date: October 9th, 2351.
Venue: 9703 Musgrave Street, Vineland, Dawn.]
Dawn.
"Dawn?" Raven yelled out, "As in the Dawn City?"
No way he had to go there, right?
After all, it was the ho to not only the Apostle of the Sun God but also the Pope of the Church of Solis.
The strongest being in the entire world.
And supposedly his strongest foe.
A bane to his existence.
His mark would betray him imdiately if he even ca close to either of them.
An apostle and a Pope were the closest things to their respective Gods.
Which ant they had so part of the divinity of their Gods.
Just like him.
But it made sense.
Where else would the highest-level minister of a state reside?
In the capital, of course.
’Fuck, do I reject this?’
But he had no excuse to.
The Bishop had already seen him perfectly fine.
And he couldn’t cause trouble either.
He racked his brain quickly, but to no avail.
Every path seed blocked off.
Does he have to go into a certain death?
Unless...
"I need so answers and ’that’."
He imdiately rushed towards the Bishop’s office, even though it was already late in the evening.
He just had to.
He couldn’t wait till the morning.
Running inside the church he resided in, he reached his door, and,
Knock! Knock!
"Who is it?" The tone was a lot more neutral at this ti.
"It’s *Huff!* It’s , Raven." He was panting crazily.
After all, he had run all the way here.
He didn’t know why, but he just did.
"Raven?" He sounded concerned.
Click!
The door opened imdiately, as the Bishop on the door asked, "Is there sothing you need, Raven?"
"An answer to my query." He said.
"Do you reckon the Pope and the Apostle would be present at the birthday banquet?"
