Gu Changge glanced at her and said, “In that case, I will trust you this once. But are you truly certain about what I want to regain? Will you help ?”
Ling Yuxian felt that, in saying this, there was a hint of playfulness at the corner of his mouth. She frowned slightly, thinking that Gu Changge was underestimating both her and the current power of Yu Xian Palace. The matter of the Gate of Eternal Life could be discussed later; the most pressing concern was to stabilize Gu Changge first.
“Don’t worry. I said I would help you, and I won’t break my promise,” she replied directly.
Gu Changge smiled and fell silent.
Ling Yuxian sensed that she might have misinterpreted his intentions, but that was fine. Since she genuinely wanted to assist him, why not lend a hand? This was inconsequential for Gu Changge. As for Ling Yuxian thinking that this would stabilize him, it could only be said that she was overestimating the situation. If Gu Changge intended to deal with Yu Xian Palace, he would have already taken action, so why wait until now? The current situation simply wasn’t worth his effort.
“Rember what we discussed tonight. From now on, don’t get close to Jing Xiao. At the sa ti, you can’t harm Elder Xianyun and the others.”
As Gu Changge turned to leave, Ling Yuxian stopped him once more and reminded him.
“Don’t worry, I’m not as bad as you think. I’m not interested in Junior Sister Jing Xiao,” Gu Changge replied without looking back, chuckling lightly. “It’s just that if I simply alienate her, it will inevitably cause pain…”
Ling Yuxian was furious upon hearing this. If he knew it would be hurtful, why would he seek closeness with others? But at that mont, she couldn’t voice her thoughts.
“Long-term pain is worse than short-term pain. You just need to explain the truth to her,” she said coldly.
Though Gu Changge had a handso and elegant appearance, she was disgusted by his tendency to toy with other people’s feelings. However, he maintained an indifferent and casual deanor, as if he were already accustod to it.
Gu Changge laughed and ignored her, his figure gradually rging into the night until he disappeared.
Ling Yuxian gritted her silver teeth, watching Gu Changge leave with cold disdain before transforming into a beam of divine light and fleeing in another direction.
The most pressing task now was to rescue her sister. Although Jing Xiao might hate her afterward, she didn’t care anymore. As long as Jing Xiao stayed away from Gu Changge, she would not encounter any danger.
In the following days, Ling Yuxian closely monitored Gu Changge’s actions and noticed that he seed to remain on the island, adhering to their agreent and not making any appearances. Even when Jing Xiao visited, she didn’t see him, forcing her to wait outside the island for a long ti before leaving silently.
This situation provided Ling Yuxian with so relief, allowing her to focus more on preparing to rescue her sister.
A few days later, the palace deep within Yu Xian Palace was breached, and soon after, passages through ti and space were forcefully torn open. At the sa ti, ancient domain-breaking warships, brimming with radiant light and chaotic energy, erged from the sky, carrying nurous indistinct figures. These figures swiftly vanished as the warships soared away.
In the Shengyang Ancient Domain, Xiyan Prefecture, capital of Jingguo:
“Sister Ling’er, Master has been staring at the sky like that for nearly three hours, hasn’t he?” a beautiful servant girl, her hair tied in a bun, quietly asked her companion in an elegant courtyard in the northwest corner.
The other servant girl glanced at the young man nearby, worry creasing her features. He stood, dressed in an expensive satin robe, gazing blankly at the sky. His pale complexion indicated he hadn’t been exposed to sunlight for quite so ti. Yet, his refined features carried a scholarly air.
“Yes,” the servant girl nad Ling’er replied softly. “Young master’s recent behavior has been odd. Should we inform the lord?”
The noonday sun was glaring and intense, a brightness even cultivators would struggle to endure. However, the young man seed oblivious to the harsh light, having stared at the sky for three straight hours without flinching. No matter how the two maidservants called out to him, he remained unresponsive.
“Can you really not hear that voice?” the young man asked suddenly, breaking his silence. His dazed expression softened as he turned to the two maids, his stiff neck twisting as though their quiet conversation had finally reached him.
“My lord, what voice are you talking about?” Seeing the young master finally co back to his senses, the two maids displayed expressions of relief.
Noticing that they seed completely unaware of the voice he had heard, the young man sighed softly, shaking his head as he replied, “There is no sound.” Initially, he thought he might be hallucinating. But for several consecutive days, he had heard soone calling him at noon, every day at that sa ti.
At first, the voice appeared to have no source, but he gradually realized that it seed to be emanating from the blazing sun hanging high above him.
“In the sun, why is soone calling my na? Why?” The young man pushed aside the doubts and worried expressions of the two servant girls, shaking his head inwardly as he pondered this question. His na was Jing Xiang, the heir of Jing Guo, with the current king of Jing Guo being his uncle. The entire Jing Guo was nad after his family, highlighting his esteed status within the kingdom.
However, Jing Guo was a small country and could hardly be compared to the broader Xiyan Prefecture. In that larger context, Jing Xiang’s status was relatively insignificant.
Of course, he had thought this way before, but it wasn’t until the last few months that he gradually realized sothing was amiss. His family did not seem as simple as he had imagined.
Since childhood, he had been unable to cultivate due to a broken spiritual sea. After it was repaired, it beca a well that was sealed off, leaving him insulated from cultivation. However, the voice that had recently erged revealed to him that it wasn’t that he couldn’t cultivate; rather, he had been cursed. The curse placed upon the Jing family by their ancestors had co to fruition in this younger generation. Yet, the curse on him was not insurmountable.
The ancestors of the Jing family surely possessed a ans to help him lift the curse. At first, Jing Xiang dismissed such notions, believing he was simply being overly persistent and had succumbed to fantasies and nightmares. But those words didn’t fade with his denial and ignorance; they only grew louder. Eventually, at noon each day, Jing Xiang could hear those words clearly. Just monts ago, he had been speaking to that voice, but the two maids beside him couldn’t hear it and rely assud he was daydreaming.
“If that voice isn’t lying to , then why don’t the ancestors want to help break this curse?” he pondered. “If I could cultivate, then Yuxian wouldn’t have said those things to back then, right? I should also have the right to stand tall in front of her.”
As these thoughts swirled in his mind, a hint of bitterness and self-mockery crept into the corners of his mouth. Although many years had passed since that incident, it often replayed in his mind like a haunting dream that he could not erase.
