Wei Tianyang and Mondrian, controlled by Zoe, returned to the car. When they drove out of the woods, dawn was just breaking.
Wei still drove, while Mondrian sat in the passenger seat giving directions. Hasegawa Chiharu was now under house arrest inside an office building in a technology park in the city, guarded by hundreds of fully ard Special Forces and spies sent by Richu Country, making it a highly secure place.
But for Wei Tianyang, these were not problems.
On the way back, he was secretly astonished that Zoe’s ntal control extended over an entire city, far exceeding the descriptions in the files. She was truly deserving of being classified as a Trinity-level Superpower user.
The trigger for her mutation, she said, was a cup of water given to her by an agent from Hasegawa Pharmaceutical. Now, thinking about it, the water must have contained experintal drugs from the Witch project.
If that was truly the case, Hasegawa Pharmaceutical was even more reprehensible than Tiantai Pharmaceutical, daring to betray even the Superpower Special Departnt that they were partnered with?
By the ti the car entered the downtown area, it was 5:30 in the morning. Wei Tianyang hadn’t slept all night, but he didn’t feel tired.
Virtually all mbers of the Superpower Special Departnt had physical and ntal abilities that surpassed those of normal humans. Although they weren’t at the abnormal level of being able to survive without food or sleep, they could nonetheless work continuously for three days without sleeping and still maintain a decent level of energy.
On the streets, many civilians had gathered, more normal and diverse compared to what Wei had seen the previous night. There were no masked criminals or holess people now, just people in various casual clothes.
At first glance, they were just office workers—n, won, and even so children who might be of high school age. Each of them held empty bags, wandering the streets, waiting for the governnt’s airdrop.
This was cruel... The governnt’s actions were also very confusing. On one hand, they barricaded the city, using people as guinea pigs for experints, while on the other hand, they cut off electricity and water and yet dropped airdrops daily. These actions were full of contradictions.
The car stopped opposite a silver-white building. Through the ground-floor lobby’s glass curtain wall, Wei Tianyang could see several n in suits leisurely sitting on sofas.
This was the place.
While everyone was waiting to pick up the airdrops, they sat inside the building, and moreover, the entrance was deserted, with people avoiding it.
"The governnt sends a military helicopter every week to deliver supplies to the rooftop. These people are living well," Zoe said.
"Are those Special Forces and spies all inside?" asked Wei Tianyang.
"Hmm, a small portion of the Special Forces, the rest are at the test base. The main defense force inside includes spies from Richu Country and security employees from Fogen Investnt," Zoe explained.
"When can I et your real body?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"When you rescue Hasegawa Chiharu and bring her to see ," Zoe replied.
Wei Tianyang nodded, left his rifle in the car, and opened the car door empty-handed. Zoe also prepared to get out.
Seeing Zoe following, Wei Tianyang quickly said, "I can go alone. This guy already has a broken arm; don’t let him risk his life too."
"I’ll stay in the background and won’t interfere with you," Zoe assured.
Hearing Zoe say this, he no longer objected. Thus, the two of them got out of the car and walked towards the building’s entrance, keeping a certain distance, one in front and the other behind.
Wei Tianyang had just crossed the railing in front of the main entrance when the black-clad special agents inside the glass door noticed him. Zoe, staying distantly behind the door, observed his movents.
By the ti he reached the doorway, several black-clad agents had already proactively pushed open the glass door and ca toward him.
All of these agents bore East State faces, gray military masks, AR glasses, and with their right hands resting on the submachine guns at their waists, they reached out their left hands, making a stopping gesture.
"Stop! Stop!" the n shouted at him.
Wei Tianyang didn’t pay them any heed, and without any movent in his body, the daggers and folding knives hidden beneath the agents’ suits ca to life.
The blades sprang out automatically, and the daggers sped out of their sheaths, drilling rcilessly into their flesh like snakes awakening from hibernation.
Just as those black-clad agents took a few steps forward, they suddenly trembled, their legs tightened together, knelt to the ground, and then, dragged by so inexplicable force, they were pulled several ters across the floor. Their suits bulged high and burst open, and several bloody knives pierced through their bodies, flew tens of ters away, and clattered onto the concrete floor, leaving behind several corpses.
By this ti, Wei Tianyang had reached the entrance, and the security caras on the top of the glass door were all aid at him. The next second, the blast-resistant rolling door crashed down, and alarms resounded throughout the building.
Inside, three squads, each consisting of eight mbers from the special forces, took the elevator down and arrived at the lobby, ard with the South Model 2077 assault rifles. On the floor, sections of gray tiling stood erect automatically; they were bulletproof panels prepared specifically for combating corporate-level ard forces, serving as cover for their own agents.
"The target is at the door and hasn’t moved. He might be heading behind the stairs to find another entrance," a cold female voice conveyed through the special forces’ earpieces.
"Roger that!"
No sooner had the words been spoken than a huge noise erupted from the entrance, and the massive blast-resistant gate floated into the lobby like a piece of paper.
Part of the blast-resistant rolling door was torn apart, transford into a large sharp blade, and driven powerfully into the lobby, slicing through six frontline special forces mbers. The lobby was suddenly filled with the stench of blood.
Wei Tianyang followed closely, and before the soldiers could recover from the shock, all their rifles floated towards the ceiling.
Several people began to unclip their gun straps, but suddenly felt a chill in their lower bodies. Looking down, they only saw their legs lying on the floor, and the tactical daggers also danced into flight on their own, slipping through gaps in their helts and bulletproof vests, slicing back and forth.
Thus, the special forces in the lobby were annihilated. Wei Tianyang, still without any physical exertion, leisurely walked towards the fire stairs.
Mondrian followed suit, picking up a dagger from the floor as he and Wei Tianyang walked into the fire stairs.
The ard forces inside the entire building weren’t considered too nurous, or at least, they weren’t enough to make Wei Tianyang exert himself. Their bodies were all equipped with iron knives, which served as his bullets.
"Do you know which floor she’s being held on?" Wei Tianyang asked, turning his head back downstairs.
"I’m not sure, but I think it should be on the top floor; it’s easier to evacuate from there," Zoe replied from below.
"I understand," Wei Tianyang nodded.
As a group of special agents rushed into the stairwell, they hadn’t even started fighting when they were killed by their own knives. Their bodies and heads tumbled down the steps, and blood flowed into a waterfall.
Zoe, following behind, witnessed all this with an expression tinged with apprehension.
