The rcenary leader erged from the tent, now that he had the intelligence he needed and had to send soone to retrieve it quickly.

As for the military observer from the United Council, he was useless now. As long as the intelligence was indeed in hand, they could slaughter him.

The leader was about to contact headquarters when the pre-set alarm system on his cell phone suddenly popped up a notification.

He hurriedly put on his headset, and the communication channel buzzed as both the sniper and patrol received the alert from the laser detectors.

"Soone has triggered the trap."

"South, 8 kiloters away."

The rcenaries tacitly ford a defense formation, no need for any instructions, everything was so natural and fast.

"Sol, Piris, take two people each and move to the west and north to prevent the intruders from feinting," the rcenary leader said.

Two teams left the camp, activating their optical camouflage.

"Who could it be? The army of Chicken Snake Country? Or soone from Red Pharmaceutical?" soone asked over the channel.

"Both possibilities exist. There’s nothing to fear from the Chicken Snake Country’s military; their gear is still stuck in the 20th century. But Red Pharmaceutical’s rcenaries are tricky, and maybe there are drones above us," the rcenary leader said.

"No signal from enemy drones, nor interference with our drone signals. Our drones are now airborne," another rcenary said over the channel.

"Alright gentlen, maintain Silence now, and let the drone see who’s coming," the rcenary leader said.

A small white drone flew straight up to 150 ters, having a clear view of the surrounding woodland. The winter forest was not so lush with branches and leaves, so the view was excellent.

The live video feed from the drone was projected onto everyone’s AR glasses. The rcenary leader watched the small square in the corner of his eye for a long ti but didn’t spot any living thing.

"No people, the thermal imaging hasn’t captured any heat sources," said a rcenary over the channel.

"I see no one either. I’m only 3 kiloters away from the triggered laser emitter, but all is quiet front and back," the sniper said.

The rcenary leader thought for a while and said, "Gentlen, there are two possibilities now. Either the laser transmitter is malfunctioning, or a Superpower Special Departnt force has co."

"I’ll bet 500 bucks it’s the Superpower Special Departnt," the sniper said.

"Don’t be too pessimistic... It’s not like soone sent those freaks to deal with us..." So rcenaries were starting to panic.

"Could it be the United Council sent soone to rescue the military observer?" soone asked.

"They won’t find us. Not that quickly," the sniper said.

"You never know what the Superpower Special Departnt might do," the rcenary leader said.

"What do we do now?" the sniper asked.

"Alright, alright, stop whining like a bunch of nancies. We’re just guessing and scaring ourselves silly," the rcenary leader cursed.

No sooner had he spoken than a bullet hit his shoulder, and he fell backward to the ground, then felt his shoulder go numb.

"Engage! Engage!" he shouted.

The machine gunner didn’t know where the bullet ca from, but based on the direction the leader fell, he guessed a direction and started firing.

The sound of gunfire carried far through the empty woods.

The sniper scread over the channel, and then his life indicator went out.

"Spread out the formation! Sol! Are you there? Call for the drone to bomb the southern woods!" the leader was dragged behind cover by the strap of his bullet sling.

Just after he finished speaking, the person dragging him suddenly fell forward. A huge hole was blasted through the bulletproof vest on his back, and his chest cavity burst open, ribs and flesh all caught in the bulletproof vest.

"A high-caliber sniper rifle could have done this... But there was no sound..." the rcenary leader checked the body and muttered to himself.

It was certainly the Superpower Special Departnt...

"Damn it... Get to the vehicles! Get out of here fast!" the leader said.

At this command, the rcenaries all headed for the off-road vehicles on the west side of the camp to evacuate.

But the silent slaughter continued, no one knowing what they were fighting, the rcenary leader could only watch as the life signals of his n were extinguished one by one.

"Kacha!!!!!"

That was the last one.

The rcenary leader struggled to crawl toward the tent, knowing that his only chance to save his life was to take Li Songyan as a hostage.

He crawled for a while, then discarded his rifle, drew a handgun from its holster, and hurriedly got up, rushing into the tent in two strides for every three steps.

Li Songyan had managed to dress himself and was sitting wobbily on a stool, his hands still bound behind his back with straps, his head hanging down asleep.

The rcenary leader moved behind him, pressed the gun to his temple and yelled out of the tent, "Whoever you are! The person you want is in my hands! Protect my life, and I won’t kill him!"

Silence surrounded them. He hardly dared to breathe. After a long while, he finally heard footsteps coming from outside the tent.

The curtain of the tent was pushed open slightly, and a white-haired woman dressed in dryland camouflage walked in.

Her eyes were the color of amber. Upon entering, she leaned her bolt-action sniper rifle aside and then took off her gloves.

The rcenary leader was taken aback. This woman’s behavior was like that of a housewife who had just returned ho, placing her umbrella by the door.

The woman’s composure made him even more anxious, and the gun in his hand trembled involuntarily.

"You... who are you? Why are you targeting us?" the rcenary leader said.

The woman did not speak. She slowly walked up to Li Songyan, squatted down and took a good look at his injuries.

This action convinced the rcenary leader that this woman must be from the United Council...

"... You’re from the Superpower Special Departnt of the United Council... right?" the rcenary leader asked again.

A radiant smile appeared on the woman’s face.

"You’re right," Yaha laughed.

Watching the fear and panic on the rcenary leader’s face, as well as the way he called himself "Superpower Special Departnt."

Yaha felt a sense of satisfaction.

Be afraid! Be terrified! I am Superpower Special Departnt... I am!

Shouldn’t you fear ? You should... this is the feeling...

"He’s not dead! At least not now. Protect , and I won’t kill him," the rcenary leader said.

"But his injuries are so severe, he’s almost dead," Yaha said.

"You must have a way to heal him..." the rcenary leader replied, panicking.

"Even so, I’m so close to you. What makes you think you can kill soone in front of ?" Yaha asked again.

"No matter how close you get, you’re not faster than a bullet... unless you can stop ti!" the rcenary leader said.

"Pull the trigger, try it," Yaha laughed.

The rcenary leader clenched his teeth, thoughts swirling in his head.

"Co on, pull the trigger," Yaha urged.

The rcenary leader’s breathing beca rapid, his eyes bulging as he let out a shout, "Fuck you!" and then turned the gun toward Yaha’s forehead and pulled the trigger.

At that mont, his movent froze.

Can’t move?

The rcenary leader felt as if his body had turned into a plaster statue, unable to even move his eyeballs.

Yaha grabbed his wrist with her left hand and placed her right hand on Li Songyan’s shoulder.

In just an instant, Li Songyan suddenly woke up, shuddering so violently he almost fell off the stool. He then realized his leg was healed, the scars on his body seed to have disappeared, and the intense pain in his stomach was gone.

The rcenary leader’s lips blistered, and his complexion suddenly looked awful; it felt as if his throat had been scraped raw. The next second, he regained sensation in his body but felt as if he had been tortured, collapsing sideways to the ground.

Li Songyan looked at Yaha with a complex expression.

"Who are you? Why did they capture you?" Yaha asked.

At that mont, five or six half-ford figures walked into the tent from outside, their shapes slowly shifting from semi-transparent back to normal.

Kacha was injecting a neutralizer into his own neck, and two other guys were doing the sa, except they were injecting two needles at once, apparently from excessive use of their superpowers.

"? I’m a war observer from the United Council. I know you... you are the corporate cast-offs of Red Pharmaceutical... and friends of Wei Tianyang, right?" Li Songyan laughed.
