Jing Shu unbuttoned her thick cotton-padded jacket, feeling a bit hot. She had sworn that she wouldn’t take it off even in her sleep, yet she wanted to break that oath as soon as she stepped outside. The fat chicken beside her started dozing off again, so Jing Shu could only take out its nest, spread it on the ground, and under Monkey’s astonished gaze, the fat chicken comfortably settled into it.

Yang Yang found himself at a loss for words, unsure of how to introduce Jing Shu, because he didn’t have complete information about her. To say Jing Shu was impressive was an understatent. As far as he knew, Jing Shu had dealt with Zhetian’s third-in-command, Shangguan Jun, and Zero. She had killed those who ended up dead, while those who survived were still working for the governnt, selling information. But where her impressiveness lay, he couldn’t quite articulate. It seed Jing Shu was a jack of all trades, master of none; strong but lacking finesse. To say she wasn’t impressive would be wrong, though, since the incident at West Mountain where she dismantled a bomb bare-handed was truly amazing. Jing Shu was a difficult person to categorize.

"Just call her Mirror; you all know her deeds. She also possesses a rare special dicine that, whether for gunshot or stab wounds, when applied, prevents inflammation and speeds up recovery. This ti her role is as a Doctor/Assistant. Her strength is formidable. She will be the one to don the War Armor, and she can also handle the firepower. Based on the fact that at critical monts she has life-saving dicine, her overall strength rating is B."

Those headed to the United States each had a codena, without revealing their real nas; Yang Yang’s codena was Goat.

Jing Shu figured it out: Hao Yunlai could sense danger at crucial monts, she herself had life-saving dicine for such tis, one was a Scout, and then there was Yang Yang, seemingly weak and unable to carry much. Was this Wu City squad really just a soy sauce supply team?

But then again, what exactly was Yang Yang’s role? Jing Shu had been in contact with him for quite so ti but always felt that Yang Yang had an unreal, mysterious aura. Moreover, Yang Yang completely shattered all the beautiful fantasies Jing Shu had about military n—strong, capable fighters, possessing a sunny righteousness—none of which Yang Yang possessed.

Monkey was sowhat disappointed. "All in logistics, contributing less, getting less. This trip seems like it’s going to be a loss."

Yang Yang smiled mysteriously without saying a word.

Monkey perked up again. "But you haven’t explained this thing yet. Are there really mutated animals after the apocalypse? I heard that they want to bring one to the Imperial Capital."

After thinking for a mont, Yang Yang said, "This is the chicken her grandma brought for her to lay eggs on the road, for Mirror to replenish her body."

Monkey stared for a while, scrutinizing the fat chicken’s posture, then burst into laughter. "HAHAHA, I’m dying here! Off to the United States to do big things, and she’s carrying a chicken with her. But this chicken really is huge, eh? If we ever get into a tight spot, letting Hao Yunlai roast a chicken wouldn’t be too bad. That said, it’s just a chicken, isn’t this a bit much? Making a custom steel helt for it? You made think it was a battle pet or sothing."

The fat chicken was unhappy after hearing this. After Jing Shu gently kicked it a few tis, it said, "My chicken is a fighting chicken, different from the rest." Fat Chicken had to be vindicated, she thought. Otherwise, if it achieved a rciless victory in the future, it would make everyone so surprised they’d want to eat their own jaws in amazent.

Monkey not only sprayed his drink back into the cup but all over the table. Unable to hold back his laughter, tears stread down his face as he said, "Then you better watch out for my Ah Huang. It’s well-known for loving chicken. It’s behaving well with around, but without , who knows, it might just steal and eat your chicken. Better keep an eye on your chicken, or if it gets eaten, don’t say I didn’t warn you."

A dangerous glint appeared in Yang Yang’s eyes. With a smile, he took out a long-missed syringe and carefully drew up the drink spilled on the table. He was just about to speak about wanting to try injecting the drink into soone’s body when Jing Shu parroted his warning back at him, "Then you better watch out for my fat chicken. It’s well-known for loving various brain matter and eyeballs. It’s behaving well with around, but without , if sothing provokes it, it might retaliate by pecking a dog’s eyes blind and eating its brains. Better keep an eye on your dog, or if it gets eaten, don’t say I didn’t warn you."

"Well, let’s just wait and see then." Monkey’s smile gradually froze. He had the foreign beauty clear the table, then closed his eyes and said nothing, while Yang Yang pouted, "Stealing my thunder."

「...」

The plane took off quickly. The runway was very short; if it hadn’t managed to take off, it would have crashed into another building. When the plane started racing down the runway, the turbulence had Jing Shu doubting her life choices. Thankfully, it took off without further incident.

The flight from Wu City to the Imperial Capital took five hours. A RUMBLING sound still filled their ears; thankfully, it wasn’t real thunder—otherwise, the plane wouldn’t have dared to take off. They also experienced a few more frightening shudders along the way, but at last, they safely reached the Imperial Capital.

Jing Shu felt as if her delicate heart had taken a strong blow. Even the fat chicken, initially comfortable, was no longer calm, clinging tightly to Jing Shu’s feet. Even Monkey’s Ah Huang was restlessly barking in anxiety.

Hao Yunlai, however, slept like a log. Yang Yang reassured them, "Hao Yunlai not reacting ans the flight isn’t dangerous."

"There’s so logic to that..." But using Hao Yunlai as a human baroter for danger, was that really a good idea? What if he failed?

They had a al at one point—a luxurious apocalypse stir-fried rice with green vegetables, potatoes, a sprinkle of green onions, soy sauce, and diced ham. Everyone enjoyed it imnsely. Even Jing Shu nodded her approval. The taste was indeed quite good. However, there was only one bowl per person, and Jing Shu’s stomach was still growling with hunger after she finished hers.

Unable to bear it after half an hour, Jing Shu took out a basin and bagged instant noodles. She asked for so boiling water and prepared two packs of noodles with five eggs and two sausages. The others looked on enviously, salivating. Under imnse pressure, Jing Shu finished off the al in three minutes, even slurping up all the soup. The rich fragrance of her instant noodles wafted throughout the plane.

It had been a pleasant journey until Jing Shu interrupted it. Even Hao Yunlai woke up, sniffed the air, and said, "Mirror, is that Unified Soup Master Japanese Tonkotsu Ran you’re eating?"

Jing Shu gave a thumbs-up. "You could tell just by the sll."

"Didn’t we just eat?" Monkey grumbled, constantly swallowing his saliva. "And you can still eat so much, all at once. I wonder what you’ll eat when we get to the United States."

The aroma surrounded him, and Hao Yunlai tried to hypnotize himself: I can’t sll it, I can’t sll it, I’m sleeping...

Yang Yang pulled out so atballs his grandfather had fried for him and snacked on them occasionally. Jing Shu offered him so, but Yang Yang shook his head. "You eat too much. Better save so for when we get to the United States, just in case."

Thus, the group had a very uncomfortable arrival in the Imperial Capital. Three administrative staff mbers hurriedly left, while Jing Shu and her three companions finally reunited with their counterparts from the Imperial Capital.

"Rest for half an hour. After the plane is refueled and checked, we’ll take off again. Once everyone is here, we’ll discuss the detailed plan, division of labor, and the rules for this operation," Yang Yang was saying as another group of people boarded the plane.
