Zheng Yichen had been duped by a man with bushy eyebrows and large eyes; people can be wicked indeed. There was nothing much to say; when deception is based on unequal information, there really was no point in complaining.
Rather, he thought about how to reclaim what was lost. Knowing the truth, Raymond’s behavior along the way seed odd, although it was more or less consistent with his usual deanor...
There were also so other issues with the Dusk Cathedral. Although this place was extraordinary, it did not restrict the entry of others. This world had churches, but the local churches seed to pay little attention to this one?
"The Dusk Cathedral is in a state of acceptance. Those who know of this place have one of two attitudes: they either like coming here or they don’t, and most don’t like to co here."
"Fine, be that way. Are there really so few nuns around here?" Zheng Yichen looked at the sparse number of nuns in the cathedral, incomparable to the numbers in Hazy City.
"There is no need for many people here." After that, Zheng Yichen got busy. Despite the nun saying the Dusk Cathedral was of high status, he still had to move things around and replace the damaged floorboards in the process of fixing the floor.
After about an hour of hard work, the floor was finally repaired. "Can I take out the things I’ve stored here now?"
"You can take them at any ti." The nun led Zheng Yichen to a storage locker, and as he looked at the items he had stored at the cathedral, he felt overwheld. He hadn’t thought the Dusk Cathedral’s storage service was anything special, but now he realized how rare it was.
Just a few hundred bucks a month to enjoy cross-world storage, simply too honest!
Seems like it was utterly useless for the vast majority of people.
The items he had stored in the Dusk Cathedral were just everyday necessities, including the head of a one-horned mule, snacks, and clothes; he had no weapons stored here. But after several months without modern snacks, having them again stirred sothing in Zheng Yichen’s heart... He was finally freed from the worries of this world where even going to the toilet posed a challenge.
"I’ll be back within two months." After having so snacks, Zheng Yichen said to the nun beside him, "And can this box be converted into other weapons?"
"It’s possible, but you cannot receive free services now," said the nun, looking at the black tal box by Zheng Yichen’s side.
"So, it ans spending money?"
"According to the prices in Hazy City, it would cost two million."
"... even with all your special circumstances, you still need money?" Zheng Yichen’s lips couldn’t help but twitch.
The nun remained indifferent. "So places have regular employees who need to be paid salaries. There are also other regular expenses. Later, if your performance is good, you will also be able to take money from here."
Zheng Yichen left the Dusk Cathedral, acknowledging in his heart that it was a down-to-earth place. As for not being able to escape, after he moved away from the Dusk Cathedral, he realized the nun wasn’t just fooling him—he couldn’t see the cathedral anymore, but he could see a pillar of light in the color of dusk, connecting heaven and earth, clear in his sight.
"Huff ~ alright." Taking out a small mirror, he looked at his face, rotating his eyeballs left and right. In the unintentional reflection, he could see that sa dusky orange hue.
Regarding the changes in his body, he swung his fist, and the resulting sound of cutting through the air was stronger. With a light leap, he could jump over a distance of more than five ters. His recovery powers were noticeably improved; lightly cutting the back of his hand, the wound quickly stopped bleeding and began to heal slowly.
His thermal vision had also significantly strengthened, and the strain on his eyes had decreased.
When the Sword of Hell was in his hand, there was no change in the life force it drew, but with the sa consumption, the flas that the weapon ignited were more turbulent.
Zheng Yichen estimated that, with his current standards, the energy he used to eliminate that pursuit squad could be reduced to less than one-fifth!
When swinging the one-horned mule’s horn, a clear spiral airflow surrounded it. When thrown as a projectile, that spiral airflow would burst forth, turning into a tornado around the horn, correcting its flight path and allowing it to maintain a straight direction instead of spinning erratically.
The crimson tongue he used as a belt, when swung, could create impacts that he himself could see, and its influence on the psyche was even more prominent.
After the ’resources’ of this world were equalized, it directly led to a reviving of spiritual energy. Zheng Yichen really didn’t see anything good in this approach.
After all, equalization ant splitting things evenly. If this world grew weaker, it would naturally balance out with extra ’resources’ from the stronger worlds, reducing the total resources there, right? It kind of felt like harming oneself to benefit others. But these people did it for a reason, and that ant they saw so benefit in it.
As for what they were after, that was sothing he needed to investigate. Right now, Zheng Yichen wasn’t in the mood for investigating; he just wanted to know if Raymond was dead or not. If not, how to kill that guy!
Having his feelings deceived by a man for several months, that was sothing he couldn’t endure.
Then there were those pursuers. Although their mission had failed, they seed a bit unwilling to accept it. Zheng Yichen had noticed them lingering nearby after leaving the Dusk Cathedral.
Since he had encountered them, he didn’t hold back. Zheng Yichen approached those people at an extrely fast speed. Thermal vision made it impossible for them to hide, and by the ti the pursuers realized Zheng Yichen was approaching, it was already too late.
Now, Zheng Yichen was like a little Superman in every way. When those pursuers saw Zheng Yichen rushing towards them, they organized an orderly counterattack, shooting precise crossbow arrows at Zheng Yichen.
What used to be a threat to him, the crossbow arrows, were now of little lethality. The speed of the arrows seed slightly slower than before to his eyes, as if the reaction speed hadn’t changed much despite the Environntal Adjustnt.
But his own reaction speed wasn’t lacking; with explosive physical fitness, if he could see the arrows, he could easily deflect them. They were not in the sa league as before.
"What’s the deal with this guy??" Shocked by Zheng Yichen’s extraordinary speed and the way he blocked the arrows, the pursuers were stunned. Not long ago, so of them had noticed so issues, feeling that their strength had increased and they could lift heavier objects.
At first, they thought it was an individual change. Later, they realized everyone had changed; it was not exclusive. Those who had been concerned imdiately abandoned any extra notions. Zheng Yichen must have changed as well, but why was his change so exaggerated?
Faster than a horse!
"Uh, don’t co over here!!" Watching Zheng Yichen catch up, a pursuer couldn’t hold back his inner panic and scread in terror.
To that, Zheng Yichen simply pulled out the one-horned mule he carried and flung it with full force. As the horn flew, the swirling tornado around it intensified, piercing through the pursuer’s body like a hot knife through butter, the trend unabated as it flew forward, the wild air currents affecting several other pursuers.
The remaining pursuers scattered in terror, realizing that Zheng Yichen was no longer a normal human being.
Better run fast and far. Seeing that Zheng Yichen didn’t continue the pursuit, those who had fled separately couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Having acquired a horse, Zheng Yichen set off to find Katrina. When he returned to the city he had left from, it was already over half a month later. He had avoided the dangerous areas, mainly because there had already been changes there, and who knew what kind of enhancents those Black Darkness creatures might have received.
He wasn’t too afraid, it was just that he thought it might waste ti, and it was better to take the normal route.
On the normal route, he also encountered many Black Darkness creatures, especially after a week of travel; there were wandering zombies by the road, not walking corpses, but sturdier zombies. So crows had also beco very large and would attack people.
However, those Extraordinary creatures that were not corpses essentially beca extra rations for Zheng Yichen. The world had increased in intensity, allowing those creatures to provide him with more feedback.
Over that half a month, the world’s changes, well, there weren’t many changes for ordinary people. Among the groups Zheng Yichen encountered on the road, most were still ordinary people. Trained ordinary people also didn’t seem to have changed much from before.
Occasionally, so powerful individuals appeared, but even the powerful seed limited in front of Zheng Yichen.
He wondered what changes would occur for beings like witches.
The entrance to the city was under stricter guard now, but Zheng Yichen was known here for completing many tasks, and the guards recognized him. Seeing him return, the guards didn’t ask many questions and let him through. Once inside the city, Zheng Yichen hurried to his residence.
Right away, he spotted the hidden caras at the entrance. He waved at the cara, and soon the door was opened, and a figure threw itself into Zheng Yichen’s arms: "You’re finally back, let’s leave this place quickly!"
Katrina’s voice trembled, "The Church has been patrolling these past few days."
"Slow down, let’s go inside first," Zheng Yichen touched the young girl’s head, comforting the excited girl. The changes in the world’s environnt were sure to alert the local authorities.
Forest Witch Eileena, watching Zheng Yichen return, also took a long sigh of relief: "You’re finally back; if you didn’t co back soon, we would have to find a place to hide."
"Pack up, we’re leaving now," Zheng Yichen said without much fuss. They had already found the Dusk Cathedral; whether this house remained wasn’t important anymore.
"Alright, I’ll pack my things right now," Katrina responded and imdiately returned to her room to pack the things she needed to take.
About half a month ago, she discovered her magic had been enhanced, and so did Forest Witch Eileena. A week ago, there were frequent appearances of clergy on the streets, knights as well as clerics, and she had sensed a unique power from one of them.
The number of such clerics had increased two days ago...
