After confirming that the Devouring Sky Pillar had been destroyed, the reconnaissance team temporarily stayed on this collapsing land, which, where the Sky Pillar had once taken root, now felt like a drained ocean.
"Perhaps this place will really beco an ocean in the future," said a local world investigator with a sowhat sorrowful expression. She hadn’t been particularly concerned about the environnt before, but so experiences provoke deeper feelings.
"That’s a matter for the future, the crisis isn’t over yet, there’s still a big battle ahead!" another investigator said sternly, scanning the surroundings with a device, trying to find useful traces in the environnt.
"I’m thinking about how to beco a Proxy Agent," said another young investigator elsewhere, speaking with an air of longing. The once insurmountable Devouring Sky Pillar had been dealt with, well, it couldn’t quite be said to have been ’simply’ dealt with.
Looking at the traces of destruction all around, one could imagine just how fierce the battle had been. Not to ntion, the blow from the Sky Pillar lightsaber had been captured by many Firmant Wheels, a truly heart-stopping mont.
"Are you insane? Proxy Agents are those who got royally screwed by those bastards’ might; just beco a Dusk rcenary. Dusk rcenaries can experience the daily life of a Proxy Agent too!" the young investigator’s team leader gave him a thwack on the head.
The intelligence they had received indicated that although Proxy Agents appeared last, it didn’t an that Dusk rcenaries were any less capable. As long as one had talent and the guts to fight, one could tread a path similar to that of Proxy Agents.
Proxy Agents seed so capable because of Dusk’s ’selection process,’ as they were chosen by Dusk for their uniqueness. Without being special, one simply wouldn’t have a future.
"Don’t space out, hurry up and investigate the scene, be careful. This land possesses a rather intense negative force residue, which can affect one’s ntal state!" the investigation team’s leader said loudly, reminding his team mbers.
The other investigators tapped on the helts they were carrying, signaling they would be attentive. On their helts’ attached visors, so of the negative forces lingering in the environnt around them were marked, and the equipnt showed these forces had a strong eroding effect on the psyche.
Other investigation teams also found a Wise Dragon Base that had been buried due to the land’s collapse. After confirming the base’s code, they imdiately began the subsequent steps, starting with remote infiltration.
The Wise Dragon Base was located near the Sky Pillar, and the possibility of enemy control could not be excluded.
"The energy system of this base is completely damaged; there’s no need for infiltration. But be careful of the traps that might be hidden inside... all right," an investigator swiftly opened the damaged entrance of the Wise Dragon Base.
The other investigators quickly entered the base, which was of high specification. Even though it had sustained serious damage due to the earthquake, many things inside were still preserved.
There weren’t any traps, and they soon found what they were looking for, including the main control core of the Wise Dragon Base.
But this core processor wasn’t the type like Wise Dragon No. 9’s; it was instead a tal box the size of a briefcase.
An investigator connected it to the device on the scanner, frowning at the information displayed: "This processor has been hacked by the enemy, I need better equipnt to deal with it..."
So things can’t just be handled by any computer, let alone the outdated scouting flyers they were currently using with backward systems. The processor of the Wise Dragon Base, on the other hand, directly controlled a base.
With their current equipnt, they were simply not capable of correcting the Wise Dragon programs; they needed better gear for the job.
"Then we’ll just wait. There are many other things to collect in this base."
After gathering the data and ensuring that nothing was left behind at the scene, the various investigation teams began to head back. They didn’t go their separate ways, instead, they gathered at Firmant No. 7, which was the most stable of all the Firmant Wheels.
The discoveries here naturally had to be solved there.
anwhile, the other Firmant Wheels also began making subsequent arrangents. Since the environntal imbalance was gone, they were starting their counteroffensives!
The Devourers may be gone, but there are still the Boundary Breakers!
In Hell, Zheng Yichen watched impassively as the World of Death began to stabilize. This fragile World of Death was recovering quickly, the land solidifying again, and small points of light appeared within this world of death.
After converging, the points of light ford wandering souls.
Death was constant, and although this world faced severe problems, the existence of the Firmant Wheels preserved most of the human race.
So confused souls passed by Zheng Yichen as if he didn’t exist. Next to him, Lilith’s projection quietly watched the still Zheng Yichen.
A sly black cat head cautiously peeked out, took a quick glance at Zheng Yichen, and imdiately jumped out from the cloak, landing beside Lilith’s projected image. Zheng Yichen’s current state gave the cat spirit a terrifying impression, compelling it not to stay in its own ’ho’.
At Lilith’s feet, the cat’s paws mischievously hooked around her lower leg, scraping at the air, then imdiately tumbled over and started scratching with both paws. Lilith cast a glance at the restless cat spirit and directly dispelled the projection of her legs.
After a while, the icy expression on Zheng Yichen’s face softened, revealing an unpleasant look, "Sigh—if I really ever have a ntal breakdown, it’ll definitely be my own doing."
Sitting on the motorbike, Zheng Yichen massaged his forehead, his head ached unbearably sweet, a result of actively resisting the demonic thoughts that caused the demonization, unlike before, when all it took was to recover normally, without such an unpleasant and uncomfortable sensation.
Once the headache subsided sowhat, Zheng Yichen exhaled deeply, "Let’s go."
Having left Hell, Zheng Yichen looked around the unfamiliar environnt, grabbed a handful of soil; the structure of the earth had returned to normal, not like before when he held mud in his hands that felt like sand.
Not far away, a river was still filled with a large number of dead fish; unsurprisingly, these fish would just slowly dessicate and eventually disappear.
Decomposition? Even if the world returned to normal, certain dead things wouldn’t reappear, including so microbes within these dead fish, as well as other creatures’ corpses.
For the living people in this world, if they ventured out, they would always encounter bodies that hadn’t rotted but were slowly decaying.
Zheng Yichen sighed with a heavy heart, fished out a few fish from the river, and started to roast them on a fire he made. In the end, as long as it was edible that was fine. While fighting the Devouring Faction, he had eaten quite a few ’stones’; he needed to eat sothing normal to regain his sense of taste.
anwhile, he took out his phone to check the offline map. The large black dot had disappeared, leaving only a large red dot. Unfortunately, he still couldn’t approach the Firmant Wheel next—issues with the Firmant Wheel weren’t caused by the Devourers, but by the Boundary Breakers. If the Boundary Breakers weren’t dealt with, the problem with the Firmant Wheel would remain severe.
While eating the roasted fish, Zheng Yichen thought of sothing and took out a box from the motorbike, retrieving an octahedral crystal from inside.
A projection appeared; Wise Dragon No. 9 looked at the fire Zheng Yichen had started and the fish roasting on it, saying, "Thank you."
In a destabilized environnt, it was impossible to make a fire. Now that Zheng Yichen could start a fire and roast fish, it showed that the environnt had recovered, and in such conditions, it didn’t notice any energy loss in its core.
One of the biggest problems troubling this world was obviously solved, and how it was done remained unknown to it. The box was specially designed to block its perception, a asure prepared for building trust.
"No need to thank , I’m just trying to survive."
Wise Dragon No. 9 said, "You look very tired; you can rest at a Wise Dragon Base we can differentiate. They will provide you the best recuperation services."
The environnt had rebalanced; it could now connect to the network, but after calculating so issues, it refrained from doing so.
All Wise Dragon series up to No. 10 possess high intelligence. Right now, the priority wasn’t to connect to the network, but to ensure Zheng Yichen’s physical condition was at its best. The crisis hadn’t been completely resolved, and as for the local human race’s actions, they would deal with them when encountered.
Connecting to the network now would likely expose additional problems. Although Zheng Yichen was not a native of this world, what he had done was the most trustworthy.
If they could completely end this world’s crisis, then it would be acceptable for so more natives to die in exchange for the preservation of the fundantal frawork. In principle, such a choice should not need to be made.
But in this world, one must choose.
"I have three weeks left, finding a place to rest would be good," Zheng Yichen rubbed his forehead, the countdown on the offline map hadn’t changed, aning that the important factor that would doom this world wasn’t the Devouring Faction, but the Boundary Breaking Faction.
Wise Dragon No. 9 ’looked’ at the map on Zheng Yichen’s phone and said, "We can go to Wise Dragon No. 3 Base."
"What’s the difference between the top ten Wise Dragon Bases?" Zheng Yichen quickly finished the remaining roasted fish and tossed the bones into the river. It wasn’t that he didn’t care about the environnt, but this could at least provide so sustenance for the microbes.
"There is no difference. The top ten Wise Dragon Bases are all of the sa standard. Only during the developnt of special projects will there be a skew in resources."
I see, Zheng Yichen started the motorbike. He had wanted to visit Wise Dragon No. 1 Base out of curiosity, but now that that was clarified, his curiosity had diminished significantly. The reason Wise Dragon No. 9 recomnded No. 3 Base wasn’t because it was special or had skewed resources.
It was simply closer.
