The Devouring Sky Pillar brought severe environntal impacts to the entire world; if Zheng Yichen wanted to engage in normal combat in such an environnt, he would first have to restore it to normalcy. With this in mind, his choice of target beca very clear.
Now, unable to locate the Proxy Agent, but having acquired information on them, dealing with such an agent... Yes, they held a significant advantage, especially in defense. Once the Devouring Sky Pillar took root and withstood the initial onslaught, the native forces could not touch them.
The environnt near the Devouring Sky Pillar differed from typical anomalies, but the native forces lacked resistance to the vacuum caused by the energy imbalance. The strength of those who ca here was directly reduced by thirty percent from the onset, speaking of which, those practicing Body Cultivation were particularly troubleso.
However, attacks from those individuals could not significantly impact the Devouring Sky Pillar. Although this world had wielded so formidable weapons against the Sky Pillar, causing so damage, missing the pri opportunity ant those attacks beca ineffective.
Even in the imbalanced environnt, whether those weapons could function was questionable.
"Monitor the surrounding environnt; the mont that Proxy Agent appears, send him away imdiately."
Edelson toggled the screen before him, which displayed three damaged Firmant Wheels. These three Firmant Wheels, briefly ’out of control’ due to the efforts of the world’s native powers to seize them from their faction, beca weapons as the native world’s strong wielded them in an offensive manner.
The attempt was to destroy the Devouring Sky Pillar completely, and if the Sky Pillar had been in its early stages, then this desperate tactic would have likely been successful. While the Devouring Sky Pillar was stable, the Firmant Wheels were more than mundane technological products in this world.
Wielding such devices as weapons could indeed threaten the Devouring Sky Pillar, but they acted too late. Approaching the Sky Pillar, the surface power of the Firmant Wheels collapsed due to the environntal imbalance, eight-tenths of the people inside perished, and the remaining two-tenths could only await death.
Deprived of sufficient energy, the Firmant Wheels were but oversized darts, incapable of damaging the Sky Pillar and even lacking the option to self-destruct. In the end, the Devouring Sky Pillar was unaffected, and the debris spectacle only grew.
Subsequently, the three damaged Firmant Wheels fell into the hands of the Devouring Faction. While no longer capable of flight, after adjusting their energy systems, so functions remained viable, such as the mounted weapons. However, the energy sources were incompatible—with the Sky Pillar’s energy, the weapons would rapidly deteriorate.
Of course, they did not expect the damaged Firmant Wheels to beco their core defensive weaponry; those were purely a windfall. If available, very useful, to be employed as disposable assets in critical monts, but inconsequential otherwise. Their main foundation was the Devouring Sky Pillar.
...
"Distributed energy detected," announced Lilith. Zheng Yichen imdiately slowed the vehicle. As he advanced, he kept his projection camouflage active and even employed concealnt—a new active trait acquired after eliminating an alien demon in Liu Hongzhao’s world.
However, the concealnt could only mask his presence, not to the extent of invisibility like the other side.
Riding the motorcycle as a high-speed moving object, concealnt of presence was not particularly effective. As soon as he encountered the distributed energy, his trail would essentially be exposed. Distributed energy is generally a detection thod.
"This is going to be difficult," muttered Zheng Yichen, his gaze fixed on the distant Sky Pillar. Even from afar, he could see that vertical beam linking heaven and earth, capped by dense, swirling, somber clouds. The Sky Pillar itself was still, but combined with the gyration of the clouds, it imparted the sensation that sothing was drilling into the earth.
Adjacent to the Sky Pillar were three damaged Firmant Wheels, information included in his briefing, which Firmant No. 7 had emphasized for Zheng Yichen to be wary of.
Although the Firmant Wheels were damaged, as pinnacle projects in this world, they would function so long as they were not completely destroyed.
Lilith had also analyzed the state of the Firmant Wheels based on intelligence; these devices could draw energy from the environnt and were capable of interstellar travel... The main difference from sci-fi spacecraft might be the lack of features like warp speed and spatial leaps.
Contemplating the weapons those three damaged Firmant Wheels bore, Zheng Yichen felt overwheld.
"Boss, we can make use of the enemy’s power," Lilith’s projection appeared, and a 3D map materialized before him with glowing lines on the ground resembling veins: "I’ve captured the Sky Pillar roots distributed beneath the earth’s surface through energy monitoring.
The energy intensity of these roots is generally consistent, and we do not require close proximity to harness the Sky Pillar’s energy," she said.
"Oh ho—this counts as good news," Zheng Yichen raised an eyebrow slightly: "Your energy absorption can co into play as well, right?"
Lilith nodded: "After using the Sky Pillar’s energy as enhancent material last ti, the vehicle’s energy absorption has been adaptable to similar types of energy."
"Then let’s get started."
Zheng Yichen stopped the motorbike and scanned the surroundings with thermal vision. There were no heat sources nearby, everything within the thermal vision was cold, and the farthest heat source was still at least twenty kiloters away.
Weapons in this world could reach that far, but the one Zheng Yichen was carrying couldn’t. Even though his weapon had been upgraded... it still fell short. Ordinary solid projectile weapons simply couldn’t reach that distance, after all, they were firearms, not cannons.
Stepping onto the ground, Zheng Yichen looked at the 3D map beside him. Although the map only covered a radius of forty ters, on par with the energy monitoring range, everything within it was very clear. He didn’t have such a map before because Lilith hadn’t received the corresponding enhancents.
It was after receiving the necessary enhancents that, due to the effects’ chain reaction, such functionality erged.
The enhancent effects brought by wind feather increased the vehicle’s energy interference with the wind, while the fur from the Supre Demon added an influence over Soil-earth type. Combining these characteristics with energy monitoring made it possible to create such a map. The surface was detected with airflow related to the wind, and the subsurface used Soil-earth powers for detection.
With a stomp, Zheng Yichen shattered the ground, revealing the ’veins’ underneath, the root system associated with the Sky Pillar. These would be yanked out as the Sky Pillar was removed, eventually pulling out the heart of this world.
Zheng Yichen pulled it out.
"The texture is even worse, and it’s much harder than the last ti I touched it," Zheng Yichen tried to pull on it. Failing to break it by hand, he exhaled and entered Burst Mode. The enhanced strength allowed him to snap off a finger-thick piece of the Sky Pillar roots, and after taking a section, he stuffed it into his mouth...
"The taste has gotten worse too; last ti it was like eating roots, this ti it’s like eating stones!" Zheng Yichen comnted on the ’taste’ of the item, but he still had to eat it nonetheless.
The vehicle’s energy harvesting couldn’t directly touch the Sky Pillar roots, or it would instead have its energy siphoned. To harvest energy through the roots, he could only use the pieces that had been severed and were no longer connected to the Sky Pillar.
Zheng Yichen snapped off several roots and hung them on the motorbike.
"Boss, the battery issue is becoming more serious," a few seconds later, before Zheng Yichen could digest the Sky Pillar root he had swallowed, Lilith raised the issue with the vehicle’s battery once again.
"Sigh, I know," Zheng Yichen sighed. Who could have imagined that the vehicle, initially just ant for transportation, would manage to keep up with the upgrades? It felt like a horse he had readied suddenly turned into a flaming Qilin – both had four hooves, but one was a horse and the other a divine beast.
"Use all the energy that can’t be stored to enhance the weapons, I want the most powerful output!"
"Understood." A new projection screen appeared beside Zheng Yichen, displaying the weapon being enhanced. The enhancent process even included the power of spatial distortion, though it was uncertain to what extent the Sky Pillar’s energy would enhance the weapon.
And he continued eating.
"What’s that Proxy Agent doing?" Twenty kiloters away, a man was observing Zheng Yichen’s location. Despite using various detection thods, they couldn’t clearly see what Zheng Yichen was doing. If you say Zheng Yichen’s concealnt abilities are strong, it seems he’s not ignoring their detection.
To say they’re weak, they could only pinpoint Zheng Yichen’s location, but details were a blur, providing no useful information. Trying to observe with the naked eye, they were blocked by a camouflaging projection.
Now that Zheng Yichen had stopped, they didn’t feel it was right to move. This ti their target wasn’t the native locals or the Dusk rcenaries, but the Proxy Agent sent to deal with problems. Those overconfident had already died.
"How about we fire a couple of shots in that direction?"
Another Devourer glanced back at the damaged Firmant Wheel that soared into the clouds, its cannons still warm. With a need, they could imdiately deliver a powerful barrage that would thoroughly saturate the area where the Proxy Agent was. Surely even a Proxy Agent couldn’t survive such an attack.
"Let’s not rush. We’ll wait for him to get closer before we decide. The cannon’s coverage isn’t very high right now," the speaking Devourer said, looking at a report in his hand. A Proxy Agent skilled in both magic and warfare with superior resistances and bloodsucking abilities – to deal with such a foe, either a drawn-out battle or a strong wave of attack to kill them outright was necessary, giving no chance for power to be unleashed.
The equipnt they carried was linked to an occupied Wise Dragon Base. Analyzing the current position of Zheng Yichen was awkward for them.
The Firmant Wheel’s cannons could hit there, but only a small part; the rest couldn’t reach because the Wheel couldn’t turn, resulting in insufficient firing range. If Zheng Yichen got any closer, the coverage rate of the cannon’s attacks would significantly increase. However, Zheng Yichen wasn’t giving them that opportunity.
