The net that fell from the sky tightened, and that huge bloody shadow was completely bound. Ahn Longling’s gaze fell on Katrina, the young woman who was sowhat nervously looking at the shrinking net, her fingers still entwined with strands of hair.
The source of these hair strands... Ahn Longling could probably guess where they ca from.
"Miss, would you like to contain it?" soone asked for Ahn Longling’s opinion.
"No need, we’ve already gotten what we wanted, this is soone else’s trophy," she replied.
The person wanted to say sothing else, but Ahn Longling glanced at him, and the speaker’s expression stiffened into silence. Ahn Longling stared at the ntal parasite monster, wrapped into a ball by the net, which was still attempting to send out waves that influence the human psyche. However, these forces could not get past the protection magic placed on the net.
However, as ti passed, sweat began to bead on Katrina’s forehead. The sound of a motorcycle ca from the distance, and Zheng Yichen, accompanied by Eileena, quickly arrived. There had been a slight delay on the road, mainly because the clones had beco chaotic after losing control.
Not only had their intelligence decreased, but so had started to rebel. The one closest to him was dealt with by Zheng Yichen, not killed but absorbed by Eileena using the Skeleton head. Another was taken care of by another force in Hazy City, also not killed, but they prepared a low-temperature container to store the creature.
Their thod was not exactly like the Ahn family’s, but the effect was quite similar.
After a slight delay, Zheng Yichen ca straight over, not uttering a word, and brought Eileena directly to where the Evil Spirit was. Without Zheng Yichen needing to say anything, Eileena pressed the Skeleton head against the bloody creature.
The entire bloody creature burst into flas, and a large amount of the blood-colored ’fire’ surged into the Skeleton head. Unlike other clones, this bloody monster persisted for nearly a minute before completely disappearing.
Eileena looked at the Skeleton head that had begun to emit the ’fire of soul’ again and gave Zheng Yichen a helpless expression. This ti she couldn’t completely contain the flas inside, but after Katrina wrapped the net around the Skeleton head, the surging flas receded.
Zheng Yichen noticed many people’s eyes on the Skeleton head in Eileena’s hands. Ahn Longling approached Zheng Yichen, "Is it stable?"
"It should be very stable? I’ll keep a good eye on it."
Ahn Longling nodded and changed the subject, "What about the follow-up? These creatures need to be completely cleaned up."
"That’s simple," Zheng Yichen looked towards Eileena, who picked up the Skull head wrapped in the net and began a new tracking, "There are three targets left... now two, if you don’t act quickly you might not even catch those two."
"Give the locations."
The remaining two ntal parasites were just clones, and without the influence of the main body, they fell into chaos and rebellion. Even when Ahn Longling arranged people as quickly as possible, they only caught one; the other made such a commotion that the official forces of Hazy City dealt with it.
The subsequent effects of the ntal parasites losing control were even greater; they didn’t know how to hide, and once out of control, they sought to parasitize and assimilate ordinary people en masse to enhance their power, unmistakably revealing their whereabouts.
By the ti the last problem was completely resolved, it was already late into the night. Zheng Yichen yawned, "We can be sure that those things have been cleaned up, let’s head back."
Eileena’s necromantic skill no longer detected any useful information, and the beings influenced by the ntal parasite monster were gathered together by the powers emanating from the Skeleton head in Eileena’s hands.
Aside from a small part of those creatures preserved for research, the rest were all annihilated.
"Be careful," Ahn Longling said, looking at the Skeleton head in Eileena’s hands.
Zheng Yichen waved at her and pedaled towards his ho, while Ahn Longling took care of the aftermath, handling so minor issues related to the Ahn family before leaving the rest for the officials of Hazy City to solve.
The real battle had lasted less than a night, with the lower city district and North Lake being the most affected areas. The situation at North Lake was comparatively easier to handle, while the lower city district... well, the officials were going to have headaches for a long ti to co.
After sorting things out, Ahn Longling arrived at Ahn Ke’s laboratory and saw her rubbing her eyes, appearing sowhat tired.
"...If you’re tired, use so eugeroic drugs."
"I don’t use that stuff." Ahn Ke shook her head. She was indeed very tired. As a researcher, she seldom stayed up late. She usually slept on ti and rarely stayed up more than two hours past her normal routine. However, so things were beyond her control and didn’t allow her to maintain those habits.
Today’s events didn’t permit her to sleep early. Nearly every half hour, new research materials were delivered, so of which were quite dangerous, others requiring her to develop drugs or concoct relevant compounds to counteract them.
Moreover, she had to find the weaknesses of those materials and other issues in the shortest ti possible through her research.
Even though these matters weren’t closely related to her, the scale of the incident’s impact was too large. Even if it wasn’t her area of expertise, she still needed to provide so additional support to the fighting mbers of the Ahn family within her field.
However, as things changed, she hadn’t yet developed better drugs for resisting those ntal mutations when Zheng Yichen managed to resolve so issues first. The amulet made by the White Witch on his side could effectively ward off the influence of the ntal parasite.
So, such matters should indeed be left to the professionals. Not only was their efficiency higher, but they were also particularly effective, making it pointless for soone like her to fuss over these issues, aside from wasting her own ti.
But she had already missed her sleep ti, and discussing this was now too late. During her research on those materials, Ahn Ke discovered so interesting aspects, which served as a decent consolation prize, as well as the evil ritual’s impact on lifeform, which she thought could be applied to so of her research.
The premise was to thoroughly understand such a phenonon and turn it into sothing controllable.
Influencing lifeforms in various ways reminded her of a ga so boys liked to play, a ga involving the breeding of ’babies’ by combining different ones to induce mutation, enabling babies without certain skills to acquire them.
This would lead to an explosive synergy with their inherent abilities.
The impact and change the evil ritual had on lifeforms, if properly harnessed, could achieve similar effects. Yet Ahn Ke didn’t quite understand how to address such matters. She could handle the altered lifeforms that resulted from mutations, not this abnormal, unscientific evil ritual.
The Ahn family had people who excelled in this area. She just had to wait for the outco.
"And since you’re back, it ans those issues have been resolved, right? If there’s nothing else, I am going to sleep."
"No, there are so matters at North Lake that need your help." Ahn Longling shook her head. North Lake was still sealed off, not just by the Ahn family but also by the power of Hazy City and other families.
The ashes of the massive Skeleton behemoth were spread all over North Lake. Many were waiting to go there to harvest those ashes, and studying that material was sothing Ahn Ke excelled at; she couldn’t be absent.
The work there wasn’t about tying up loose ends; it was about reaping the final benefits.
"...Annoying, I hate working at night." Ahn Ke glanced at a small vial beside her but didn’t reach for it.
