"Sit in front," Katrina said as she held Zheng Yichen in her arms on the motorcycle, "It wouldn’t be good if you fell off."
"How could I possibly fall off..." Saying this, Zheng Yichen sat in front of Katrina who was riding the bike, but in reality, it was the artificial intelligence, Lilith, that was doing the actual driving.
When they got ho, Eileena greeted the short-statured Zheng Yichen with a laugh, "The trouble you encountered this ti must have been serious, right?"
"More than just serious, I’ve witnessed World Destruction," Zheng Yichen said as he dragged a large box; sothing he used to pick up easily now required both hands to lift, and the feeling of weakness made him very uncomfortable, "Is there any at? The kind you eat."
Katrina hurriedly said, "There’s still a lot of food stored at ho, how much do you need?"
She and Eileena didn’t go out much, so they had a lot of food reserves at ho.
They only visited the laboratory next door each day to check on the progress. The workers there were quite professional, doing a lot while saying little, and the progress had always been swift. By the ti Zheng Yichen returned, the laboratory was almost finished; once the subsequent equipnt and electrical circuits were adjusted, it could be used.
"All of it!"
While Katrina was preparing the food, Eileena helped Zheng Yichen open the large box. It contained so things he had seen before, including that ’exuvia.’ Eileena pinched the layer of ’exuvia,’ feeling it was sowhat prickly.
"Co with to the workshop."
After Eileena prepared so materials and saw the smoke covering the exuvia gradually turn black, she couldn’t help but show a look of surprise.
"What does this an?" Zheng Yichen asked, looking at the blackness on the exuvia.
"Evil intentions, a very strong demonic thought lies within this exuvia," Eileena said, giving Zheng Yichen an extra glance. She had previously found the seed of ’evil’ within him.
The evil thought on the exuvia was identical to what she had discovered before.
"Is this a good thing or a bad thing?"
Eileena pondered for a mont, "Good, I suppose. The sprouted evil has moved onto this layer of exuvia, effectively weakening its influence on you. However, just to be safe, let’s do a test."
New smoke swirled around Zheng Yichen without causing much of a color change. Eileena smiled and nodded, "That’s how it should be. If you are too heavily influenced by ’demonic thoughts,’ you can continue using this thod."
"Forget it, you have no idea what I was thinking at that ti," Zheng Yichen said, glancing at the exuvia from which the black smoke was fading away and without hesitation pierced his own chest, sheer ruthlessness: "This layer of exuvia is not useful anymore, right?"
"If we don’t approach it from White Magic, then actually, it’s even better," Eileena shook her head. The exuvia bore an extrely intense ’evil’ thought, which, lacking self-awareness, could greatly influence a living being if used well; even altering one’s personality was just a basic side effect.
It’s great material for Curse artifacts and also can be made into special Amulets, akin to a magnet, that would draw any demonic thoughts from Zheng Yichen or absorb so of it. As for making other witch’s tools, the effects would be amplified, but the user would inevitably be affected by the demonic thoughts.
That was unavoidable.
The quality of the exuvia was also much higher than the previous ones left by Zheng Yichen; if one could overlook the side effects, it was indeed a valuable find.
"The food is ready," Katrina said as she ca into the workshop, looking curiously at the exuvia on the table. However, more than research, she was concerned about Zheng Yichen’s condition.
"Let’s go, eat. I can’t wait any longer."
Zheng Yichen imdiately washed his hands and left the workshop. He couldn’t do much with his own exuvia except for rudintary handling. It was sothing that should be left to the professionals. He needed to eat!
In the living room, a large ho-use grill was set on the table, surrounded by a lot of prepared at: "There’s plenty of food stored at ho; I brought the grill over."
"Perfect."
Zheng Yichen instantly transford into a devourer of food. Katrina watched, hesitating to speak. The at Zheng Yichen was eating, so not even fully cooked, just dipped in extra sauce. After watching for a while, she put down her chopsticks; Zheng Yichen’s ravenous eating made her feel sowhat heartbroken.
Whilst imrsed in his food, Zheng Yichen could feel the weakness dissipating, his enhanced stomach working at high efficiency. The food he consud was digested instantly; he felt like his gastric acid could be used directly as a strong acid.
"Is that all?"
"...yes, I’ll go buy more right away," Katrina said, looking at the box on the floor with a sense of defeat. Zheng Yichen had already eaten half a month’s worth of food from ho.
"Let’s go together," Zheng Yichen said as he touched his stomach, not feeling full. In fact, after eating a little, he felt hungrier, possibly because the food quality wasn’t high enough. This kind of recovery was nowhere near as good as absorbing blood through Extraordinary abilities.
Before leaving the house, Zheng Yichen made an extra request to Eileena, "There are so very dangerous items in that box, I’ll deal with them when I co back."
Eileena nodded.
In the market, Katrina pushed a shiny shopping cart with a strained expression; it was filled only with at, no greenery at all. Seeing Zheng Yichen’s unsatisfied look, she suggested, "Shall we go to the southern forest tonight?"
