"My na is Moe. I am of the Uska tribe… guardian of that seal for three generations."

Khael bowed his head, not showy, only solemn.

"I am Khael." His voice rang through the pearl mosaics like a promise. "Dragon Knight or not, I won't let Thal'ryx drown these people."

Outside, the village had beco a river of panic. Families fled through narrow streets, clutching children, dragging what little they could carry. Guardians ran with them, armor cracked and bleeding, forming walls against the tide of scaled fiends pouring from the surf.

"To the caverns!" a captain bellowed, hauling a limping elder on his shoulders. "Move! Don't stop, don't look back!"

The sky had curdled into a bruised do. Waves rose like black walls, split by the stirring of sothing too large to na. Ships splintered like toys. The air itself seed to drown.

On the shattered docks, five figures did not run.

Ceyla Nox stood first, hair a whip of storm, her despair-born Shinrei sparking arcs of violet through the rain.

"Gate of Resonance! Open!"

Lightning split the harbor. She blurred, a streak of chaos, carving three serpent-fiends into ash before they could strike the fleeing crowd.

Juno Arkai anchored beside her, shoulders braced, scars webbing across his fists.

"Taishin Path… Fifth Gate, Iron Nerve!"

The pain in his body vanished, chains ripped away. He t a three-story-tall beast, caught its jaw in his hands, and broke its neck across his knee. The crack bood louder than thunder.

Lira Valenne moved like sunlight through the storm, Shinrei blooming in radiant arcs.

"Echo Art: Radiant!"

Light blossod over bleeding Guardians, knitting flesh and spirit. n who had fallen rose again, eyes lit as if reborn.

Rael Eluron was their mirror and anchor. The Verdant Mirror spirit burned behind him, erald eyes cutting through chaos.

"Echo Art: Lun Sever!"

His blade cut not just one, but entire lines of scaled horrors, as if slicing through inevitability itself.

Three years of scars. Three years of failure. Three years of rciless training. Here, on the brink of annihilation, they stood unyielding.

Then the ocean scread. The harbor split. A shape moved beneath, vast and suffocating. An eye broke the surface golden, abyssal, larger than a temple bell. Its gaze fell on them all.

Thal'ryx had opened its eye.

Every villager still running felt it. Legs buckled. Mothers wailed. Guardians clenched their teeth and dragged the weak forward, trembling as if the sea itself demanded submission.

Ceyla's storm stuttered. Lira's veil faltered. Even Rael's spirit flickered, recoiling from sothing beyond sight.

Then—

From the pearl-lit hall, two figures strode into the storm.

One boy with fire in his veins, Shinrei blazing molten red.

One youth with dragon's blood in his soul, wind-born aura rising like a vow.

"Ceyla! Juno! Lira! Rael!" Kaen roared, teeth bared against despair. "Three years led to this, don't you dare show your backs now!"

The four straightened, bloodied but unbroken. Their training, their scars, their Shinrei flared together, weaving a single defiant blaze.

Khael lifted his hand toward the sea, toward the colossal eye staring back.

"I am Khael. Dragon Knight or not… this ends with us."

Amidst it, Elder Neria stood tall, robes heavy with saltwater. Black hair clung to her face, but her eyes were ocean-blue fire.

"Echo Art: Pearl Sanctuary!"

A do of luminous water surged up, shielding the last cluster of children. For a heartbeat, the storm itself bent aside.

Kiro, Toren, and Lys stumbled beneath it, eyes wide. Toren clutched his sister's hand tight.

"Run, Lys! Don't look back!"

"But—Toren, Kiro—"

"Shut it! We'll all make it!"

The wind tore across the docks, tearing at hair and clothes, carrying the stench of salt, brine, and fear. Lanterns swung violently, splashing fragnted light across shattered wood and wet stone. Villagers scread, clutching children to their chests, as Captain Roan barked over the roar of the sea.

"Move! Keep them toward the sanctuary! No hesitation!"

Kaen's fists flared with fire, red-hot veins of Shinrei snaking along his arms as he shepherded the children toward Elder Neria's protective wards. Every step brought them closer to safety.

"We have to hold them here," Kaen thought. "I can't let Thal'ryx—even at half strength—reach them. I won't."

On the edge of the chaos, Rael stood tall, his Lun Blade shimring.

"Khael…" he called over the cacophony.

Khael turned, dark hair plastered to his face, scales glinting faintly in the moonlight.

"I have a plan."

"Finally. A plan worthy of execution. Don't let down."

"Rael, you lock the head," Khael said, voice low but unwavering. "Precision, not strength. Nothing else. Just the jaw."

"Tsk. Don't order around… but I forgive you this ti." Rael's erald light flared as he adjusted stance.

"Thank you for following ."

"Tsk." Rael smirked.

"Juno," Khael continued, "Fifth Gate. Anchor the tail. Do not falter. The monster's strength is your tool."

"I can take it. Nothing touches . I control every strike."

"Kaen, fire through the seams Juno exposes. Controlled, precise. Do not waste strength."

"Finally. Let's see what this beast fears." Kaen grinned, flas licking along his arms.

"Ceyla, tendons and nerves. Hit hard, fast. Make it stumble."

"It will dance to my lightning or it will break." Ceyla's stormy eyes flared.

"Lira, keep them alive. Stitch, shield, thread our strikes. Every drop of Shinrei counts."

"Nothing dies on my watch." Lira whispered, hands glowing softly, aura calm yet firm.

"Roan, Guardians, wedge them shallow. Keep the villagers away from the tide. No misstep."

"Even if you are the Dragon Knight, why would I take orders from you?" Roan barked.

"Please, Roan," Elder Neria said, serene but firm.

"Elder…" Roan muttered, hesitation flickering.

"Follow Khael… follow his order."

The sea rumbled as Thal'ryx erged fully, towering and twisted, scales blackened, spikes glinting like obsidian. Even at half strength, it radiated raw, intelligent power. Every muscle, every sinew, every surge of corrupted Shinrei thrumd with lethal intent. Its jaws snapped, sending waves smashing into the dock.

"This thing… fifty percent… and it moves like a god," Kaen thought, flas licking higher. "We trained for three years… every beat, every Echo Art, every Taishin Gate… it all cos down to this."

Rael stepped forward, Lun Blade raised, erald light blazing.

"Then let's remind it what humans can do." ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ novelfire
