The train ride, once a cause for concern due to past experiences, turned out to be quite enlightening for Alex as it ca to an end.

He’d hardly been curious about the Mortal Wheels before now, perhaps because of how Arthur had spoken about them, causing him to subconsciously neglect knowledge about them.

Regardless, his ti with Alejandro and in Aragon had taught him to not be so quick to push aside such things.

The Mortal Wheels, albeit not as illustrious as the Immortal Wheels, held strengths that one could hardly ignore, especially soone like Alex who planned to travel the world in search of the Branches.

In any case, Alex deed it necessary to learn more about the Mortal Wheels considering Victoria’s knowledge of them was superficial at best.

Of course, that didn’t an he learned nothing as he managed to learn about the precarious state of the Conjoined Wheel which was said to be in the sa state as the Human Wheel, which was in a manner of speaking, almost without Mystics.

It caused him to wonder if the reason for that was similar to the Human Wheel, though if that was the case, the question would turn to what was wrong with the Human Wheel.

In any case, the ride had co to an end and with it, Alex’s need to distract himself.

Now it was ti to focus.

The train station at Cance, as expected, wasn’t as busy as one would expect though one could still find the occasional passenger moving about, so moving to board the train while others disembarked.

Alex and by extension, Victoria were part of the latter category as they stepped out with minimal luggage before making their way towards the train station entrance.

"I’m surprised, master," Victoria said as she followed beside Alex.

"About?"

"Considering our enemies are aware of our presence, I’d expect they’d have attacked you to figure out if you were still... you."

Alex chuckled. "There was always the chance of that but that didn’t happen and I’m all the more happy for it. Regardless, I doubt they would still hold back now that we are in their territory so, rember..."

Trailing off, Alex made sure to glance at Victoria with the latter doing the sa causing their eyes to et.

"Do exactly as I instructed. Understood?"

"You have no need to worry, Master. I will do as you say."

"Good, then let’s..." Alex suddenly trailed off as he felt a cold draft caress his neck.

At the sa ti, he felt a presence behind him.

Noting Victoria’s frown as she stared behind him, Alex quickly understood what was happening.

Keeping his composure, he turned to find a slender, relatively dark-skinned man, looking to be in his late sixties, standing a few ters behind him, dressed in a fanciful-looking black suit with a monocle on his left eye and a top hat on his head.

He also wore a top hat and his hands were covered with white gloves with both resting on a black cane he carried.

His appearance allowed Alex to deduce that the man before them was an aristocrat or at least was related to one rather closely.

"Ah, Mr. Lucius, nice to see you again." the man remarked amiably as he regarded Alex before glancing at Victoria who stood behind him. "And you must be his benefactor. Nice to et you."

Victoria simply nodded while Alex took a few seconds to scrutinize the man.

The fact that he hadn’t noticed anything before the man ca close was botherso and the fact that even Victoria had only noticed when he revealed himself was worriso.

He had evaluated the Supre Order to be powerful, based on Alejandro’s words and so, but even that wasn’t enough to lower his wariness at the mont.

Of course, he was aware of the old man’s identity, considering he had Lucius’s mories to work with but even Lucius had never quite figured out if he was a mber of the Order or not.

Regardless, enough introspection, little could be achieved with silence.

And so, Alex replied. "Butler Fenwick, I had no idea you’d be coming to get personally."

The man... no, Butler Fenwick replied. "Of course, initially we didn’t plan for this but considering what had happened, I deed it necessary to co and find you lest anything unsavory were to befall you."

"That’s quite thoughtful. If I were to be honest, the only reason I’m standing here now is because of this beautiful lady." Alex remarked while gesturing to Victoria who had co to stand beside him at so point.

"Indeed, I am quite privy to your circumstances. Co along, Master awaits your presence."

"Of course."

With that, Butler Fenwick turned and led the remainder of the way with Alex and Victoria following closely behind.

Alex glanced at Victoria’s side profile, intending to use eye language to inquire if she had sensed Fenwick before his arrival but decided against it since it would be too conspicuous.

This was why he needed to find a ans to establish ntal communication between his mbers.

Letting out a regretful sigh at the missed opportunity, Alex soon found himself outside the station and in awe at the sight it held.

The cobblestone streets stretched as far as the eyes could see with incredibly eye-catching buildings, sporting a rather fantastical aesthetic compared to the gothic and militaristic Alex was used to seeing.

Even more astounding were the horse-drawn carriages which were completely nonexistent, instead replaced by four-wheeled carriages which seed more like the initial prototype for what the car would look like in the future.

Driven by a steam engine, the four-wheeled carriage was a bit robust but this did nothing to deny the fact that it was indeed quite an intriguing sight.

"This way, Lucius. Our ride is waiting." Fenwick casually remarked as he led them to a waiting car.

Once boarded, the car let out a whistle with so steam pouring out from a pipe before it began its ride toward a certain destination.
