After the darkness that had enveloped my vision lifted, I found myself in a surreal place, seated amidst clouds that seed to stretch endlessly. Before stood a figure of unparalleled beauty, radiant as the moon, ethereal and subli, bathed in the hues of white and sky, exuding an aura of majesty. It is none other than the god Lunar. This is the first ti I’m seeing his true form in front of .

"You woke up?" the god inquired, breaking the spell of awe that had left speechless.

I hesitated for a mont, still absorbing the breathtaking sight before . The god’s presence was both captivating and humbling.

"So, what brings you here?" he asked, curiosity gleaming in his divine gaze.

I finally found my voice. "What do you an, what brings here? Isn’t this your doing, drawing into this godly realm?" I replied, my perplexity evident.

"No! This ti, it’s not . You entered this domain on your own. I had no hand in your arrival in the god realm, a place accessible only to those granted permission by a god. Tell , why are you here? Or more intriguingly, how did you enter this place?" he questioned, deepening my confusion.

The realization hit like a bolt of lightning. How could I have entered this realm without his intervention? I m a re human, and my previous encounters with the divine had been under very different circumstances. I struggled to find an explanation for my presence.

"Bernice! I’ve asked you sothing," he urged once more, his patience waning.

"I know you’ve asked, but I don’t have an answer. I’m confronted with many unanswerable questions, and this is one of them. I don’t know how I ca here. One mont, I was in my study, and the next..."

"What did you just say?" he interrupted, his divine presence crackling with intensity.

"I said, as you heard, my eyes turned red, as if blood coursed within them, ready to spill as tears at any mont," I elaborated.

"Bernice, are you a demon?" His question incited a flicker of anger within .

"Do demons die?" I retorted, refusing to yield to his insinuation.

He shook his head in negation. "Then how did I die back then? If I were a demon, I could have prevented my death by using so power, right? But I couldn’t. So, tell , am I a demon?" I inquired, echoing his previous question.

He fell into contemplation, grappling with the complexity of my query.

"But how could you possibly be here? Or did soone let you in without my knowledge?" he pondered, pacing before .

"Yes, sothing similar happened to once—a woman entered the god realm," he revealed.

"A woman? Who?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

"If I had known, do you think I would be asking you?" he retorted, his irritation evident.

"How would I know? I’m not a god," I muttered, casting a sidelong glance at him.

"Bernice! You know how ill-tempered you are? I doubt that if it were soone else, they would have even been able to stand here after misbehaving like this," he chastised .

"Then what’s stopping you? You can dismiss if you wish. What’s holding you back? Haven’t all the gods once killed already? You can do it again," I provoked, pushing him to respond.

"As if it can be done," he replied in a low tone, his voice laden with implications that left deeply intrigued.

"Why couldn’t it be done? Wasn’t that what gods typically did? They controlled the fate of humans, inserting periods where needed. So why did he say it was impossible? What was this mystery?" I pondered.

"You can go now. I’m sure your husband must be worried," he redirected the conversation.

"My husband? Didn’t you say he’s cold and could kill at any ti?" I reminded him.

"Yes, but from what I’ve observed, he’s been frantic, awaiting your awakening. You should hurry and return to your body unless you wish to remain deceased. It’s been several hours since you arrived here," he advised.

"How do I return, then?" I inquired, eager to heed his counsel.

He massaged his temple, and a mist seed to veil my vision. When it cleared, I opened my eyes in my room, lying on my back, staring up at the familiar ceiling.

"Duchess! You’re awake? Goodness! The Duke was beside himself with worry. Let fetch him," Vix exclaid upon seeing open my eyes.

He was worried? The Duke was worried? Alexavier Agnes was worried? I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t fathom this thought.

"Madam, you’ve awakened! God, you have no idea how scared I was. Grant found you in the study," he said, his voice filled with panic.

"Duke, how long have I been asleep?" I asked.

"Madam, it’s been more than twelve hours since you’ve been in this state. I didn’t know what to do. Even the imperial doctor said you were fine, but you wouldn’t open your eyes, so it worried ," he explained nonstop.

"Duke, I’m alive. You don’t have to worry like this," I said in a calm tone.

"Madam, what are you saying? You are the Duchess, my wife. How could I not worry about you?" he replied.

"Duke, I know it would have been troubleso if I had died like this, but I am alive. This Duchess is alive, and I will try my hardest to finish the contract," I said with a smile. I knew his worry was largely related to the title, and acknowledging it would calm him down.

"Madam!!!" he placed his palm on my lips.

"Don’t speak of death! It’s not about the mansion. It’s not about the contract. It’s not because of any responsibility. I’m genuinely worried for you," he said, his brows furrowing in pain.

No, don’t look at like that. Seeing you this way breaks my heart, and in the end, I won’t be able to bear it.
