Chapter 713: Chapter 712

Marisa Walsh and Selena Horton were stunned.

Both hurriedly called out, “Old Mrs. Horton, Old Mrs. Horton!”

Kiera and Lewis had already rushed over.

Without saying a word, Lewis pushed the two aside and trembled as he reached for Old Mrs. Horton’s nose.

He didn’t dare to look.

He didn’t dare to test.

His fingers even started trembling, and his eyes gradually reddened…

Just as everything seed to blur before his eyes, a steadying voice entered his ears: “Grandma’s fine.”

Lewis felt as though his awareness suddenly returned to his body. He turned his head and saw Kiera checking his grandmother’s pulse, focused and intent.

Clearly, she had just felt the pulse and reassured him first, fearing he might panic.

Lewis breathed a sigh of relief, his hand finally moving beneath Old Mrs. Horton’s nose, sensing her breath. Only then did he relax completely.

Kiera remarked, “Grandma just fainted. It’s normal. Her physical condition is very weak right now.”

After saying this, she withdrew her hand.

Lewis imdiately carried Old Mrs. Horton to the bedroom.

He knelt by her bed, pressing her frail hand to his face…

Kiera saw this and said nothing, silently standing by his side.

Marisa Walsh and Selena Horton didn’t dare move far, keeping watch nearby. Having received the news, Oliver Horton and Nathan Horton also arrived.

Oliver appeared relatively composed.

Nathan, however, visibly reddened around the eyes as he looked at his aged mother…

No one knew how much ti had passed when Old Mrs. Horton finally woke up.

She slowly opened her eyes.

Lewis promptly appeared in her line of vision: “Grandma.”

Old Mrs. Horton smiled faintly: “Did I fall asleep?”

Her gaze swept across everyone in the room.

Lewis imdiately responded, “Yes, you fell asleep.”

“Falling asleep is good, falling asleep is good!” Old Mrs. Horton chuckled, reaching out to touch Lewis’s cheek. “Good child, don’t cry, Mom’s here, it’s okay.”

Lewis’s expression froze.

Old Mrs. Horton continued, “Nathan, Mom will always be here for you from now on.”

Lewis froze again.

Kiera looked at him in shock, about to say sothing to comfort him, but Oliver suddenly brightened up and nudged Nathan excitedly: “Dad, Grandma’s calling you!”

Nathan was also stunned. He pushed Lewis aside and rushed to Old Mrs. Horton’s side: “Mom, I’m here!”

Old Mrs. Horton laughed: “Huh, you’re not Nathan; aren’t you Nathan’s grandfather?”

Nathan’s age did indeed make him old enough to be Lewis’s grandfather…

Nathan’s expression stiffened.

Old Mrs. Horton continued, “No, Nathan, why do you look so old now?”

Nathan burst into laughter: “Right, Mom, I’m over sixty now; how could I not be old? You’re over eighty yourself!”

“I’m over eighty? I’m only thirty!”

After saying this, Old Mrs. Horton turned to Lewis: “Who are you? Whose child are you? How could you be so good-looking!”

Lewis’s eyes reddened.

Old Mrs. Horton had been diagnosed with Alzheir’s, dentia — the most distressing symptom of this illness was forgetting people.

But hadn’t she already taken the dicine developed by Dr. Nora? Wasn’t she better now?

He looked at Kiera in confusion.

Kiera’s heart sank.

She stepped forward to assess Old Mrs. Horton’s condition, lifting her eyelids to check…

Nathan and Oliver exchanged glances, and Oliver quickly spoke: “What are you doing? She’s so old now, just leave her be!”

Nathan chid in: “Yeah, Mom’s already this old. Let’s stop the treatnts! Don’t put her through any more pain!”

If Old Mrs. Horton only rembered him, then transferring ownership of all the shares to the first branch of the family would be seamless!

The two pushed Kiera aside.

Kiera frowned, and Lewis steadied her, asking softly, “What’s wrong with Grandma?”

Kiera looked at Old Mrs. Horton…

She saw the elderly woman gazing back at her, her eyes calm as water, as deep as an ancient lake.

After a mont of silence, Kiera finally spoke: “The dicine has lost its efficacy.”

Disappointnt flashed across Lewis’s eyes: “What if we try to treat her?”

Kiera sighed: “Grandma has about half a month left. If we want to treat her, she would require injections. It will be very painful…”

Lewis’s eyes reddened instantly and he replied without hesitation, “Then don’t treat her.”

Kiera nodded slightly.

Nathan’s face lit up with joy.

Lewis was about to step forward when Old Mrs. Horton spoke: “Good child, why are you in my house? Go back to your ho! Don’t stay here!”

Lewis froze in his tracks.

Oliver imdiately turned to him: “Lewis, Grandma doesn’t recognize you. You should leave first. Dad and I will take care of her here!”

Lewis looked at Old Mrs. Horton.

But Old Mrs. Horton smiled warmly at Oliver: “Are you Nathan’s son? Then you’re my grandson?”

Oliver’s face lit up imdiately: “Yes, Grandma, I’m your grandson…”

Old Mrs. Horton nodded: “Good grandson, good grandson… Co closer so Grandma can take a look.”

Oliver nodded eagerly.

Beside them, Nathan smiled faintly before turning to Lewis: “Why are you still here? Do you want to make Grandma’s final monts restless? Hurry and leave!”
