“Ahh~”

Ling Ning stretched luxuriously, her slender waist and the curves beneath her clothes revealing themselves in the movent. Thankfully, all the other students had left, except for Xu Qing and Xia You—otherwise, her classmates would’ve definitely let out howls.

After sleeping all morning, she felt incredibly refreshed. The clash of mories had also eased sowhat, though the urge to sleep hadn’t completely gone away.

“Ling Ning, what were you doing last night? Why did you fall asleep the mont you got to school?” Xu Qing asked, unable to hold back her curiosity.

“Oh… nothing, really. I just stayed up late writing my novel,” Ling Ning deflected with a quick excuse. She couldn’t exactly say she’d spent last night reliving mories.

“Writing is fine, but rember to take care of yourself. After all, health is the foundation of everything. If you exhaust yourself, it’s not worth it,” Xu Qing advised earnestly.

“Got it… thanks… yawn~”

“Well, as long as you’re okay. See you in the afternoon.” Xu Qing gave a reassuring smile and left the classroom.

As soon as her “obstacle” left, Xia You silently celebrated and moved closer to Ling Ning. “Um… Ling Ning, do you want to have lunch together?”

“Cafeteria, probably~” Ling Ning replied. Even though the cafeteria food was terrible, it was cheap, and she could overlook anything if it ant saving money.

“I… I’d like to treat you to lunch. As a thank-you for helping with that injury last ti.”

Hearing “free lunch,” Ling Ning’s eyes lit up. Between cheap but tasteless food and a free, tasty al, the choice was obvious.

“Sure, that sounds great!”

Seeing Ling Ning accept, Xia You led the way with a cheerful spring in her step.

The restaurant Xia You chose wasn’t far from school and was much fancier than most nearby places, with carefully prepared dishes and tasteful decor. It wasn’t exactly cheap for a student, but it was affordable if a few friends chipped in occasionally. Of course, so wealthier students could probably dine here daily.

By the ti they arrived, the place was nearly full, so they quickly took one of the last open tables.

Xia You handed the nu to Ling Ning, saying, “Order whatever you like—it’s on .”

“Oh, no, no, it’s my first ti here, so I don’t really know what’s good.” Ling Ning waved off the offer. There was no way she’d spend big on a al in such a pricey place; she had to be cautious with every cent she spent.

With a smile, Xia You ordered a few dishes—all of which happened to be Ling Ning’s favorites. The night she stayed at Ling Ning’s, she had carefully asked Ling Ye about her mother’s likes and dislikes, storing the information away for this mont.

While they waited for the food, Xia You skillfully steered the conversation toward Ling Ning’s novel. Xia You was well aware of her writing and had read it at least ten tis to understand her better. She even waited for every new chapter eagerly, finding Ling Ning’s story genuinely entertaining.

Discovering that Xia You was a dedicated fan, Ling Ning’s interest was imdiately piqued. She launched into an enthusiastic discussion about the plot, her drowsy eyes now bright and lively. For convenience, she even moved over to sit beside Xia You.

Xia You gazed dreamily at Ling Ning, her subtle fragrance intoxicating her senses. She wanted so badly to take Ling Ning, to press her down on the table, tug at her ears, hear her soft whimpers, pin her down, and make her hers. She wanted to pull off Ling Ning’s skirt, to see her struggle quietly so as not to alert others, to tuck her into a locker after class and watch her attempt to call out yet hesitate…

In the middle of her lively conversation, Ling Ning suddenly felt a chill down her spine, shivering as she looked at Xia You, who, for a brief second, had a strangely fervent expression and an eerie smile. But when she blinked, Xia You’s usual shy deanor had returned.

“Must be my imagination,” Ling Ning thought, wondering if her overlapping mories were affecting her perception.

“The food’s here—better eat before it gets cold.”

Xia You’s words brought Ling Ning out of her thoughts, and she eagerly started on the al, blissfully unaware of the intense gaze from her dining companion.

“Excuse , ladies, mind if we join you?”

Sun Jie looked at the two girls eating across from him. He recognized Xia You as the reserved yet unyielding girl he’d tried to pursue before, with no success. As for the other girl, he had no idea who she was; such a stunning face was unforgettable, so she had to be from another school or a recent transfer.

As Ling Ning was enjoying her food, an unfamiliar voice interrupted her. She looked up, just about to respond with “we do mind,” but Sun Jie had already sat down, not bothering to wait for their response.

Ling Ning shot him a quick glance, then went back to eating. Xia You, anwhile, kept her focus entirely on Ling Ning, never sparing Sun Jie so much as a glance.

Sun Jie’s confident smile froze on his face. Could it be that food was more attractive than he was?

After a while, Ling Ning finally swallowed her last bite, burping contentedly. Only then did she notice the unwelco guest across the table.

“Can we help you with sothing?”

Seeing Ling Ning finally acknowledge him, Sun Jie was about to speak when Xia You cut him off.

“Ling Ning, didn’t you say you were feeling sleepy? Let’s head back to the classroom for a nap.”

“Mm, good idea… yawn~”

Yawning, Ling Ning allowed Xia You to lead her out, leaving Sun Jie with his forced smile frozen in place.

But Sun Jie wasn’t discouraged. He’d overheard Xia You ntion that they were in the sa class, so he’d just have to wait for his chance.
