“Ye Ye, school starts tomorrow. Have you prepared everything you need?”

Hearing her mom’s question, Ling Ye rolled her eyes dramatically. It was the fifth ti her mom had asked her this tonight. Did she really need to be reminded so many tis? School supplies weren’t complicated—just a few stationery items, all of which she had prepared days ago.

Ling Ye couldn’t help but suspect her mom was deliberately reminding her to emphasize the end of vacation.

“I’ve already got everything ready, Mom. Stop nagging!” Ling Ye puffed out her cheeks in annoyance.

“Nagging? Is this what you call nagging?” Ling Ning tilted her head, deep in thought. She recalled her past life’s mom, whose incessant reminders at the start of every school term still lingered vividly in her mory.

As if reminiscing about sothing, Ling Ning smiled and continued, “Ye Ye, rember to listen to your teachers at school and get along well with your new classmates, okay?”

“Ah!” Ling Ye groaned in frustration, running her hands through her hair. “Mom, aren’t you taking to school tomorrow anyway? You can tell all this then! Say it now, and I might forget by tomorrow~”

Ling Ning nodded thoughtfully. “That does make sense.”

Relieved, Ling Ye let out a sigh. But before she could fully relax, her mom spoke again.

“Ye Ye, tomorrow’s your first day at a new school. Are you feeling a little nervous?”

“Not at all,” Ling Ye replied listlessly.

When she went to register a few days ago, she had already learned that several familiar faces would be in her class. Her best friend Qin Sirou and another close friend, Xu Xiaoxiao, would also be there. But for so reason, the two of them had been going out together a lot lately, leaving Ling Ye to feel slightly left out.

“Really? Not even a bit nervous? When I was your age, transitioning from elentary to middle school, I was so anxious! I worried about fitting in and making new friends.”

Ling Ning said, her expression nostalgic. Of course, she was referring to her past life. In this life, her own transition to middle school had been utterly unremarkable.

Seeing her daughter’s impatient look, Ling Ning suddenly rembered how she used to feel annoyed by her own mom’s incessant nagging. Smiling to herself, she decided to head back to her room to write.

Am I really getting more naggy these days? she wondered. If this continued, she feared she might evolve into a full-on chatterbox of a mom. Then again, even as a chatterbox, she’d be a beautiful one, so maybe it didn’t matter.

Finally left alone, Ling Ye could settle down and play so Gwent. But just as she was nearing the end of a match, she sensed her mom’s presence behind her. Turning around, she saw her mom smiling warmly at her.

She braced herself for another round of nagging, but to her surprise, her mom simply asked, “Do you want to sleep with tonight?”

“Yes!” Ling Ye responded imdiately, without the slightest hesitation. Sharing a bed with her mom was the best!

“Alright, but don’t stay up too late. You need to wake up early tomorrow,” Ling Ning said softly.

“Got it. Let finish a few more gas of Gwent, and then I’ll sleep.”

In a sacred cathedral, Ling Ye found herself gazing tenderly at her mom, who stood beside her in a pristine white wedding dress. She didn’t understand why she was suddenly here, nor how she had grown into an adult overnight. But the thought of marrying her mom filled her with indescribable joy.

The priest spoke solemnly, reciting familiar vows—lines Ling Ye vaguely recalled from a movie she had watched recently.

As the ceremony progressed, the mont to kiss her mom drew closer. Ling Ye’s heart pounded with excitent as their faces inched nearer. She could even make out every detail of her mom’s long lashes.

Just as their lips were about to et, she heard her mom say softly, “Ye Ye, wake up. You’re going to be late for school!”

With that, Ling Ye felt soone shaking her gently. The world around her faded to black. Slowly opening her eyes, she found her mom standing by her bedside, smiling warmly.

It was just a dream.

Ling Ye’s gaze instinctively drifted to her mom’s lips. Even though it had only been a dream, she had been so close to kissing those irresistibly soft lips.

“What’s wrong?”

Noticing her daughter’s unusual expression, Ling Ning leaned in closer, concerned. Perhaps Ling Ye hadn’t fully woken up yet.

Her mom’s face was now inches away, and Ling Ye’s head tilted forward involuntarily. In that brief mont, her lips brushed against her mom’s.

Ling Ning, however, didn’t make much of it. To her, it seed like her daughter was still half-asleep.

“Alright, Ye Ye, get up now. If you don’t hurry, you’ll really be late. I told you not to stay up too late last night, but you just had to play one more ga,” Ling Ning said fondly, ruffling her daughter’s hair.

“Okay, okay,” Ling Ye grumbled, pouting slightly. Her original plan had been to play just a few gas, but she had gotten carried away and lost track of ti.

After brushing her teeth and washing up, Ling Ye found breakfast already waiting on the table—her favorite combination of soy milk and fried dough sticks.

“Mom, aren’t you eating?”

“I already ate earlier. Now sit down, and I’ll braid your hair,” Ling Ning said as she picked up a brush and began expertly styling her daughter’s hair.

Sharp-eyed Ling Ye noticed that her stationery bag had also been taken out by her Mom and placed on the nearby table.

While helping her daughter brush her hair, she softly asked: "Does Ye Ye rember what Mom said last night?"

When Ling Ye heard her Mom's question, she couldn't help but feel nervous inside, and imdiately assured that she absolutely hadn't forgotten, even repeating what her Mom had said—she definitely didn't want to hear her Mom's nagging again.

Ling Ling showed a disappointed expression: "You haven't forgotten?"

"No, definitely not!"

Seeing her daughter's nervous expression, Ling Ling couldn't help but laugh—her daughter was really so cute.
