Chapter 709: Chapter 671: Dumbledore’s Counterattack, Kael’s New Job (2)
Kael stood where he was, with a premonition that it wasn’t just the passwords that might have changed; maybe even Dumbledore had left the school.
With Fawkes around, going out was hardly a hassle.
Thinking of this, Kael quickly walked to another corridor and stopped in front of Professor McGonagall’s office door.
He knocked on the door.
"Kael?" Professor McGonagall opened the door and asked curiously, "What brings you here?"
"It’s like this..." Kael quickly said, "I have an important matter and need to find Professor Dumbledore, but it seems the password to the Headmaster’s Office has changed."
"Ah, that’s right..." Professor McGonagall’s expression changed slightly.
Because just a minute ago, Dumbledore himself was standing where Kael stood, and told her solemnly not to disclose the Headmaster’s Office password to Kael no matter what.
"Can you tell
the new password?"
"What bad luck." Professor McGonagall pursed her lips, her cheek muscles twitching as she held back laughter. "The Headmaster has sothing very important to attend to; he left the school a minute ago."
"Run away?" Kael took a deep breath.
"Co in." Professor McGonagall opened the door, and once Kael walked in, she continued to ask, "Why are you looking for the Headmaster?"
"It’s about that career announcent in the hall." Kael said, "Up until today, I hadn’t received any ssage."
"Oh, is that so?" Professor McGonagall said with a smile, "The Headmaster specifically explained that this was what he should do, no need to thank him..."
"Thank him?" Kael couldn’t help but raise his voice.
"Well, yes." Professor McGonagall said, "He said being a Senior Ministerial Assistant is a decent job, with quite a considerable salary. He’s pleased to see students attaining such positions before graduation, offering so modest help."
"Oh, and he also asked
to tell you to stay true to yourself and contribute more to the Magic Realm."
"Haha..." Kael forced a couple of laughs, "But Professor McGonagall, the last part of the announcent is clearly soliciting from Hogwarts, shouldn’t you manage that?"
"No, you’re mistaken." Professor McGonagall shook her head, "Hogwarts is just a school, after graduation, students are naturally going to work in different places, which includes the Ministry of Magic.
"So in my opinion, not only is there nothing wrong with this decision, but it’s actually the best decision in many years."
This...
Kael was sowhat speechless, but thinking about it carefully, it seed true.
Fudge undoubtedly did this to tether himself to Kael, while also attracting more outstanding students to boost his own prestige.
If Dumbledore truly wanted to be Minister, this decision wouldn’t benefit him, but if seen solely from the Headmaster’s perspective, it’s another matter.
Just like Professor McGonagall said, students finding good jobs before graduation should be delighted, how could they oppose it?
"Do you need anything else?" Professor McGonagall asked.
"No, that’s all."
"In that case, you’d better head back." She smiled and said, "I think your friends should have got the news already and will be waiting to celebrate with you."
Kael sighed and left the office.
Things happened just as Professor McGonagall predicted.
When he returned to the hall again, a large crowd was already there waiting, and as soon as they saw Kael, they gathered around him.
"Haha, Senior Ministerial Assistant, that’s impressive..." Fred suddenly smacked Kael’s shoulder.
"That idiot Percy has been graduated for so long, and he just beca a Ministerial Assistant..."
"And he only got that position by betraying the family..."
George said, "He recently slandered Dumbledore a lot, saying our support for Dumbledore was affecting his promotion, and he even had a big fight with Mom and Dad over it."
"Mom was upset for days..."
"If he knew you beca his boss before even graduating, he’d be insanely jealous."
"Don’t say that." Kael shook his head, "It’s just a trainee position; maybe I’ll be withdrawn tomorrow."
"Impossible." Tonks ca over from a distance, "That’s only because you haven’t graduated yet, just like
back then. Once you graduate, you can seamlessly beco a full-fledged Senior Ministerial Assistant."
Kael rubbed his forehead, well, yet another piece of bad news...
"Speaking of which, both you and Umbridge are ’Senior’, whose position is higher?" Fred curiously asked.
"There’s no comparison." Tonks said, "Umbridge is the Deputy Minister; only the Minister’s position is higher than hers.
"But Kael is not bad either; as a Senior Ministerial Assistant, he can already participate in so important decisions in the departnt, and even make so personnel changes when the Minister is busy."
She looked at Kael with shining eyes, "How about transferring
back to the Auror Office? You now have that power..."
Kael pretended not to hear, ignoring her completely.
This aggravated Tonks; her hair turned red in anger, and she spitefully said she would get back at Kael in the next class, which led to a burst of laughter around.
Kael squinted at Fred and George, who were laughing the most.
He rembered Mrs. Weasley always wanted them to work at the Ministry of Magic; they’re all brothers, and now that he has the ability, there’s no reason not to help.
Kael decided to write to Mrs. Weasley once he got back, to discuss the matters of arranging them jobs in the Ministry of Magic.
