Chapter 612
"From his deanor at the ti, it seems like soone discovered their secret experint, and furthermore, the research in his hands was at risk of being stolen. So, he entrusted with this object."
Layla Lowell turned to Chloe Collins, "Coincidentally, out of seven people, six extracted X, but only my teacher didn’t? Moreover, I’ve never heard him ntion anything about X."
Edward Turner responded, "I have no reason to lie to you. I ca here to give you this object since it’s of no use to ."
Chloe Collins fixed her gaze on him, "Why give it to ?"
"Because I can confirm that Joy Taylor is not a traitor, you naturally aren’t either. You’re the only person I could find. I feel at ease handing over this object to you."
"You still haven’t told us your real motive."
Edward Turner paused for a mont, then sighed, "I’m not a mber of your experintal group. Having this object with makes nervous all the ti; for , it certainly is a hot potato. Initially, I planned to wait for my foster father to take it back, but he failed to return, so I decided to give it to another mber of the group. The first person that ca to mind was your mother. Since she isn’t here, I could only find you."
Chloe Collins took a mont to think then asked, "Do you know the extraction thod?"
Edward Turner shook his head, "Even though I know a lot, I don’t understand research, nor did I participate in the experints. So, that thing is truly a burden to ."
"Where is the object?"
Edward Turner’s face lit up, "In the car, I’ll get it now."
He quickly rose and walked out, light on his feet.
Layla Lowell turned to Chloe Collins, "Do you believe him?"
Chloe Collins rested her finger on her lips, "We don’t have any leads right now, so we have to trust him."
"If X-1 can disrupt the human brain, what can this X-four do?" Layla Lowell mumbled, her eyes full of anticipation.
"If what he said is true, then as long as we find the X, there is hope for your illness." Layla Lowell’s eyes sparkled.
Chloe Collins replied, neither happy nor sad, "Hopefully."
Layla Lowell added, "Now that we have 1 and 4, we can certainly find 2, 3, 5, and 6."
Noises ca from outside, Edward Turner entered, carrying a box.
After entering a password, the box opened, revealing six small bottles inside. Each bottle was only the size of a pinky finger.
Three of them contained a pale yellow liquid, while the remaining three were colorless.
Edward Turner explained, "The yellow ones are X-1, and the other three are the activators."
He handed the objects to Chloe Collins, a relieved smile spread across his face, "I entrust them to you."
Chloe Collins took out her phone, "Leave a contact number."
"No problem."
The next day, Chloe Collins brought those objects back to the lab.
However, two hours later, Layla Lowell told her that those things were nothing more than common dicinal solutions!
"What’s going on?"
Layla Lowell affird, "I’ve tested them and they indeed are common dicinal solutions used for treating cough, having no connection to X-four."
Chloe Collins left the lab and took out her phone to call Edward Turner.
After making several calls, he finally answered.
"Sorry, I’ve just finished recording a show. What’s up?"
"The dicine you gave is fake."
"Fake? Impossible, it was my foster father who personally handed it to . I’ve been keeping it properly all these years. I do have sothing urgent at my end, if it’s convenient for you, co over and we can discuss. I’m at the TV Station Building."
"See you shortly."
After Chloe Collins hung up the phone, she asked Layla Lowell to grab the stuff, and then they set off.
