Chapter 610
Layla Lowell turned her head, her eyes asking Chloe Collins for an answer.
Chloe gave her a look, which implied her consent.
Layla handed him the spatula: "Well, I appreciate your help."
Then, the two girls stood aside and watched him cook.
Layla sighed: "I thought your last championship on that cooking show was rigged, but you can really cook."
Edward Turner replied: "I learned."
Layla leaned in and whispered to Chloe, "It slls delicious."
Chloe just humd in response, not saying much.
Her attention was focused on Edward’s movents, deep in thought.
"How do you know ?" she asked.
While cooking, Edward said, "I have to tell you about this matter privately."
With that, the late-night snack was ready.
He put down the kitchen utensils and washed his hands.
Pulling out his phone, he showed her a photo.
He didn’t deliberately hide it from Layla because those who knew the person would naturally understand, and those who didn’t, it would have no impact on them.
However, as soon as Layla saw the photo, she blurted out, "Isn’t that Uncle Ivan Serrano? Why do you have his photo?"
Chloe recognized the man in the photo as well, who was Ivan Serrano from her previous list of people she was searching for.
Before, in order to reassemble the group, she had sent people to find the forr mbers, and Ivan was one of them.
Edward, surprised, asked, "You know him too?"
Chloe: "What’s your relationship with him?"
Edward hesitated, glanced cautiously at Layla, and asked back, "Why do you know him?"
Chloe: "You answer my question first."
As soon as the na Ivan was ntioned, the atmosphere instantly beca tense.
All three of them had serious expressions on their faces.
The steam from the stir-fried noodles on the kitchen counter slowly rose.
After so thought, Edward finally said, "I was his adopted son. I ca to find you because of your mother, Joy Taylor."
Chloe and Layla exchanged glances and went into a room.
"Co in and talk."
Edward removed his hat, facing the two girls sitting in front of him, and after so hesitation, finally spoke, "These days the news on television is all about you. You look a lot like your mother."
Layla: "So what?"
Edward: "I don’t know if you’ve heard of the BDR experint."
Chloe felt a tightness in her heart, and said calmly, "Go on."
Watching her reaction, Edward was certain she knew about this matter, and continued, "My adoptive father was a mber of the experint group, and he was a colleague of your mother, Joy. I originally wanted to find her, but when I heard she had passed away, I gave up."
"But recently, I suddenly saw you on TV, and you look so much like your mother. After doing so research, I learned that you are Joy’s daughter, so I thought I’d give it a try."
He asked back, "How much do you know about the BDR experint?"
Layla casually replied with her legs crossed, "My teacher is Quentin Howard, so I basically know what he knows."
Edward’s eyes widened, lowering his head and murmuring, "I see, so you must have gotten together because of this experint, right?"
Chloe patiently let him finish, then said, "As far as I know, your adoptive father has passed away. Did he give you..."
"What? He’s dead?!" Edward was shocked and abruptly stood up.
"You didn’t know about this?" Chloe said slowly.
Edward was still astonished and shook his head slowly, "No, it’s impossible. He said he would co back for . He left sothing so important with ; he would never not co back for it."
"I know it’s hard for you to accept in the mont, but my people have checked, and he did indeed die in an accident in Morisia five years ago."
