Chapter 1701

Chase Carrington stretched out his hand to pull out a chair, "Sit down, you need to take good care of yourself, don’t get too tired."

Chloe Collins sat down, looked at him without any pretense or concealnt, and said directly, "Thank you for this."

Chase Carrington’s smile was amiable, "What’s there to thank for? There’s not much I can do for you. I am very happy to have done these things."

Chloe Collins looked down, silent.

A cup of warm tea was placed in front of her, its handle thoughtfully turned toward her side for easy holding.

"Don’t worry too much about the vaccine situation, they will give us justice."

Chloe Collins held the warm tea in her hands, just looking at him intently, not knowing what to say.

In the past, she never hid her words, speaking her mind. But this ti, though she had a myriad of things to say in her heart, they were stuck in her throat, not a single word coming out.

After a while, her gaze fell upon the book on the table.

It was a detective novel, an original foreign language edition.

Coincidentally, she had read it.

Chase Carrington noticed her gaze, picked up the book, and asked, "Read it?"

"I’ve read it no less than five tis, each ti feeling sothing different."

The smile once again appeared on Chase Carrington’s face, "It seems we have similar interests, this book is also one of my favorites."

"You enjoy these kinds of novels?"

"Yes, I’ve collected quite a few, all in Orlando, a whole room full of them. If you like, take the ti to sit there more often, you can read all day long."

She looked down, lips slightly upturned, "Okay."

With books as their connection, the atmosphere between father and daughter gradually ward.

She and Alexander Foster had another al together. Although it didn’t taste very good, it was quite special.

At the dinner table, she and Chase Carrington always managed to display a consistent understanding on any topic, converging quickly in conversation.

Alexander Foster and Charles Carrington watched, their hearts filled with joy.

After dinner, Chloe Collins played Go with Chase Carrington, while nearby, Alexander Foster and Charles Carrington were also making gestures.

They weren’t playing for amusent, they’d made a small bet.

After several rounds, Chase Carrington lost several books to Chloe Collins, continuously claiming he was getting old and no longer useful, but the smile on his face was more radiant than anyone else’s.

On the other side, Charles Carrington also lost miserably, all his valuable stuff ended up with Alexander Foster, almost to the point of removing his clothes.

Around four o’clock, William Foster called to hurry Alexander Foster back to deal with company matters, so both had to leave.

Chase Carrington placed the books he lost to Chloe Collins in the car and instructed them, "Be careful driving, and send a ssage after you get back."

"Okay." Chloe Collins nodded.

Alexander Foster opened the car door for her. As she was about to get in, she couldn’t help but turn back towards the doorway.

Chase Carrington stood there, waving at her, his expression gentle.

The warm sunshine shone on his face, exceptionally tender.

Sothing in her heart was touched, and her throat moved, "Go back inside, Dad."

In that mont, all three n were stunned.

She smiled without a word, ducking into the car.

Alexander Foster’s smile slowly spread, turning to Chase Carrington, waving, "We’ll co back to see you often, Dad."

Chase Carrington hurriedly responded with an ’eh’, followed by another ’eh’, that one a response to Chloe Collins’s earlier words.

As the car drove away, so moisture welled up in his eyes, yet his mouth curved into a smile.

"Dad, look at you, crying. Didn’t you always tell that a man shouldn’t easily show his tears?"

"If you’ve got nothing else, then go back, don’t hang around here just to annoy ," Chase Carrington said indifferently.

As the car disappeared into the distance, he turned and went back inside.

Charles Carrington: "???"

He followed Chase Carrington’s steps, laughing, "Even if you favor daughters over sons, at least try to cover it up a bit. At least make a pretense with , why show such disdain?"

"Dad, that’s not fair."

"Dad!"
