Chapter 1371

Chase Carrington responded with a short smile, sparing with words.

Alexander Foster added, "This is her favorite soup. She has remarked that the natural sweetness of the ingredients makes it very refreshing and pairs well with a al."

Chase Taste a sip and smiled deeply, "Her taste is quite similar to mine."

Charles Carrington also laughed, "Exactly opposite to mine, I really don’t take after my dad."

Chase glanced at him but didn’t respond.

This warning glance from him caused Sophia Ford to find her voice, "Oh, you do look alike, Mr. Carrington, both in appearance and in the way you glare at people. And it’s not just the look, but the character and gaze too. Exactly alike."

Setting down his soup spoon, Chase asked softly, "She... isn’t she coming today?"

"Wait a minute, who exactly is ’she’ you all keep ntioning?" Master couldn’t hold back anymore and finally spoke up.

He had been hearing tales of this one person since the conversation began and was thoroughly confused.

Alexander did not provide any explanation and simply looked towards Chase.

With a solemn look on his face, Chase paused for a while before slowly stating, "It is my daughter."

"Your daughter?" Master’s eyes widened in surprise, "How did you suddenly have a daughter?"

The famously abstinent Chase had only ever been in one arranged marriage. His lack of interest had so completely dismayed his wife that she divorced him shortly after bearing him a son, Charles. After which, he never remarried.

Could a man like him really have an illegitimate daughter?

Chase nodded in confirmation, admitting candidly, "I made so mistakes while drunk."

Master gave a soft sigh of understanding, raising an eyebrow slightly. Turns out it was due to alcohol.

Under the influence of alcohol, people tend to behave unconsciously and do things they aren’t aware of.

Switching gears in his thoughts, Master looked at Alexander with a slight tut, "Do you all know who his daughter is?"

Everyone nodded in affirmation.

Sophia revealed her gossipy smile, "Father, I forgot to tell you, Mr. Carrington’s daughter is Chloe Collins, your future granddaughter-in-law."

Master straightened up instantly, his face suddenly frozen.

"What...what? Who?"

"Chloe Collins!"

Turning towards Chase, Master asked, "They are saying..."

"Yes."

Chase was a man of few words, but each one carried weight.

Master quietened down instantly.

Chase began slowly, "Master Foster, I heard you don’t approve of her. Were the news reports mistaken?"

The room fell into silence.

Everyone knew those words were ant to give Master a way out.

If he simply agreed that it was a misunderstanding by the dia, all past issues will be put to rest.

However, if he denies it, then this dinner might not proceed any further.

Master suddenly looked at Alex, realising that this dinner was Alex’s idea, possibly orchestrated to make him acknowledge Chloe Collins as his future granddaughter-in-law.

At this mont, he felt trapped and chose to dodge the question, "Did you do a DNA test? This is a serious matter."

Sophia Ford began, "Father, this matter is..."

"Silence." Master cut her off sharply, gesturing for her to stop. His glare was fixed on Chase.

Commanding the sa respect as Master, Chase responded calmly with an undercurrent of severity, "If she is Joy Taylor’s daughter, there’s no doubt that she’s my daughter."

"Why is that so!"

Chase said nothing. It was sothing hard for him to explain.
