Chapter 1262

Caught snooping, she feigned this behavior to distract others.

The young man didn’t answer her, his head bowed down, looking utterly helpless.

Manie was speechless. This was the first ti she had ever seen such a weak man.

"Hey! Get up! Quit playing possum!"

She walked over to him, looking down at him from above.

But he ignored her, which only served to irritate her further. She couldn’t help but pry his hand open. "I want to see your true face!"

She pulled hard, only to be shoved aside.

Thud! Her back hit the wall, making her wince in pain. She was about to let loose on him when her words caught in her throat, her eyes widening.

A sudden pause!

The young man had red pupils and soft, handso features.

A wave of familiarity washed over her, latching onto a hazy mory.

She squinted her eyes, muttering to herself: "Are you... Liam Locke?"

A few years ago, her father showed her a picture of a boy claiming he was her betrothed, the Prince of Goldasia, nad Liam Locke.

The boy was handso with a serene temperant, and his red pupils left a lasting imprint in everyone’s mory.

"You are Liam Locke!"

She took two steps back, her gaze darting about as she tried to make sense of the situation.

He was significantly taller than the boy in the picture and his face more mature, yet he was easily identifiable.

"What are you doing here? I... I’ve already nullified our engagent. It won’t make a difference if you co here."

Liam didn’t respond, his eyes full of unease as he stared at her, seemingly terrified by sothing.

Manie was irritated. "What are you staring at? I’m not going to marry you even if you keep staring at !"

She bit her lip and avoided his gaze. Still, she was curious about his trembling hands, wondering what he was up to.

If it was an act, he sure was playing it convincingly.

"Miss York, look at him. Sothing seems off. Should I call for the Master?"

Manie glanced at him, noticing his steadily paling complexion. A drum of warning started to beat in her heart.

"What on earth are you trying to do? Do I scare you that much? Stop faking!"

"Aah——"

Liam suddenly scread and ran out, clamping his hand over his head.

The servant scrambled to follow. "Young master, you can’t just run off like that!"

"Enough!" Manie cut him off coldly, "He’s faking it, trying to get my attention. Don’t bother."

The servant replied, "But the Master ordered us to take good care of him, we can’t let him run around alone. He’s a guest Miss Collins brought over."

Manie’s eyes widened, "Chloe Collins is also here?!"

"Yes."

"She’s here too..." Manie was even more confused. If Chloe Collins was here, why did they summon her?

"Where’s my Master? I want to see him. Now!"

"The Master has yet to appear, Miss York. Please wait a while longer."

"Is Mr. Alexander here? Has he passed out drunk?" Manie asked with a stiff expression.

"Well, he is here, but it seems like he hasn’t consud any alcohol..."

Manie frowned deeply, as if unsatisfied with the answers she was getting. She decided to leave with long strides, figuring she’d better find Jerry River and clarify things herself.

The servant rushed after her, "Miss York, the Master commanded us not to disturb him."

"Move away, don’t block the way!"

At this point, they’d completely forgotten about Liam, and nobody went looking for him.
