Chapter 1261
She leaned by the window, staring at the water’s surface, unable to suppress the anxiety within her. She knew this matter was not so simple; her trip here might be part of the elders’ arrangent.
Alexander Foster would not get drunk for no reason, especially not at Bush Manor.
Even if he was drunk, it should be Chloe Collins who cos to pick him up, not her.
She was aware of these facts, yet she could not resist coming. Her mood at the mont was complex, filled with excitent, agitation, and uneasiness, as well as a hint of guilt.
It felt like... stealing sothing.
She shook her head vigorously, telling herself nothing was wrong.
"Manie York, calm down, calm down!"
Click.
A strange sound ca forth, like soone forcefully locking a door. She turned her head towards the doorway and found that the door was left ajar, not completely closed.
Her whole body tensed up instantly, her ears perked up. "Who’s there? Who is spying on ?"
The only response was silence.
"Impossible, I clearly heard it."
She muttered to herself. The more nervous she got, the more jumpy she beca, especially at a critical mont like this.
After a little while, she took a deep breath, slightly calming herself down and deciding to check what was going on.
She knew that the sound ca from the neighboring room, so she directly walked to the door of the neighboring room and knocked.
"Open up, I know soone is there."
Yet still it was silent.
Manie York was annoyed, she hated this kind of behavior.
"Open the door!"
No one answered.
Through the door, in the pitch-dark room, a figure was curled up in a corner, its mouth covered, its clear eyes filled with fear and terror. They were shivering, as cold as icy water, like a badly injured kitten hiding in the corner, terrified of being discovered.
Manie York, having no clear understanding of the situation outside the door, was completely enraged by this silent treatnt. So, she asked a servant to bring the key to open the door.
The servant ran over with a key, explaining, "There’s another guest inside. The Master said not to disturb him."
"So there really is soone in there!" Manie York’s charming face was tinged with annoyance.
At this point, her mood was sensitive, easily ignited by these minor matters.
"Open the door. I want to see who’s spying on !"
The servant had no choice but to insert the key and open the door.
As the door successfully opened, it revealed nothing but darkness within.
Manie York turned on the light, scanned the room, and found it empty.
The servant puzzled, "Huh? They were obviously here."
Manie York glanced around and suddenly noticed a pair of n’s sneakers in the corner behind the door.
She snorted coldly, walked to the bathroom door, and used the sneaker to bang on the door, "Co out, while I still have the patience, co out!"
The bathroom light was off, but the door was shut tight. Clearly, soone was in there.
Yet Manie York received no response. She then turned on the bathroom light. Just as the light turned on, she heard a low groan, a man’s voice.
"If you don’t co out, I’ll break the door down."
As she started to twist the doorknob, it unexpectedly opened.
With a cold laugh, she stepped in, and the sight before her eyes took her by surprise.
A young man about her age was crouched in the corner, hugging his knees. His head was buried in his knees, his hands tightly clasping his legs so strongly that his veins were prominent.
His hands were even paler than hers, almost sickly white. At the mont, they were trembling constantly.
The servant gave a start, "Oh, what happened, what’s going on here?"
Manie York gradually regained her composure, took a small step forward, and asked, "Hey, what are you doing? Are you pretending?"
