Chapter 1195

Charles was speaking to her but she didn’t hear a word he said.

Even when Alexander drew nearer, she didn’t notice at once, as she usually would.

All her mind was filled with was the familiar sll of blood and the increasing intensity of obscure sensations.

She went to the spot where Mane York had collapsed earlier. The sll of blood was stronger there.

The familiar sensation gradually triggered fragnted mories in her mind, several images flashed before her eyes, bringing with them a sense of uncertainty.

"Is sothing wrong?" Alexander asked.

"No, I will tell you when I am sure," she responded.

"What’s with the whispers? The weather’s nice today, let’s go out and have so fun." Charles Carrington suggested.

Chloe Collins glanced at him but she was in deep thought.

"Is there sothing wrong with ?" Charles asked, unsettled by her gaze.

Alexander clarified, "She’s not looking at you, she’s thinking."

Charles retorted, "She’s clearly looking at !"

Alexander replied, "Her eyes see, but her mind doesn’t perceive."

Charles muttered, "I don’t want to talk to you."

Ten minutes later, their group returned to the mansion just as Mane York, clad in a different outfit, walked away. Her fair and once exposed arms were now fully covered.

Chloe entered the bathroom of the guest room and looked around. The sll of blood was faint, almost gone.

No sll lingered on the trash can but it did in the sink and the toilet bowl.

The bloodied tissues had been flushed away.

She summoned Layla Lowell and Wanda Wesley to her room where they spent a half-hour.

During that ti, Wanda collected all of Mane York’s personal information.

Layla showed her the blood sample data from the laboratory.

Looking at the information on the computer, Wanda said, "Mane York has left ho twice in the last decade or so. The first ti was when she was between eight and ten years old. It’s said that she went to apprentice herself with a master since people on the Continent of Stortia are militaristic, so every family with ans would learn Ancient Martial Arts.

The second ti was when she was fifteen. She went alone to Goldasia to find her childhood betrothed with the intention of breaking off the engagent. But as her family disapproved, she went on her own."

Layla leaned towards Chloe and asked, "Chlo-Chlo, why are you suddenly investigating her?"

Wanda added, "She might be in the sa circumstance as the tall woman from last ti."

Chloe Collins nodded, "Yes, I suspect that too, but I can’t be sure yet."

After a mont of thought, Layla said, "It’s highly likely. She was flustered when she left earlier. She definitely has a secret."

Gazing at the data, Wanda continued. "As for her dical records, there are no anomalies. Either they have been tampered with, or we’re overthinking things."

Lydia mused, "Given her prominent background, it’s unlikely she’d be an experint subject... I wonder who’s orchestrating this group of subjects."

Chloe closed her eyes, resting her head against her hand, "We did not investigate this."

Wanda comnted, "Right, the last ti, the authorities took over when they discovered the situation through Hailey. Now they still don’t know about Chloe and . Chloe, if Mane York really is an experint subject, should we inform the authorities?"

Chloe opened her eyes, "First, let’s be clear about her situation. She’s different from other subjects in two respects: firstly, her freedom isn’t controlled, and secondly, her skin condition is no different from a regular person’s unlike the last batch of subjects."

Wanda said, "I’ll find so ti to keep an eye on her. If there’s evidence of X on her, it would simplify matters."

"Alright, let’s do that for now."
