Suddenly, soone called her over. She turned around and saw Sophia Spence.
"You’re not even looking at where you’re going. What are you thinking about?"
Manie York looked puzzled, turned her head, and only then did she realize there was a pillar half a ter away. If Sophia Spence hadn’t called her, she would have bumped into it.
With a coordinated aplomb, Sophia Spence looked at her, "Did Chloe Collins scare you?"
Manie York looked up, "You’re overthinking it!"
"Am I overthinking, or are you unable to admit your guilt?"
"It’s only a few bucks, don’t I have that? Why should I be scared?"
"Of course, you would be scared. You clearly know how much money she has invested in the lab’s project since its inception. That is no small sum, it’s bigger than what you, , or everybody else in the lab could ever afford," she winked at Manie York, enjoying her bewildered expression.
"Whether it’s a small amount or not, it doesn’t affect , I’m not without money." Manie York raised her chin, her gaze slightly cold.
Sophia Spence chuckled, "Do you have it? You might not have it. To be honest, when she has money, she really has money. You have money, but it’s your family’s money."
Manie York disagreed: "She is about the sa age as , if her family didn’t support her, how much could she have? Everyone is the sa!"
