Shane Rocker nodded, "That’s what I was thinking. To step back for a mont, even if she really passes the exam, it cannot be denied that she has no experience. We shouldn’t rashly employ a newcor. Any mistake could lead to significant loss."
"Yes, your considerations are very comprehensive, Professor Rocker. Among the three students previously employed, two are postgraduates with a rich history of awards; the other is Mane York, who won the Youth Innovative Technology Gold Award in the Continent of Stortia and published a paper in a public newspaper last year. For her age, she’s exceptionally talented. Given their performance, at the very least, newly recruited students should be able to match their level," said the other.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
The four people turned their heads to see Mane York, docunts in hand, coming in.
All the four professors showed amiable smiles, "Manie, we heard you won another award last night, congratulations."
Professor Rocker was very fond of this student and looked at her with admiration.
Manie York nodded, "Director, this is the latest test report."
She didn’t talk much about the celebration. Instead, she asked, "Teacher, are we getting a new mber?"
"Yes, she’s currently taking the exam, her na is Chloe Collins from your departnt."
The phone rang abruptly.
Professor Rocker picked it up, his expression changing. "The results are out?"
The other directors were surprised, "So soon?"
"Alright, I’ll go take a look," said Professor Rocker.
"She probably didn’t know how to write, and gave up," a director chuckled.
"It’s normal. The exam of a doctoral student is quite difficult. It’s unreasonable to let a freshman like her take it."
Then, Professor Rocker stated solemnly, "She passed with a perfect score."
"What?"
"How? She has only just started the course? Surely there is a lot of content she hasn’t even studied yet? How did she pass?"
Manie York felt a suffocating chill, as if sothing heavy was pressing on her.
Professor Rocker walked out of the room, "Let’s go have a look."
Everyone left the office.
In the reception room, Chloe Collins had been sitting for a while.
Hearing the footsteps, she looked towards the doorway.
Nathaniel Nolan and the assistant holding her paper ca forward, reporting her exam situation to Professor Rocker.
Professor Rocker looked at the exam paper over and over, his brow furrowed.
Nathaniel laughed, "Professor, a perfect score! See, I told you she had potential!"
Professor Rocker put away the paper, turned his head, and asked the assistant a few questions.
The assistant nodded, "Yes, I was with her the entire ti and watched her write."
The room filled with an awkward atmosphere.
This was questioning whether Chloe Collins had cheated, wasn’t it?
Professor Rocker gave his naive assistant a disapproving look.
He looked towards Chloe and asked directly, "Two-thirds of this paper’s content concern topics from upper-level courses that you haven’t taken yet, how were you able to answer them?"
"I studied a little on my own," Chloe said quietly.
"Studied on your own?" Professor Rocker looked skeptically at her, "Since when did you start studying?"
Chloe glanced at the clock and asked, "Professor, did I pass?"
Professor Rocker knitted his brows, handed the paper to the assistant, and said, "You can report to the platform managent departnt for now."
Nathaniel’s smile disappeared, "Professor, she should enter the laboratory."
"Joining the laboratory requires certain qualifications and experience, Nathaniel, you should understand this."
"But..."
"Enough discussion, let things proceed this way."
Nathaniel looked anxiously at Chloe, as if to say: I don’t know how it turned out like this.
Although the platform managent departnt is part of the laboratory, it’s basically not directly involved with core research. To put it bluntly, it isn’t even as significant as being a lab assistant.
