The two police investigators finally arrived at the resort. They were guided by the resort staff to the set where Lanny and others were waiting for them.
The police officers began interrogating the witnesses and the crew. They also checked the video recordings of the accident.
"Miss Lanny, these are the three people assigned to the props and safety equipnt." One of the police officers approached Lanny.
It turned out that Bella’s team was responsible for checking the props and equipnt. But the three of them insisted that nothing was wrong with the harness. It was newly bought.
Bella and the two boys were still being questioned.
’I don’t think Bella has sothing to do with the accident. She is Gael’s friend. She wouldn’t do anything to harm Athena. She is also an avid fan.’ Lanny thought to herself.
The director and the videographer’s team were cleared of the suspicion. They didn’t touch the harness.
"Soone might have swapped the harness with a broken one," Lanny speculated, sharing her thoughts with the police officers.
"We can check the fingerprints on Athena’s harness." The police officer inford her.
"Okay. We need to narrow down the suspects. I’m certain that soone tampered with Athena’s harness, intentionally causing this accident," Lanny stated with certainty.
After a while, an idea popped up in her mind. She whispered sothing to the police officer, giving him so instructions.
The police officer listened to her attentively, nodding from ti to ti. Soon, he went to gather everyone while Lanny started to move. She was so determined to uncover the culprit.
While Lanny was preoccupied, soone rushed to the hospital to check on Athena. Gael heard the news about the accident. Bella inford him a while ago.
Leaving his office, Gael visited St. Luis dical Center. Fortunately, this hospital was affiliated to Tan Group Hospital. His presence there would serve as part of his monthly monitoring.
Upon reaching the hospital, Gael looked for Athena. He saw her talking to Sasha.
"I can’t get near her," Gael mumbled in disappointnt. But he felt relieved, seeing Athena safe.
He imdiately sent a ssage to Athena, asking her to et him on the rooftop of the hospital.
Gael headed to the rooftop, waiting for Athena’s arrival. Since Sasha was busy with Dominique, Athena secretly went to see Gael.
Upon reaching the rooftop, Gael dashed in her direction, grabbing her as he engulfed her in his arms. "Sabby, are you okay? I heard about the accident."
"Yes. I’m fine. I’m not hurt. Dominique caught when I was about to fall to the ground. He was the one who got injured."
Gael was a little bit displeased at the ntion of Dominique. "He deserved it," he murmured.
Athena giggled when she heard him. "Yes. He deserved it. By the way, Gael, we can’t be seen together. I shall go now. Let’s talk later."
Gael broke the hug. "I understand. I’m just glad that nothing bad happened to you. I’m relieved now."
"Lanny is trying to catch the culprit. I have to go back and check her progress. Ashton will drive back to the resort." Athena bade farewell to him. She couldn’t stay there longer. She couldn’t afford to be seen with Gael.
"Okay, Sabby. Take care on your way. I’ll call you later." Gael gently stroked her hair before letting go of her hand. Athena gave him a quick hug before she left.
A few minutes later, Athena passed through the hospital lobby to et Ashton in the parking lot. She didn’t bother to see Dominique because of Sasha’s presence.
To her astonishnt, she spotted Dominique standing at the hospital entrance, his arm cradled in a sling.
"Eh? What is he doing here? Where is Sasha? Did he sneak out?" Athena murmured to herself as she observed Dominique from behind.
Using his uninjured hand, he hailed a taxi cab. It looked like Dominique was in a hurry. When the taxi stopped in front of him, Dominique imdiately stepped into the back passenger seat.
"Where is he going?" Athena was curious.
Without a second thought, she followed him. She waved her hand, attracting the attention of the taxi driver who had passed by the hospital.
The Taxi cab stopped, the driver letting her in.
"Mister, Follow that Yellow Taxi," Athena instructed her driver. Their eyes were looking at the Taxi who picked up Dominique.
"Got it, Ma’am. Wear your seatbelt and hold it tightly. I’m going to chase after the yellow taxi!" The driver was enthusiastic after receiving Athena’s command.
The driver seed very competitive. They continued to tail Dominique’s taxi until it stopped in the front of York City Police Departnt.
At that certain mont, Athena recalled that today was the day soone would confirm her death... or rather Sabrina’s death.
’Is he that eager to know about my whereabouts?’ she mused to herself, her eyes fixed on Dominique who was entering the YCPD building.

Earlier, Dominique was being examined by the doctor when he received a ssage from his friend, Chief Clint Espinas.
[ Dominique, we got an update regarding your ex-wife, Miss Sabrina Williams. Co to our headquarters, I’ll give you the details. ]
After reading Clint’s ssage, Dominique got off his sickbed and dashed out of the examination room without asking for his doctor’s permission.
Sasha and Ashton were both clueless that Dominique left the hospital. He was so eager to hear the update from Clint. He wondered if they had finally found his missing wife.
With large strides, Dominique headed to Clint’s office. He pushed the door open without knocking.
"Mr. Smith, you are finally here." He greeted him with a smile. However, his smile disappeared in an instant upon seeing his arm. "Eh? What happened to your arm? Did you get injured?" Clint asked him worriedly.
"It’s nothing. Tell where Sabrina is. Have you found her?" Dominique approached him, anticipating his reply.
Clint’s expression beca serious as he picked up sothing from his table. He handed the small box over to Dominique.
"Check this item. Please confirm if this item belongs to Sabrina."
Dominique opened the square box only to find a ring. His eyes widened for a mont as he scrutinized the ring. He took it from the box and assessed its appearance.
Complicated emotions flashed in his eyes when he saw their initials engraved on the ring. He couldn’t be wrong. This ring was their wedding ring.
"Yes. This belongs to Sabrina. Where did you find it?"
"Sigh. What a great coincidence! This ring is involved in a robbery case that was reported a few days ago. Co with . Let’s et the owner of this ring. They are waiting in the interrogation room."
Dominique followed him. Soon, they reached the interrogation room and t the married couple in their mid-40s.
The couple looked at Clint and Dominique in puzzlent.
"Chief, why are we still here? Can’t we go ho yet? Where is the ring of my wife? I thought you finally caught the robber?" The middle-aged man spoke up.
Clint just smirked at them and said, "It looks like you are not the original owner of the missing ring. I brought soone here. He is the true owner of this ring."
The husband and wife were surprised when they heard that. The woman’s face turned pale while the man beca nervous. He avoided eting Dominique’s eyes.
"Where did you find this ring? Did a woman give it to you? How co you have my wife’s wedding ring?" Dominique began asking the married couple.
The husband and wife exchanged glances with one another. Both of them were hesitating to answer Dominique.
"Please! Tell ! Where is she? My wife has been missing for five years. Why are you in possession of my wife’s ring?!" Dominique pleaded. He was begging them to answer his questions.
Sensing the reluctance and fear in the couple’s eyes, Dominique tried to reassure them. "I promise. I will not sue you. I just want to know about her whereabouts. Is she alive? Did you et her? Is she the one who gave you this ring?" he bombarded them with so many questions, eager to know the truth.
"Are you telling the truth? You won’t take legal action against us?" the husband wanted to hear his assurance. That’s the only way they would tell them what they knew.
"Yes. I promise..." Dominique swore to them. "Chief Espinas is my witness. I swear, I won’t file a complaint against the two of you."
The husband and wife t each other’s gazes once more.
"Honey, let’s tell him the truth. I think he might still be looking for her." the woman urged her husband to reveal what they knew.
The middle-aged man took a deep sigh before looking straight into Dominique’s eyes.
"Mister... I retrieved this ring from your wife’s dead body. Five years ago, I stumbled upon her remains by the riverbank. She’s been dead for several days. I took her ring and buried her. I’m deeply sorry but... your wife is dead."
Dominique: *Deafening silence*
Clint: "..."
