Chapter 194- I Did It For You

LOGAN’S POV

"You really want to know why?"

Lucian’s voice broke the silence like a slap. He was staring at , chest rising fast, jaw clenched, eyes burning.

"You really want to know why, right?"

I didn’t answer. I just looked at him. Waiting. Daring him to finally stop lying.

And then he said it.

"It was because she cheated on ," he growled.

My brows furrowed, my breath catching in my chest.

"She fucking cheated on ," he repeated, louder this ti—like he had to scream it out or it would eat him alive.

That’s when his body started to shake.

It was like sothing inside him cracked. Like he had been holding all of this in for too long. Like the words burned his tongue but now that they were out, he couldn’t hold anything back anymore.

He covered his face for a second, and I watched sothing I’d never seen before.

Lucian—the man who raised , the man I saw as stone, as steel—was breaking down right in front of .

His hands trembled. His breathing got heavier. His eyes, now watery, refused to et mine.

Everything that made angry a few minutes ago... it all lted. Like soone threw cold water on .

Because now I wasn’t mad. I was confused. Lost.

"What...?" I whispered.

He looked up. His face was red, voice shaking, eyes full of a pain I didn’t understand.

"I didn’t just hear about it," he said. "I saw it."

I blinked at him.

"I caught her, Logan," he said. "Not outside. Not on the phone. Not in so hotel."

He shook his head like he couldn’t believe it even now.

"I caught her in our own bed," he said slowly. "Our matrimonial bed."

I froze.

"She was on top of him, like she was possessed. Like her whole life depended on it. And when she saw standing there—"

He laughed bitterly, wiping his face.

"She didn’t even flinch. She didn’t stop. She didn’t cry. She just looked at like I was nothing. Like I wasn’t her husband. Like I didn’t matter."

I didn’t know what to say. My head was spinning.

"You were just a kid, Logan," he said. "A baby. So I forgave her."

My eyes snapped back to him.

"I forgave her," he repeated, "because I thought about you. Who was going to take care of you? I was always working. I was barely ho. I needed soone there for you."

He shook his head again, and this ti, his voice turned bitter.

"But she didn’t stop."

"She kept going, Logan. She kept bringing n into our ho like I was nothing. She knew I wouldn’t leave her. She knew I was tied down because of you."

His fists were clenched now. His voice was trembling with both pain and sha.

"Every ti I tried to talk to her, she would threaten . Said she would leave. Said she’d take you away."

He looked dead in the eye.

"I was scared," he whispered. "I was fucking scared of losing you. So I stayed. I let it happen. I looked the other way, and every day, it killed a little more."

I felt my throat tighten.

"And then one day," he continued, voice soft and cracked, "I couldn’t take it anymore. I told her to leave. I kicked her out."

He paused, then added:

"And I erased her."

Silence fell again.

"I erased everything about her. I got rid of the pictures. I told you she was dead. I gave you a fake na. Because that was the only way I could move on. The only way I could stop myself from hating her so much it ruined ."

I stared at him, speechless.

"I didn’t do it because I hated her, Logan," he said softly. "I did it because I loved her too damn much. And she broke ."

He sighed, his voice barely holding itself together.

"So I wiped every mory of her out of my life... and yours. I thought that was the only way to survive."

And the crazy part?

I felt it.

I felt the pain in his voice. The heartbreak in his eyes. The regret. The weight of it all.

I couldn’t even speak.

I just looked at him... and for the first ti in my life... I felt sorry for him.

I turned to her slowly.

To Lily.

Not my mother.

Not anymore.

Just the woman who stood there, quiet, frozen, looking like all the blood had drained out of her body. Her face was pale, her eyes glued to the ground, and for the first ti in my life, she looked... small.

"Is it true?" I asked her, my voice low.

She didn’t say anything.

She didn’t even flinch.

She just kept staring at the floor like the truth was hiding in the cracks.

"Answer !" I shouted, voice rising. "Is it true?!"

My heart was thudding loud. I felt like I was going to explode from the inside.

"Tell it’s all lies," I said, my voice shaking.

"Tell my dad made it all up. Tell he said it to make hate you. Just... just say sothing that makes believe you didn’t do it."

But she didn’t move.

She didn’t speak.

She couldn’t.

Because what the hell was she going to say?

There was nothing to say.

Because it was true.

Every single word of it.

The cheating. The lies. The silence.

She had nothing left.

And then, slowly, she lifted her head. Her eyes t mine, watery and trembling.

"Logan..." she whispered. "Please try to understand. I didn’t do it out of selfishness. I didn’t do it to hurt anyone. I did it for you."

I blinked. My hands curled into fists.

What?

"What the fuck did you just say?" I asked, stunned. "You did it for ?"

I took a step closer. I couldn’t believe my ears.

"I’m trying really hard not to lose my mind right now," I said. "But you’re not making it easy."

She reached out like she wanted to touch , but I stepped back.

"Tell what you an," I demanded. "What reason do you have, huh? What the hell do I have to do with you cheating on my dad?!"

I felt the tear slide down my face before I could stop it.

I quickly wiped it away. I wasn’t going to cry in front of her. I wouldn’t give her that.

She looked down again, lips trembling.

"I was lonely, Logan," she whispered. "You were always sick when you were younger. Always in and out of the hospital. Your dad—he wasn’t always around. He was too busy working. He was trying to make enough money to cover your treatnts, and he was gone all the ti."

She paused, and I swear, it felt like my soul left my body for a second.

"I was always alone, Logan," she said. "I was stressed. I was scared. I didn’t feel loved. And one day, soone ca along who made feel seen."

I stared at her in disbelief.

"So you slept with another man because I was sick?"

She nodded like she had just told sothing noble.

"Yes," she said quietly. "If it weren’t for your health, if your father wasn’t always away, maybe I wouldn’t have felt so... abandoned. So empty."

I laughed. A bitter, cold laugh.

"So let get this straight," I said slowly. "You’re blaming for you cheating on Dad?"

She didn’t answer.

"You really just blad ?" I asked again, eyes burning.

And then she snapped.

"Yes!" she shouted suddenly. "Yes, Logan! You were the reason! If it weren’t for you, I would’ve still been married! I would’ve still been in love with your father!"
