Chapter 110- Grounded

Tyler's POV

"Em... em... em... em..."

My mom was stamring.

Stamring.

She couldn't even form a proper sentence.

I arched a brow, crossing my arms over my chest. "Mom, why are you suddenly stamring? Cat got your tongue? Or is it the sha that's doing its magic?"

She swallowed hard.

I turned my gaze to the man standing awkwardly in my room—half-naked, holding my mom's panties.

I blinked.

Then I turned back to my very guilty mother.

"So," I said slowly, dragging out the word for maximum effect, "who is he? And why, for the love of all things sane, is he holding your panties?"

She gasped. "No, Tyler! He's no one! He—uh—he ca to talk to about so important stuff happening in the world right now."

I blinked again.

Then I rolled my eyes so hard they almost did a backflip.

I even clapped my hands slowly in sarcasm.

"Wow. Amazing." I nodded. "So educational. So tell , Mom—does this 'important stuff' include him holding your panties? Or does it also involve him standing half-naked in my room, like we're about to do a whole reality show?"

She cleared her throat, looking so red in the face I thought she might explode.

Oh, I was loving this.

This was perfect.

This was payback for all the tis she caught doing sothing embarrassing and made feel humiliated.

This was my mont.

And I was going to milk it.

I smirked.

"So, Mom," I leaned against the doorfra, "please, enlighten . What exactly is going on here?"

She exhaled sharply. "It isn't like that, Tyler. It's just that—he wanted to take a bath, and I told him to take a bath in your room because I didn't want him to co to my room. So he was dressing up when you ca in, and that's why I didn't want you to co inside your room."

I blinked.

Then I just stared at her.

And stared so more.

I let the silence drag just to watch her squirm.

Then, with the most deadpan expression, I asked, "Mom. Are you talking to a baby?"

She frowned. "Tyler—"

"Wait, wait, wait." I cut her off, raising my hand. "Do you see with a baby feeder?"

She blinked in confusion. "What—"

"Did I, at any point, say goo goo ga ga by mistake?"

"Tyler—"

"Because I need to understand if you're trying to mock , or if you genuinely think I'm stupid enough to believe the pure nonsense you just said."

She opened her mouth—

"Nope!" I held up a finger. "Don't even try."

I started pacing dramatically. "Okay, okay, okay—let's pretend for a second that I'm the dumbest person on the planet. Let's believe this ridiculous explanation. This man ca to take a bath in my room. Sure. Fine. Whatever."

I spun on my heel to face her.

"But—does taking a bath include holding your panties, Mom?"

She gulped.

"Or—let's say, for fun, it's not yours. Does taking a bath include holding soone's panties?" I asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

I looked around the room. "Oh wait! There's only one woman in this house!" I gasped dramatically. "So whose panties could they possibly be? A ghost's?!"

I shook my head.

"Mom. You really, really think I was born yesterday. Because—MOM!" I threw my hands up. "We both know exactly what's going on here, so why are you even bothering to pretend?"

She looked so uncomfortable now.

I smirked again.

"Let's just say we agree that he ca to take a bath. Let's just accept that fairy tale for a second. What exactly made him take this bath?" I rubbed my chin in mock curiosity. "So, what? He just randomly ca over to discuss global issues, then suddenly went—"

I put on a high-pitched voice. "Oh my gosh, it's so hot in here! I simply must take a bath imdiately!"

I switched back to my normal voice. "And you, being the gracious host that you are, said, 'Oh dear guest, please do not use my room. Instead, use my son's room—where I will then proceed to hand you my panties for emotional support!'"

I clapped my hands.

"BRILLIANT, Mom! Absolutely brilliant! That's so five-star hospitality! You should write a book on how to be the worst liar in history!"

She groaned, covering her face.

The half-naked moron was still standing there, shuffling his hair awkwardly, his face burning with sha.

I turned to him.

"And you." I gestured at him. "Are you seriously just going to stand there like a statue, or do you actually have a brain cell left to function?"

He cleared his throat. "I—"

" I don't actually care."

I grabbed my phone. "You know, I should take a picture. Maybe send it to my friends, maybe to the principal, or hell, maybe even—"

"Tyler!" my mom shrieked.

I smirked.

"Mom, there is nothing wrong with what you're doing. You're a grown woman. You have needs." I shrugged. "I respect that. But—what I don't respect is you thinking you can lie your way out of it with the worst excuse in history."

I turned back to the half-naked sha machine.

"Now, can you please excuse , or are you still in the middle of your bath—using my mom's underwear as spiritual therapy?"

He turned bright red.

Then he mumbled a quick apology and bolted out of my room like his life depended on it.

I sighed dramatically, shaking my head.

"Unbelievable."

I was so close to finally closing my door and getting the sleep I desperately needed when—bam—my mom stopped .

She held the door firmly, not letting shut it.

I sighed, tiredly rubbing my face. "Mom. What again?"

She stared at , her expression unreadable. "Aren't you going to say anything?"

I blinked at her.

Say sothing?

About what exactly?

Did she want to yell at her? To lecture her? To punish her for doing sothing that isn't even a cri for adults?

I shook my head. "What do you want to say or do, Mom?" I exhaled, already feeling twice as exhausted. "Can we talk about this after I sleep? Just let rest. Please."

"I know, Tyler." She still didn't let go of the door. "But—"

Oh my god.

Did she not understand how long today had been for ?

She only saw one thing—the fight.

That was nothing compared to everything else that happened today. She didn't see half of it. She didn't even see a quarter of it.

She needed to let rest. I was running on negative energy at this point.

"I understand, Tyler, I really do," she said, voice softer. "But you not saying anything is making nervous."

I frowned slightly. "Nervous?"

"Yes!" She rubbed her palms together, like she was begging . "Please, say sothing. Even if it's just to tell you're disappointed in . Or angry. Or anything at all. Just—sothing."

I stared at her.

"Mom, I never said I didn't have anything to say."

Her lips parted slightly.

"I have plenty to say," I continued. "But right now? I'm tired as hell. I need to rest for a few hours. Once I wake up, I promise—I'll co find you and argue with you as much as you want. We can go back and forth until you're satisfied. Okay?"

I gestured at my half-closed eyes. "But right now? I need to sleep, or I'm going to collapse right here in this doorway."

I thought that would be enough.

I thought she'd say okay and finally let go.

But no.

She just stood there, hesitating.

I stared at her in disbelief.

Does this woman want to kill ?

Why isn't she letting just sleep?

Why is she acting this guilty?

Even I wasn't making a big deal out of this whole thing. I wasn't angry or sad or anything.

I was just... surprised.

Surprised that she lied when she could have just told the truth.

That was it.

But for so reason, my mom seed determined to force to scold her.

As if she was waiting to be punished.

As if she was forgetting that she was the head of this house, not .

"Tyler," she tried again. "Just say sothing. Anything."

I sighed deeply, rubbing my temples.

"Okay then." I looked her straight in the eyes. "Since you want to say sothing so badly... you're grounded for a month."
