Chapter 1048: Chapter 1048: Han Wang: Co, Continue

Pei Ya cursed under his breath, “Psychopath,” then retorted unceremoniously, “You think you’re qualified to say you love her? If you really loved her, you wouldn’t be ssing around with so many won.”

The usual spring-like warmth in his peach-blossom eyes suddenly turned icy cold.

“I don’t know what ga you’re playing at, nor am I interested, but you better rember this—whatever sches you’re plotting, you’d best be prepared to pay the price!”

When Pei Ya got serious, he could be quite terrifying.

Adding to that, even though he was from China, his height was in no way inferior to Nolan’s six-foot-plus fra.

The sheer oppressive aura he exuded was enough to make Nolan, already guilty at heart, feel an abrupt wave of unease.

But since the words were already out, he had no choice but to continue the act.

Nolan averted his gaze from Pei Ya and shifted it to Han Wang, his face pale as he pleaded, “Listen to , there’s a reason for all this—”

“Heh.”

Before he could finish, Pei Ya’s mocking laugh cut him off.

Nolan was about to say sothing else when Han Wang spoke up.

“Oh? And what reason would that be?”

Han Wang shifted her gaze from her hand intertwined with Pei Ya’s and pulled her hand away.

Pei Ya: “…”

Pei Ya suddenly realized that Han Wang hadn’t yanked her hand away imdiately this ti?!

He looked at her in disbelief.

Han Wang caught sight of his dumbfounded expression and shot him a disdainful look. “Stop looking like an idiot.”

“Oh…oh.” Pei Ya imdiately straightened his face into a blank expression.

Han Wang’s mouth twitched faintly.

Honestly speaking, there really wasn’t a single thing about Pei Ya that aligned with her ideal type.

If she had to na one good point about him, it was probably that he was sincere and fiercely loyal to his own people.

Though, to be fair, everyone from Tianqi Research Institute was fiercely loyal.

Han Wang couldn’t help but reflect inwardly for a mont.

Agreeing to give Pei Ya a chance—was it because she had softened, or…

Either way, now was clearly not the ti to dwell on it.

She took a deep breath, suppressed the irritability bubbling within her, and tilted her chin toward Nolan, her expression practically screaming, “Go ahead, start your performance.”

“…”

Nolan’s face grew even darker.

Han Wang’s attitude made him feel like nothing more than a clown performing tricks for her amusent.

He lowered his eyes, the light within them turning murky and unreadable. When he raised them again, they were brimming with intense emotion.

“They were all just substitutes for you. I’ve known for a long ti that we were destined to be engaged soday. I’ve been waiting for you, but you left for China, disappearing for all these years.”

“Xiya, I know what I did was wrong. I shouldn’t have tried to replace you with other won. But I missed you so much. I had to do sothing to numb myself from the pain of longing for you. Otherwise, I was afraid I’d go mad.”

“You’ve been gone all these years without a word. I had long given up hope. But then you ca back to fulfill our engagent. It made so happy. The night before our engagent, I was just too overjoyed. I drank too much and mistook that woman for you…”

He looked at Han Wang with mournful eyes.

“Xiya, why did you go to China? Why didn’t you co back? Why did you make wait so long, only to treat like this now…?”

Pei Ya couldn’t help but laugh.

Nolan’s words made it sound like his own infidelity was Han Wang’s fault, that he was sohow the victim here.

He thought he’d feel angry, but instead, Pei Ya found it ridiculous. In fact, he couldn’t hold back from laughing out loud. “Why bother with research, huh? Go into acting instead. With your skills, you’d definitely be a star.”

Nolan: “…”

Han Wang’s expression didn’t shift in the slightest. Her voice was cold as she spoke, “You done?”

Nolan stepped forward. “Xiya, do we really have to let things get to this point?”

Han Wang ignored his question and rely nodded. “You’re done? Then it’s my turn.”

The next second.

Before Nolan had ti to react, Han Wang balled up her fist, raised it, and swung it, landing a vicious punch squarely on Nolan’s face.

Taken completely off-guard, Nolan’s head snapped to the side as blood spilled from his mouth. He sat there, stunned.

His face was a picture of shock. “You—”

Before he could finish, Han Wang’s fist ca flying again. This ti, her gaze turned icy as she followed up with a forceful kick, sending him sprawling to the ground.

Pei Ya let out a low whistle and discreetly shrank back to minimize his presence.

Han Wang cast her eyes down and gave a faint, cold smile. “Go on. Keep talking.”
