"Are you sure that this is the job that you want?"

"Of course, there was no one that had better cabbages than in our village!"

I looked at the goliath in front of with a strange look on my face.

It really was strange hearing these words coming from soone with this appearance, but there was no ignoring the look that was in his eyes. Soone that could show that kind of look clearly cared very much about this matter.

In fact, it made question just how strongly he felt about cabbages...well, farming in general.

After a mont of silence, I said to Vanessa, "There should be plenty of free farming land at the edge of the town, right?"

Vanessa just said with a faint smile, "To call it farming land is being generous since this is the wilderness."

Turning to the goliath, she said, "I’m sure that you’ve already taken a look at the condition of the land, so you should know how bad it is. I can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to plant anything, but if you’re willing to try, then we can help you get started."

The goliath said with a firm nod, "Of course! For the sake of growing cabbages, I’ll do anything!"

He really seed to be emphasizing his love for cabbages, so was it that he really loved cabbages like I thought?

After we finished taking care of this one goliath, I couldn’t help looking at the piece of paper in front of and letting out a sigh.

It wasn’t just this one goliath that was acting this way, the rest of the goliaths weren’t much different from him.

Though they were supposed to be a race that were supposed to be filled with powerful warriors, the way that they acted right now was completely opposite of the reputation that the goliath race had.

There was one that wanted to be a baker, there was one that wanted to run a restaurant, there was one that wanted to run a clothes shop...

It seed like there were no goliaths that wanted to take a role that involved any form of fighting.

Was it the peace that they had that turned them this way?

Even the ones that had been hunters back when they lived underground didn’t seem like they wanted to fight anymore. It seed that once they saw that there were others that would act as guards, they chose to hang up their weapons.

But it wasn’t as if this was all bad.

The goliaths were certainly powerful with their strong fras, so they were able to do labour like no one else could. Even if they didn’t use that power for fighting, there were other things that they could use that power for.

The existing stores in town were more than happy to hire the goliaths and it seed that the goliaths were happy to work.

It seed that their personalities had beco much more passive after years of living in peace.

Still...this wasn’t what I wanted.

I had wanted these goliaths to help with defending the town, especially when there were all kinds of enemies out there in this wilderness. However, it seed like this just wasn’t what they were interested in.

"How’s it going?" The goliath chief asked when he ca into the room where we were holding the interviews.

The way that he smiled as he asked this showed that he already knew what the answer was and he was just asking for the sake of asking.

Looking at him with a bitter smile, I asked, "Why does it feel like things are going according to your plans?"

The goliath chief asked with the sa smile, "If the mayor has other plans for our tribe, then all he has to do is give the order. Our tribe was lucky enough to be taken in by this town, so we wouldn’t go against this order."

With a sigh, I said, "You and I both know that there’s nothing to gain from doing sothing like this. When people are forced into roles, they won’t be utilized to their full potential. Those that are forced into roles that they want will never be as productive since they will be unhappy."

The goliath chief’s smile finally changed when he heard this before he said, "I was right to trust you with the fate of our tribe. The future will be up to young people like you, it’s not a place for an old man like ."

I couldn’t help shaking my head with another bitter smile since the goliath chief wasn’t even that old to begin with.

"I’ll still count on you to help take care of your fellow goliaths. If they need anything, don’t hesitate to co and talk to us."

The goliath chief just raised a hand to show that he heard us before turning around to walk away without saying anything.

I shook my head again, but the smile on my face didn’t have the sa bitterness as before.

I turned back to Vanessa and asked, "Is there anything else that we need to do today?"

Vanessa was looking at with a smile before saying, "No, there’s nothing left."

I couldn’t help feeling that there was sothing strange about the way that she looked at , so I asked with one brow raised, "Is sothing wrong?"

Vanessa just kept looking at with the sa smile for a bit before finally saying, "I’m just glad that you were the one that saved us."

An awkward look appeared on my face when I heard this before I said with a cough, "Since there’s nothing left, then I’m going to head out for a bit."

She stood up as well and seed to want to follow .

So in the end, we walked out of the town hall and looked over the town.

It seed that the goliaths were fitting in quite well with their new roles and it seed like the people of the town were slowly coming to accept them as well.

Though seeing the things that the goliaths were doing really was a strange sight.
