"Not all of them" replied, Frankie. "They just went underground—they are still running full force and they found a new way to get extra breedings in," the voice carried a note of concern.
"Well don’t worry about anything, Frankie. You’re with , you’re on the Z1 Ranch now and things are different here. Zach helps protect us all. If they try anything here, it will be the last thing they try." The reassurance was firm and protective.
They just didn’t know how desperate the corporate machine was to continue what they had been doing underground—literally.
"I’m really glad they deactivated my sensor in my arm. That’s why no one could run away once you went for the first swelling—they put a little thing in your arm and they could tell where you were and your status. They would just check on us remotely and not in person." Frankie’s voice grew distant with the mory. "The one human who showed us any kindness never ca back after Martin escaped because of his warning. I really hope he’s okay. He was so cool—he brought us books and read them to us, and even so of us learned how to read barely, but it was a start."
"Frankie, what did you an by your sensor in your arm and they deactivated it?" The question ca with growing alarm.
"Yes, when we leave the facility afterwards, cured of the virus, they put a scanner and I watched him punch ’deactivate chip’ on the screen." Frankie’s explanation was matter-of-fact.
"Do you think maybe the other boys still may have the sa chips that you had?"
"They could. I had forgotten about it—this happened a few years ago." The realization hit them both simultaneously.
Robbie took out his phone and hit a quick dial to Zach. He explained everything to him that Frankie had told him about the chips in the arms. If this was true and they were active, they could track the boys right to the Ranch, and to Tony’s ho.
Zach called Tony imdiately, warning him and telling him to go check on Alec to make sure he was still safe. Angela and Hanz were en route to the GBI headquarters when they heard the alert—they headed directly to Tony’s ho since they were closer. Tony took the ergency exit in the rover and never slowed down.
When Hanz and Angela arrived, they found the front door kicked in. They checked the area outside of the ho to make sure it was all clear. Tony arrived and they all walked in through the broken carnage which was once his ho. As they made their way through the house, he saw two figures dressed in black on the floor. There was no doubt they weren’t breathing—with two bullet holes that big, nothing could breathe.
He ran to the study and realized the door was locked. He ran to the keypad and pushed in a code. Hanz and Angela covered him.
"Liz, this is Tony. Are you and Alec okay? Answer up please. Hanz and Angela are covering us—I know you can’t see us but we’re here and you’re safe. Please unlock the door, Liz."
After a couple of beeps, the panic room door opened and there stood Alec beside Liz in her wheelchair. She was still holding a gun. Tony ran to them both and hugged them and kissed them. He looked both of them over to make sure there were no scratches, no marks, nothing on them.
"Don’t ever underestimate the ability of a mother to protect one of her boys." Liz smiled as she spoke.
As they left the house, Tony shielded Alec’s eyes from the two bodies. Liz just ran over a hand with her wheelchair—no big deal.
Tony put Alec in the rover and placed Liz in Angela’s vehicle. Hanz loaded her wheelchair. Things were very tense outside—neighbors looked but definitely didn’t try anything. They headed to the Bureau.
When they arrived at the building, it was locked down tight. Tony entered a code and an ergency entrance revealed itself. Both cars drove into it.
Once inside, Tony escorted everyone upstairs to the war room. Rosie t Liz at the front of the office and hugged her old college chum.
"Mama’s still got it—they didn’t stand a chance. Now it’s ti to take those bastards down, and it’s going to be a hard takedown." Liz’s voice carried steely determination.
Angela went to her desk and started entering data that was collected into her terminal.
Alec’s tracking chip was located and under a topical anesthetic, Hanz removed it. It didn’t take just a couple of minutes for Angela to break the code. She entered all the information into her terminal and put it on the display. When she hit enter, the board lit up—it showed locations all over the planet where the corporate entities were hiding their precious Genn cargo.
Tony couldn’t believe what he was seeing on the screen. There were at least 45 sites—this was massive. Each site showed anywhere from 30 to 75 blips, aning there were a lot of young Genn who were enslaved as under-transition-age producers.
"They’re going down." Liz shook her head when she saw the board and how widespread it was.
Tony went to his office, opened the drawer, and pulled out a special phone with a direct line to the head governing Regent. Tony called and there was silence on the other end of the line as he explained to the Regent what had been located and how many locations they were being held at.
"You have our full resources and our top agents across the board under your control and direction. This is going to stop—anyone associated with this will be going down. I don’t care if they’re in the governnt or wherever they are, they are gone. Ranches will be seized, property will be reassigned—they’re going to lose and lose big ti." The Regent’s voice was resolute. "What the Z1 Ranch uncovered last ti was just the tip of the iceberg, and thanks to them and Frankie, this young man that you talked about, this will be the final nail in the corporate coffin."
Angela was monitoring the traffic from these locations. Drones were buzzing and video and audio surveillance caras were tapped into. Thanks to a unique program designed by a unique lady, the corporate locations were none the wiser. They were being recorded from their own live video feeds. So of the caras were on the outside, a lot were on the inside, and there was a lot of evidence being gathered.
Of course, the Z1 ca up because the new recruits were there after the raid. One by one, the red dots at the Z1 were disappearing because they were removing the tracking devices and Zach was placing them into a double lead-enclosed container.
They needed two days to put the operation together. Hopefully nothing would fall through and they could save every one of these young n.
